He put one red paw down on the frozen ground, testing his weight and feeling his way forward, all he could see was a faint glimmer of something that looked roughly like a rock with no clear way of determining how far away it was. His eyes caught nothing either around nor ahead of him, telling him that there was nothing but an endless stretch of distance ahead of him, with no cover for his scarlet fur. If an eagle saw him which was a very likely possibility, he would be snatched up in an instant and be carried away to be dashed against the rocks. His brother Tornadic told him that’s what would happen to him after all, and he had never doubted it for an instant. He sat back on his haunches, his little body quivering in the cold and looked with longing at the rock formation ahead of him. He snuffed miserably, it wasn’t fair that he couldn’t run or see the ship or any cover that there might have been in case of an eagle attack. His dad had said his grandmother had been blind and had never let it hold her back, but he wasn’t his grandmother. He gave a low irritable growl and swatted at the ice in front of him, sulking and generally being angry at the world.

it was by pure luck that she had happened to spot the boy. he stuck out like a sore thumb among the ivory, his crimson-black coat contrasting. Heloise had been patrolling alone, finding no one that could assist her this moment and decided she'd best do it before she got bored. her scent was more like a Winterfell wolf's each passing day and she was quite proud of that. though the pup was still technically on the pack's land, he was alone. that made him vulnerable to predators who may be roaming nearby. her long legs crossed the ice easily, walking up from behind him via the treeline. "hello" she greeted him, placing a few steps between them so not to make him feel like she was treating him like a child. her icy gaze was warm as she stared down at him. he seemed to be moving forward, toward the ship. "what are you doing out here?" he seemed almost close to a yearlings' age too. where were his parents? did they know he was missing from their den? Heloise did not want to overstep and drag him back. she also didn't know whose pup this was. for all she knew, the mother or father had left him here because they were doing something important. the last thing she needed was an angry and protective parent crashing out of the woods, accusing her of stealing. |

He looked past the woman with a stubborn glare on his features.
“Nothing.” He sulked and moved to swat at the ice again. Before he could however something crashed into him, sending him spiraling, his jaws parted, reaching to snap them closed around any part of his assailant that he could. He was sure it was one of his older siblings, they all seemed to hate him for a reason he didn’t understand, and it made him hate them too. He gave a shrill yowl, his legs wheeling in the air, struggling to make purchase on whoever was attacking him. He twisted blindly a snarl on his features, the woman completely forgotten about

the more she waited, standing here, the more she was certain nobody else was coming. well, no adult wolves anyway. the boy would sulk, stating he was doing nothing. Heloise chuckled. "it's okay. you don't have to tell me if you don't want to" she'd replied to the child, for she was not in a position to actually force him to anyway. she wondered if she should stick around or leave the boy to his own devices. but he was a newborn, it seemed, and he was on pack land. so there was no harm in it, surely. though that all turned to dust quick enough. she was indeed about to turn away and head back to the pines when a blur of white darted past her. Heloise turned to see the first pup being bowled over by another child. though what caught it most was that this new one didn't seem to be playing. "stop, that's enough!" she'd snap, especially at the red-black pups's yowl when he was collided with. it turned into a snarl soon enough and Heloise paced around the embattled children, trying to find an opening. a low growl echoed her body, attempting to intervene but not wishing to harm either child. |

His defenses came to him naturally; tucking his tail to protect his stomach, pinning his ears, narrowing his eyes and raising his hackles.

(ooc: permission given by lolaf to grab recluse) it was clear, at least to her, this needed to stop. there was fierceness behind it, the intention to harm the pup obvious. seeing an opening now as the red-black pup screamed for the other to get off him, she'd reach down and grab the ivory one and pulled her off him. Heloise marched at least two steps and put her down before moving between the pair, blocking the girl's intentions further. "that's enough." she tried to appear calm and collected, a representative of Winterfell and Winterfell's lands. for this was on Winterfell's lands. "are you hurt?" she'd direct this to the first child, the boy. she couldn't tell if he was bleeding or not due to his coat. Heloise didn't have the training to fix him up if he was, and the thought of calling for help was tempting. her clear blue eyes looked around quickly, finding no one else nor scenting their presence. it was up to her to fix... whatever this was. for all she knew, the boy deserved it. but not like that. not with such force behind it. |
