"Alright," he said excitedly as he trotted over to his opponent. "You and me, Proserpina. Ready?" Pyrrhic set his defenses with practiced ease as he moved. His hackles rose and his ears fell back as he adopted a fighter's stance. He was eager to square off with someone in Risen who wasn't one of his siblings. Now that he thought about it this was his first "real" spar since the tournament.

"I'll take the first move if you don't mind," he said with a grin as he attempted to casually circle his opponent. Three, two, one...

His smile disappeared at 'two' and by 'one' he was already trying to move in towards Proserpina. His goal was to slam the right side of chest into the outside of Proserpina's right hip while swinging his hind end away from her so she couldn't bite his rump or hind legs.

At the same time he reached out with his right foreleg and tried to swipe at Proserpina's left hind leg just below the knee. He would have to reach under her and try to find the limb blindly, but he was confident he could do it.

The pairings had been decided, and she was to fight her younger cousin. With a stoic expression she followed him to their own spot, ears perking as he spoke. As her cousin set his defenses, so did she. A slight grin parted her lips as her ears pinned to her head, eyes narrowing, hackles raising and her tail falling to align with her spine. She squared her stance, too. Ready to move or take whatever might come at her. Pale blue gaze watched as he tried to circle her, though she chose not to move from her position and instead, the only thing that followed him were her eyes. She remained stock still otherwise, and waited until he made his move. As Pyrrhic charged towards her right hip, she stood her ground until the last possible moment. When he was about to make contact, she whipped around to face him. She turned to her own right, her hips swinging away from him and her leg lifting just in time so that the only thing his paw caught was air. She did a sort of tight pirouette, the girl practically spinning on a dime. Without missing a beat, she lunged forward and sought to strike the outside of his right shoulder with the point of her own. She was fast! In an instant Proserpina whipped around and was facing him. She moved to slam into him and instead of backpedaling, Pyrrhic jutted out his shoulder and kicked forward with everything he could muster on short notice. He was bigger and heavier and when it came down to it, in a mutual strike he was sure to come out the victor based on those merits alone.

Proserpina moved like she was going to bite him so Pyrrhic opened his jaws wide and curled his head tightly down towards her in the hopes of intercepting her reaching jaws. His goal was to clamp his jaws shut on the top of her upper jaw and gain control of her head.

She should've anticipated that her cousin would react as quickly as she had, and she should have taken into account that he likely had more muscle and was stronger than her due to his larger size whereas she...well, she could be faster. She let her cousins shoulder blow strike (not that she could do much about it at this point anyway), and with that momentum she loosened her grip on the earth and let the force push her back.

As a result, her teeth snapped on nothing but so would her cousins. She was okay with that for now, certainly not her best move but she'd work with it. Grounding her legs then, she brought her body as low to the ground as she could and sought to dart beneath her cousin. She aimed to use her body as a battering ram, thrusting her shoulders forward to knock his front legs out from under him while aiming to grab one of his hind legs in her mouth to further try and compromise his footing.
