Follow The Bouncing Butt
Éldi wasn't quite sure what the point of this was but Askr had insisted it would teach him to be lighter on his feet. He couldn't argue that he needed to work on his agility. His spars with Valkyrie only confirmed that fact and so he bounded after fireflies, seeking to catch them in his jaws delicately enough not to kill them. Hopefully he'd be able to scoot them into a jar with his tongue without ingesting any. If he did, well, extra protein.
Kaler joined him, also seeking to work on his skills in addition to showing of his superior speed. The bobcat bounded forward, large paws striking out to catch the flickering insects.
Wyvern hadn't totally been sold on the conceit of the whole festival yet, but at least it was an escape from the monotony. She found herself drawn to the idea of competition however so when the firefly event had been announced she'd accepted her own container, a hollowed-out gourd, and set about trying to find a spot not too crowded. It was Farai in the end that ended up deciding, the leopard had picked up some scent or another that meant nothing to Wyvern but led them towards a relatively empty area, except for a wolf with a raven and... okay Wyvern saw why Farai had picked this spot now. The leopard hadn't had much contact with many other big cats outside of the one's Wyvern's own family held as companions and she couldn't fault her companion for being eager to meet others. Still, she wasn't here to make friends, this was a competition! Farai herself seemed eager to help so while the leopard raced after a bug, attempting to swat at it with her large paws, Wyvern set about trying to herd a few into her container, swinging her head and dancing around lightly. |

Ok! They were off to a good start. They had a fair few fireflies but it wasn't enough to really create a good lantern. Éldi wasn't sure his mouth method was working the best so instead he tried to swat a few fireflies out of the air, hoping to stun them enough that he could scoop them into the jar. While he was hunting a young lady with a leopard. He dipped his head. "Evening! Name's Éldi." He wasn't quite sure if she was interested in conversation or not so he opted to let her take the lead. Kaler on the other paw, spying the leopard, was up for a chat. "Ah, its good to see another feline face. We can show these wolves how this is done!" As if to illustrate his point he swatted at a swarm of fireflies.
The other wolf spoke then and Wyvern, turned her attention away from her task for a moment. "Wyvern Ancora." She said, diping her head then swinging it wildly as she kept try to catch the bugs that buzzed past. "Have you ever been to an event like this?" She asked, suddenly curious if she'd been missing out on all the fun before this moment. Farai swatted at another fly, but then turned her attention towards the bobcat. "Gladly." She said, leaping after a particularly high firefly and landing with her usual feline grace. "It's honestly a wonder that these clumsy wolves don't trip over their own paws." She winked back at Wyvern, her eyes alight with humor. "I'm Farai by the way." |

"A pleasure to meet you Wyvern." Wyvern was a fantastic name in his opinion though it brought to mind legends of fearsome and awe-inspiring beasts. Éldi watched the fireflies for a few moments but they were quickly losing his attention. He felt he had enough fireflies for now. "Nope, this is my first time. I'm originally from far up north and I've never seen so many fireflies in one place. Excuse me for a moment." He wandered over to where he had a bundle of items wrapped up in leather, seizing it he wandered back and found a nice place to settle in. "I think I'd like to just enjoy the evening, maybe work on some rabbit pelts if that's alright."
Éldi carefully unwrapped the leather and pulled out a rabbit hide. He'd scrapped most of the meat off of it but there was still some work to be done. Askr, his raven, noticed and flew down to assist him. Éldi used his weight centered on one paw to hold the hide down while he scraped with a rock with the other and occasionally his head. Askr skillfully used his beak.
Kaler on the other paw wasn't ready to give up fishing, especially now that he had a friend to fish with. He bounded up on top of a boulder. "Oh I agree! How do they manage without retractable claws? It's an honest miracle. Nice to meet you Farai. My name is Kaler. How did you come by your companion?"
