Quest for adequacy

The sunset had been fast approaching and the fireflies were starting to appear, she was cutting it down to the wire. She had to move on to catching fireflies before they got caught by everyone else. Theta had moved on from her odd conversation with Incendio to catch more fish. She was gonna get something good from this event, not that seeing Noir wasn’t enough, but physical things were good too.
Now the she had slightly calmer waters she could really focus on fishing properly, she was gonna get this last fish with technique and style. Waiting until she spotted and felt the shifts in the water she stuck her head in and went after the fish only opening her mouth after it was in the water. Man was she getting good at this.

Lyra had to leave the pleasant coversation with the foreigner in search of less hunted waters, and eventually strolled to the spot she was standing now. Occupied by only one wolf, it was rather convenienent, and she strolled into the waters smoothly, with hardly a splash. Walking so she settled not far from the grey-scaled puppy, she dipped her head in greeting to her, eyeing her as she lunged for a fish. Pup seemed quite good. "Heh, nice job for a puppy." It was... moderately backhanded, as puppies can't really... do much. She certainly didn't as a puppy; she just... annoyed the absolute living fuck out of her father. She still did that, at her age, though. Because it was fun.
Paw raised, claws sliding out from their hidden sheaths, she waited for just a moment before streaking her paw down and attempting to spear a fish. Man, her claws really came in handy so long as she could time her strikes.

Theta couldn’t help but stare as she saw the other wolf approach. They began to fish with …strange paws. Their paws almost looked like a cats and that certainly wasn’t something Theta had seen before. “Where did you get those.” They had to be something extra that just wasn’t something you saw people born with, was it? She retroactively laughed at the comment, she could do a lot of things that were good for a puppy, at least in her mind. The adults just underestimated her talent. Theta went under for another fish, maybe this one she could just eat.
