Zee had a lot going on in life at the moment, and thankfully so did the rest of Ashen with the births they'd had. The slave was earning more of Deathbelle's trust, permitted to leave the lands more frequently in search for trinkets for her mistress or accompanied by Sirius for other adventures. This time however she found herself wandering to the battlefield alone, hoping to have not been noticed. In truth she needed to put off her dreams of becoming an alpha to the future - she had an arrangement made with her Empress that just did not leave room for her to wander. That didn't mean she couldn't get some practice in, and Zee was tired of sparring her Klein masters. Sirius was always open to train, but with her skill level so low she could hardly bear to continually embarrass herself in-front of her... whatever he was. And so she found a secluded area of the battlefield, forced herself to look confident and presentable to the best extent her small form was able, tilted her head back and let out a soft howl. It wasn't as commanding as she'd hoped it'd be, and sounded more like 'Hi, I'm here. Please?' then she'd like it to have been. "Speech"

He needed to fight more. Something other than his old man and weird little cats that had been coming around the border lately. He could only fight so many before it got boring, and even when he found something amusing to do with them, the fun only lasted so long. So, here he was. Wandering the battlefield in search of some fun, and fun is what he'd get. Or so he thought. When he heard a summons for a spar, Ares had been all too eager to get there and see who his partner would be, but when he saw her...

His muzzle wrinkled in disgust. She was...not quite a looker. Her fur was tinged blue, but that wasn't the weird part. The rest of her was brown and it simply did not look good. He couldn't help the snort that escaped him as he approached her, a lazy grin on his face as aaalllll the jokes he had started coming to the front of his mind. "Oh goody, I get to fight blueberry stained looking...thing," He drawled. "Were your parents drunk when they made you? Kinda looks like it, I mean blue on brown of all colors? That just doesn't work." He tsked.  It was nothing against her personally. He, like the rest of his family, didn't give a shit if they hurt feelings or offended others.

"Speech"

A challenger approached quite quickly, and Zee straightened further as he made his way towards her. He was huge and heavy, a force to be reckoned with for sure. The small slave gulped quietly, but the anxiety she felt at his appearance quickly faded as he opened his mouth to speak. "Clashing colors? Coming from you?" She retorted bluntly, lifting a brow at his remark. "Is that an intimidation tactic or something? Shame, I was hoping to be met by a warrior, not a poet." A quiet huff came from the woman, and then she lowered herself to prepare as Sirus shown her. "Are you ready now, or do you need a few more moments for wit?" She waited a beat to ensure he'd be prepared for her spring, and then leapt towards him. Though he was over-sized, he was smaller then Sirius was. She'd had more practice sparring with giants then wolves her size. The woman intended to use her speed to her advantage, moving first to approach him head-on and then at the last minute jerk away so that she might slide past his side. While she moved around him, she attempted to strike upon the fleshy part of his rear haunch. Zeitgeist vs Ares for Spar Round 1/? Size: Small Build: Light Fight Skill Level: Beginner "Speech"

Her words brought a wide grin to his face, the fanged beast snorting as he laughed. And laughed. And laughed some more. "Was that...did you just...try to insult me?" He couldn't stop his laughter at her miserable attempt if that was what she really did try to do. "Well, at least I'm prettier than you, I'll admit that." He flashed another toothy grin as he tried to regain control of whatever composure he could manage. "Alright blueberry shit stain, I guess I'll take you on." He hoped she fought better than she looked, but he doubted it. Still, he'd be surprised if she did. Maybe...just maybe if she won, he could forgive her looks. At least just this once.

Settling his defenses, he bent his legs to bring him slightly closer to the ground in preparation to retaliate. His mocking words were sure to get her rankled enough to move first, and indeed his tactic had worked. She charged at him and sought to sweep past his side. With a smirk, Ares side stepped towards her (to his left) and quick launched himself forward like a heavy battering ram with the intent to slam the lower part of his heavy chest straight into her. That coupled with her attempt at charging full speed at him would likely (or hopefully) send her flying backwards if not making her crumple to the ground right then and there. For added efficiency, he aimed to bat her with a heavy forelimb to the side of her head, further adding insult to injury.

The beast moved to cut her off, placing his oversized body before her so that she might hit his chest rather then the side she aimed for. There was little time to react to the change of position, but Zee was small and her agility was by far her best trait. She planted her paws into the ground firmly to give her time in her charge to adjust, and then tilted her neck upwards so that - while her chest would collide heavily into his own as Ares hoped - she might be able to reach a part of his throat with her teeth as the slam connected. The movement shifted her head away from his blow, though the paw landed solidly upon the back of her neck and only caused the painful bruising in her chest to deepen. He brought it on himself with the way he moved to intercept her, and now she hoped that with the force of his own battering-ram like slam that her potential bite upon him could be all the more effective. Well, he managed to stop her but she didn't go flying like a rag doll like he hoped. That would have been hilarious, watching her fly through the air and onto the ground in a crumpled heap. Oh well, he would still be satisfied as he collided with her, sure that he'd left a pretty bad bruise that would hurt like the Dickens later. Not only that, but his foreleg managed to connect as well, on the back of her neck. Perfect. She had just thrown the fight all on her own. He sought to hook her neck with his paw and keep her held against him like a forced hug, though he wished he had his sisters kitty claws to further make this more painful for her.

As the woman sought to grab at his neck, Ares showed yet another cocky grin as he stared down at her for a moment. Clearly she didn't know what she was doing. He took full advantage of her position as his head tilted downward, fangs glinting as his teeth moved to intercept and stop her then and there. He was significantly taller than her, so her teeth didn't quite reach his neck but rather lower towards the base of it where the fat was thickest. With a wild grin, jaws gaped open as he aimed to clamp his them on either side of her head as if she were nothing more than a walnut waiting to be cracked open.

Checkmate.
