we could be immortals
spar vs asvor
Heloise was amazed at the process she was making. no longer did her legs ache after one spar. no longer did she feel sluggish after two. she could keep going as long as they were friendly and there was a level of trust between her opponents. she hoped no one would go for a serious injury, for she felt it was wasted on her. the woman did not care to make snide remarks to the people who met her challenges and she accepted her losses with grace. with some new cuts and bruises fresh on her features, she walked once more to the grounds.
she did not give people the chance to loathe her. there was no reason to take more than needed. not knowing who'd face her this time, she howled for a challenger. someone of equal skill would be preferable, but she would take anyone. the bouts were becoming entertaining though she always did enjoy a good scuffle. her companion circled above his mistress, a shrieking call alerting her to the approach of a stranger. she smiled up at him, sending a silent thanks, before her eyes drifted over the body of the other's approach.
not known to her nor was the pack scent, but their intention was clear. they were here to spar as well.

Her talk with Valdis recently had definitely sparked a renewed sense of purpose within Asvor, and unsurprisingly that led to an itch to fight. The few spars she'd participated in hadn't been enough to properly hone her skills, and she was eager to continue finding new partners to spar with. Today that was precisely what was on her agenda. With both her companion and armor in tow, she set off toward the Battlefield with only one goal in mind. She was quite the sight when she arrived, unused to the weight of the old helmet that she wore nestled atop her head. The horned helmet seemed favorable to Jormungandr, the female bush viper who currently coiled tightly around the bronze twisted horns. The sight of a bird overhead alerted her to the presence of another, tilting her head to watch as the creature swooped down - promptly she headed in that direction, eventually slowing her pace to assess whoever had ventured here. The stranger was unfamiliar, but she had expected no less. "If it's a fight you're after, the first move's all yours," Asvor drawled, letting a faint smirk tug at her lips as she assessed the female carefully, trying to pinpoint any potential witnesses and hoping that letting her strike first might earn Asvor an advantage. a woman with a pale coat arrived, her crimson details reminding Heloise of blood. she wasted no time with idle talk and pleasantries, and the ivory woman wondered where she had even come from. the pack scent was heavy yet it was no pack she was aware of. still... this was no time to ask for a better behavior. the time to clash fangs and bodies was nigh. perhaps afterward the woman would be more eager to tell her and exchange words. she gave a curt nod, assessing where to strike first.
the helmet and snake would be bothersome, yet Heloise did like a challenge. she rushed forward, realizing that the other woman was around the same size as her. yet the stranger was also thicker, and the Winterfell Squire would use speed to her advance. hoping to get around the helmet, she skid around to the back and went for a haunch. the right one. shooting her neck forward, she hoped to at least pierce the flesh shallowly. though adrenaline pumped through her veins, Heloise was careful to reign it in. she was not going to mortally hurt the other woman.

Heloise's scent was equally as unfamiliar to her, though she made a mental note of it. She wondered if any of her packmates knew much about the recent affairs of the other packs in Boreas - if any had come or gone recently - but that was a worry for a different time, not now. Instantly Heloise acknowledge her invitation, rushing forward as she'd predicted. Asvor did her best to hunker down where she stood, stiffening her muscles and tightening her limbs just enough so that any impact wouldn't send her completely stumbling. She kept her head low, trying to protect her vitals as best as she could from whatever attack she planned... and though she tried to swing her head to the side to stop Heloise's attack completely, the other female wasn't deterred by the sharp points of her helmet, and instead slid easily to her side. A low growl left her throat as she felt jaws bearing down on her right back leg. Her instinct was to rip away from her, but finding her way back home with an injured limb didn't sound like the best idea to her. Instead, she twisted her head around and ducked it low, aiming to throw those spikes into the side of Heloise's own flank. While she did that, Jormundangr slithered closer toward Asvor's neck and out of reach of Heloise, flicking her tongue anxiously as if she was readying herself for an attack of her own. The ivory woman made her slide and even connected with her back leg. Success swarm idly in her mind, Heloise knowing that it wasn’t as simple as that. The other wolf could easily retaliate – and she did. Seeing the twist too late, she felt sharp pin pricks of pain at her flank. The result made her flinch away, careful of getting gorged by the helmet, and lose her hold on the woman’s leg. Calling out for her falcon as she circled, trying to find an opening, Kresnik dove down to meet the viper. Her hope was to distract the snake with the bird while she went for the woman.
The gyrfalcon circled at her side, beating his wings against the air between Heloise and the snake. He gave a mighty shriek and talons were outstretched but all he really did was be intimidating. The ivory squire slipped to the left now, raising on her back legs and trying to crash down on the woman using her full weight. Many things could happen to ruin such a chance, mainly the split second her belly was exposed. Her flank was bleeding a bit from the helmet’s horns too but not enough to dissuade her away from her assault.

Somehow Asvor could sense her companion's discomfort, mainly from the way she was shifting at the top of her head - she swore she saw the shadow of her bird companion passing overhead, which would certainly explain Jormungandr's angry hissing. It was a brief distraction from the pain that had begun to spread from her hind leg. though as she aimed to collide her helmet with Heloise's flank she felt her hold release - thankfully. The wound hadn't been a crippling one, but surely she'd feel the effects after the fight. The low growl continued to bubble from within her chest as Heloise twisted away and she both felt, as well as heard, the flapping of wings overhead. If her bird somehow touched harmed her companion... things might get ugly. She had a feeling the fight was a relatively light-hearted one though, and tried not to think about the viper too much, instead focusing on Heloise and the way she reared up. As expected, Asvor ducked her head low and tried to aim it for her belly, hoping to ram her helmet into her exposed stomach - though she knew if she moved too clumsily that Heloise could easily send her weight bearing down on her and cause her to sprawl to the ground, surely defeated, but it was worth a shot. it was done.
she felt a victory in her grasp and held it close to her heart. another fruit of her labors. though the woman's helmet grazed her belly, Heloise would step back after it made contact and raise her tail for pause. though it was clear she had won against Asvor, the alabaster woman was not going to poke fun at such a thing. it had been a good fight, a well thought out one. she was grateful for the experience it provided both of them.
"thank you" she'd dip her head to the other, refusing to mock such a worthy opponent. "you fought well. I could not ask for a better bout" her smile was more honest now before she turned from the woman. she must tend to her wounds now and the travel back north was thankfully a short one. "it was an honor to meet you, and I hope to see you again here. for a re-match." she'd chuckle fondly before moving off.

Asvor's attack had been too presumptuous, and as she dove under Heloise's belly she felt the stranger's weight bearing down on her, though quickly she reared back. Asvor wasn't so foolish to continue fighting - she, too, knew exactly who had won. Perhaps in her younger years she might've been aggravated at such a loss, but time had tamed her enough that she knew this was all part of improving, and despite her age she knew she had plenty of work left to do. "As did you," she responded with ease, that faint characteristic smirk of hers returning, though her words were earnest. It was only now that their fight was finished that she truly took in a whiff of her scent, trying to implant it to memory. Perhaps someday they might reunite, perhaps not - but learning about this new pack, at least one she'd never encountered before, suddenly seemed of interest to her.. and perhaps to Legion in general. "And perhaps we might. Take care of yourself." With that she pulled away, heading home to Legion to tend to her own minor injuries and perhaps to prepare herself for their next fight. -exit Asvor- |
