Kaveh Kyra

It wasn't often that the brute could say that he was completely unobservant. As a general rule, the earthen hued brute was very aware of his surroundings and was always on the lookout for danger of any sort. Today though he was so lost in his thoughts that he almost walked clear off the ledge. One moment he had been padding trudgingly through the woods, worrying over his lost sister, the next he was looking down a cliff into a deep ravine. His paws got so close to the edge that he could feel the every edge of the dirt crumbling under his step. He gasped and scrambled backward, tripping over his paws and landing on his back. He panted lightly as the adrenaline coursed through him, his heart racing from the sudden scare. He rolled back onto his paws, looking out over the ravine with wide, sea-foam green eyes. It was hard to see the drop if you weren't paying attention, thanks to the tall grasses and trees. He sighed and sat down on his haunches with a soft thud. "I really need to pay more attention..." he thought, cursing himself for getting so lost in his thoughts. The search for his sister was getting to be all consuming for him. This was just one example of why he needed to hurry and find her or accept that he was never going to see her again. He was starting to believe the latter.

He stood and turned away from the ravine, walking back to one of the nearby trees and flopping down under it in the shade. What was supposed to do now? He looked around the area, seeing absolutely no one. He sighed and rested his head on his paws, letting his pale green eyes close. He didn't know what to do now. Life had thrown him a curveball and he had no idea how to catch it. Everything was slipping through his paws. He just hopped maybe, just maybe, life would cut him a break and make something turn his way.

Azalea stalked through the trees. The forest was thick here giving it a mysterious feel. She had never been here before. Bugs buzzed about, the air damp. Frogs sang in chorus in the background. Every now and then a bird would swoop by, distracting her eye.

The noises and scents assaulted her system, causing her to miss the most important of all. Another wolf.

The Heir had a jog in her step, her left shoulder wrecked from her spar with her brother. She had lost but she had taken it surprisingly well. However, each step made her grit her teeth a bit. She was sore and her shoulder was stiff and painful to put weight on. Thankfully nothing was broken or misplaced and soon enough she would heal up. She needed to practice more often, it was about time she learned to fight for real.

Lost in her thoughts and too distracted to notice, Azalea walked straight past the other wolf. No more than a hundred feet away and she was completely oblivious to his being there. Just like the male, she walked right to the sudden and terrifying drop. Her eyes grew wide and yelp worked from her her lungs and her limbs flew into reverse. She scrambled backward, stopping when there was a healthy six feet between herself and the vertical drop.

Her breathing was heavy and her eyes were wide. As the rush of adrenaline left her, Azalea groaned lightly, hunching over. "This shoulder will be the death of me," she thought. Suddenly her nose picked up what it had missed before, her eyes instantly finding the wolf. "Hello." She said quickly and bluntly.

Azalea was on her paws as quickly as was possible when trying to maneuver to avoid putting weight on her left leg. It was an awkward thing to watch and when she was finally on all fours, she stared at the male. She couldn't help herself... he looked familiar. A lot like Sarak. "Sarak is much more attractive than this guy!" Her mind screamed. Her fur grew hot, embarrassed to have thought such a thing, besides this fellow was perfectly handsome in his own way. He had rich earthy fur and crazy beautiful eyes.

Azalea stopped herself, sitting down and opening her mouth to distract her from her wild thought. "I'm Azalea Adravendi."

Kaveh Kyra

Kaveh had relaxed so much in the shade of the tree that he was half asleep by the time the fea passed by him. He didn't even notice her presence. He had pushed all his worried thoughts away and made himself relax. It wasn't till the fea's yelp echoed through the air several feet away that it jarred him from his rest. His eyes flew open and he scrambled to his paws. His eyes spotted the source of the disturbance. It was a fea with ivory fur, only her head colored russet. The brute watched as she scrambled back from the edge of the ravine, much like he had only moments before. He wondered how many times wolves were surprised by the drop like that... and how many failed to notice in time.

His eyes met hers when the fea finally noticed him, giving him a short greeting. He dipped his head in response and waited for her to stand once again. She seemed to be injured by the way she struggled to her paws and favored her left leg and he almost went over to offer his help, but she got to her paws on her own all the same. She introduced herself as Azalea and a soft smile touched his muzzle. "That's a lovely name, Miss Azalea," he replied his words ringing true. It was a beautiful name for a beautiful fea. Padding forward a few steps toward her so he was out of the shade of the tree once more, he sat down across from her, his tail waving gently behind him. For a moment his worries were forgotten, as they usually were when he was around other wolves. "I'm Kaveh Kyra. It's very nice to meet you. His head tipped to the side curiously, his seafoam green eyes drifting to her left leg. "Are you hurt? Did something happen?"

Perhaps it was his stance or the fact that he was shadowed under the trees, but Azalea felt an immense relief when he responded to her words. "That's a lovely name, Miss Azalea," He answered, setting her body free of the tension that had taken hold.

He made his way out into the light, seating himself a comfortable distance from her. Her nose tipped up, sniffing at the air un-apologetically to catch his scent. No pack that she could name and he didn't smell in anyone like any certain scent. "I'm Kaveh Kyra. It's very nice to meet you." Her mind latched to his last name. She didn't recognize but she felt the need to ask him. Aza didn't get a chance though, before he was tilting his head.

Kaveh's eyes on her leg. A bit uncomfortable with his interest, Azalea she licked her lips, seating herself quickly, letting her left paw just barely kiss the ground. "Are you hurt? Did something happen?" His concern won her attention back, fiery eyes straying to meet his with a certain shyness. "It's nothing. Nothing I didn't ask for." She played it off, almost like it was something to hide.

After a moment of consideration she spoke again. "I sparred with my brother... and lost." Her voice was cool and even, her eyes meeting his without flinching.

The seafoam-hued gaze of the brute met hers as she explained her injury. A slight grin touched his muzzle and he nodded in understanding. He remembered the days of sparing and learning how to fight. It wasn't all that long ago that he had been picking fights with passing yearlings to train and practice. His mother had tried to teach him and his siblings the basics, but she had never been the best of fighters so he learned on his own from watching others fight and from trial and error. He sometimes wondered what it would've been like to have someone that could actually teach him the ways to fight. He was set in his ways now, there was no going back whether they were right or wrong. Sure, he could improve upon his techniques, perhaps even get rid of a few bad habits if he tried, but his skills hadn't failed him yet so he wasn't inclined to change them. "Perhaps when you are healed we can spar as well?" he said with a smirk, simply a playful challenge. He could clearly smell the pack on her pelt and wondered how he would stack up against a pack wolf.

He turned his gaze over her shoulder toward the ravine the both of them had almost fallen into. "I almost took a fall into that as well. There really should be some kind of marker, alerting wolves to that cliff. No telling how many wolves have almost fallen in like us, or maybe even tumbled right over the ledge." He turned his attention back to the fea, her striking fur catching his eye once again. It was an interesting pattern, having only her head the russet color. It was much more interesting than his solid brown at least. "What pack are you from, Miss Azalea? I haven't been around many pack wolves before and haven't learned their scents as of yet." He asked purely for conversation's sake, wanting to learn more about his new acquaintance.

A grin and a nod was received in light of her words. She wasn't sure what the grin was about but his eyes seemed sincere. "Perhaps when you are healed we can spar as well?" His voice was smooth and easy and his words caused her stomach to stir. Heavy lashes shadowed her gaze as she looked at him, a bit of a defiant twinkle in them.

"Perhaps," She replied, not agreeing nor disagreeing. It was a surreptitious answer to a straight forward question. She looked him over again, this time with more consideration, taking him in as an opponent rather than just some stranger. He was not built like Gael but they were of a similar height. Azalea had seemed to finally cap out on her growth. Thirty-one inches, nothing spectacular. This wolf had legs to him but by the thickness he had to him, she guessed that all that fur hid well packed muscle.

Her pride would not allow her to deny this male a fight, if he so asked for it. Besides, he was a rogue and she was Heir to the Valhallan throne, she needed to make her people proud. If she were to roll over when a challenge presented itself, how would she look as a future leader?

Azalea was blissfully unaware of the way her body had grown. Sure, she may not be buff and all powerful, but she had a woman's build with all the right curves and looks to kill. Some of the simplest gestures she made were enough to make the males swoon. She knew nothing of love though, outside of that for kin, she was just too young. In another year she would be sexually mature. A year. For now she didn't have males on her brain in any way sexual.

"I almost took a fall into that as well. There really should be some kind of marker, alerting wolves to that cliff. No telling how many wolves have almost fallen in like us, or maybe even tumbled right over the ledge." She followed his gaze, looking past him to where the greenery suddenly grew dark as night. "Like the heads of all those lost to it," Her mind thought eerily. She blinked slowly, inhaling deeply and then sighing.

"What pack are you from, Miss Azalea? I haven't been around many pack wolves before and haven't learned their scents as of yet." Her eyes flicked to his. "Valhalla. Located not too terribly far from here." She tipped her head now, "You are not from a pack... are you from the region? I've never heard of the name Kyra..."

Kaveh Kyra

Kaveh tried to think back and remember if he had met anyone from Valhalla before when she answered his question and he didn't think that he had. He committed the scent of her pack with the name in his memory so that if he ever came across more of her pack mates he would know. His ears perked up to listen to her returning question, his bright seafoam eyes resting easily on her. "I'm from Alacritis, yes. I'm sure when I was young I came and went because my mother had us constantly moving and on the run, but as far as I know this is where I'm from." He shrugged, his tail curling around his paws. "We were on the move too much to be a part of a pack I guess. It was just me, my mother, and my sisters growing up."

He glanced down at his paws as he thought about his now missing family. "It's just me now though. One of my sisters died after we were attacked by a brute one night and I got seperated from my sister and mother when we were trying to travel through a snowstorm. I have a feeling my mother is already dead, since she was weak and injured when we started out, but I'm hoping I can still find my sister. A thought dawned on him and he turned his hopeful gaze back to the white and russet fea. "Have you seen her? Her name is Elysia. She's several inches shorter than me with eyes just like mine and lighter brown fur." He knew it was a long shot, asking this complete stranger, but he had to try. No stone could go unturned with this brute.

"I'm from Alacritis, yes. I'm sure when I was young I came and went because my mother had us constantly moving and on the run, but as far as I know this is where I'm from." He was so relaxed about it. Azalea had to wonder what it was like for wolves to come here. Did they find it boring? Were there more beautiful landscapes hiding outside of Alacritis? It really made her wonder.

"We were on the move too much to be a part of a pack I guess. It was just me, my mother, and my sisters growing up." Azalea nodded. "Wise to move around. Staying in one place can be dangerous, especially with pups. I however, have always lived in the same location and have a very...full family. Mother, father, brothers, now sisters. Aunts, uncles, grandparents," She paused, eyes darkening, "No, no grandparents anymore." Clearing her throat she looked up with a grim smile, letting thoughts of Cairo fade away.

"It's just me now though. One of my sisters died after we were attacked by a brute one night and I got separated from my sister and mother when we were trying to travel through a snowstorm. I have a feeling my mother is already dead, since she was weak and injured when we started out, but I'm hoping I can still find my sister." Azalea looked down and to the left, averting her eyes and pulling back her ears. "How does one show sympathy for wolves they don't know?" She asked herself. She struggled to be sympathetic, to be sorry for things unrelated to her.

"Have you seen her? Her name is Elysia. She's several inches shorter than me with eyes just like mine and lighter brown fur." His words made her eyes go wide, feeling suddenly drawn into his mess of a life. "Uhm," Her face was perplexed, vocal cords spewing out the sound in an attempt to buy time as she processed his words. Elysia? "No. I haven't. I mean, I might have... I don't know the names of all the wolves in Valhalla, honestly... and if she's new then I certainly wouldn't know."

Mentally she scolded herself, knowing she should really learn the names of each and every wolf. She should be at the border to welcome strangers. She should, in general, put forth more effort rather than running off all the time.

"I know what it is like... to have a sibling lost. My brothers left Valhalla when we were very young. From what I know they traveled together for most of that time... but then Gael came home and Soleon did not. I have no way to know that he is really alive... but...but I feel it in my heart. I know he's not dead. He can't be." She laughed a little, eyes on the ground. "He's an Adrevendi after all... and if there is one thing we're good at, its surviving." The crueler parts of her brain nagged at her, telling her that she was not really an Adravendi. Not by blood.

Kaveh wasn't at all surprised when Azalea replied that she hadn't seen his sister. It was the same reply he got every time he asked anyone if they had seen her. It was like she had vanished into thin air like a ghost, her and their mother both. It was a little surprising that her pack was so large that she didn't know all of its members, but what did he know? He had never been around a pack. Maybe that was normal.

He listened quietly as she told him about her lost brother, a sad smile touching his muzzle as he nodded in understanding. "I feel the same way about my sister," he replied softly. He shook his head, clearing his troubled thoughts away. "Where ever our wandering siblings are, I hope they're well," he added, his expression brightening and a hopeful grin finding its way onto his muzzle. He hated bringing others down or bothering others with his problems so he swept them aside for now. No need for this chance meeting to go down a depressing path.

He stood and stretched, reaching his forepaws out in front of him. Once he straightened up again he shook out his fur and sighed contently and let his gaze fall on Azalea once again with a smile. "Are you hungry, Miss Azalea? I was just thinking about looking for a snack. Would you like one?"

Kaveh announced that he understood what she felt about her brother. She smiled lightly back at him, eyes flickering to his and away in an instant. "I feel the same way about my sister," were his words. Azalea could only sigh, a solemn sound.

"Where ever our wandering siblings are, I hope they're well," He looked brighter now as her eyes caught his. His eyes were such an interesting color, unlike any other she had seen. She had seen plenty of browns, blues, and greens but she had never seen a color like his. A pale mixture of green and blue. Much like the ocean when it rolled against the shores.

The male was on his feet, drawing her attention from his eyes. She blinked, looking him over as he stretched out his muscles. "Are you hungry, Miss Azalea? I was just thinking about looking for a snack. Would you like one?" For a moment she was silent, just staring at him. Her mind was not about her as she thought about everything but what he was saying. Snapping out of it she shook her head, "No." She paused, catching herself, "But thank you." She tacked on her words. "I should actually be on my way. I promised a friend that I wouldn't be gone all day." She rose too, shaking herself out to free her rump from any dirt or dead grass that might cling her her. "If you ever find yourself in need of a place to rest, Valhalla will welcome you. Just tell them Azalea sent you. If they should try and turn you away, they will have the Heir to answer to." Tail rose high, waving over her back as she moved at a trot.

Her paws led her away from the ravine, stopping once more, "It was very nice to meet you Kaveh Kyra. I wish you luck in finding your sister and hopefully when our paths cross again you will have found her."

Kaveh waited for a response, the delay in her speech making him wonder what the white and russet fea could be thinking. He nodded in understanding when she finally turned down his offer because of her need to get back home. She continued on to offer him rest with Valhalla should he need it and he smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Azalea, I appreciate that, he replied as he watched her begin to trot away. He watched her go, wondering when they would meet again and if she would eventually take him up on his offer of a spar. He certainly hoped so, if not for a spar then at least for a chat.

His ears perked up and his seafoam eyes rested on her once again as she spoke, her words bringing a smile to his muzzle. "It was very nice to meet you as well, Miss Azalea. And you with her brother as well!" he called back to her. He turned and trotted along the length of the ravine, his tail wagging lightly behind him as he went off in search of food, still thinking of the Valhallen heir's offer of rest, wondering if perhaps it was time for him to be finding a home. He gave his head a shake. No, not yet. He had to find Elysia first. Once he did that... then maybe he could meet with the russet faced fea again.
