Venom took her leave to stand away from her mother and Calamity. Deathbelle hadn’t moved herself too far from them but Venom wanted plenty of room to show Godbrand how it was done. She’d been training nearly as long as she’d been out of the den, thanks to Sirius. Her mother was likely more than aware but it had been a fun secret between herself and the guardian. The pup moved to a better spot, expecting her cousin to follow after her.

She’d turn back on him as she reached an adequate distance, her brows furrowing already. Ears pulled to her skull and her quills raised along her hackles as they rose. Her forked tongue flipped from her lips eagerly as she forgot her sorrow and drowned herself in the excitement of a spar. She couldn’t help but cock a grin as she pulled her lips back to show her vibrant teeth. ”Are you ready?” She asked with the twitch of one dark ear.

Godbrand really wasn't ready to begin.

as he followed after his cousin, he looked uncertain. he'd never sparred another wolf before outside of casual playtime with Gimli. Beryl seemed too delicate to wrestle with. Ma was always looking after them and didn't have time to teach them a proper lesson. he only got bits of knowledge here and there. always stay balanced, never let your opponent topple you... plus, the throat was always to be protected. he didn't have formal training and he realized he may lose terribly.

"I guess" he huffed, trying to sound confident and cool but failing miserably. Venom 'unlocked' her quills, and he wondered with shock if they were poisonous. she looked like a small cactus. Godbrand didn't want to look at himself. he was average. he had nothing. nothing useful in a fight that is. the more he thought about it, the more he got depressed. he wished he had something special about him. as he tried to ready himself, he also tried to find a weak point on Venom. she didn't look like she had any, but he flung himself at her anyway.

racing toward the girl, he aimed a bite at her right ear. as of right now, they were roughly the same size. but that'd change in an instant as they got older. she'd dwarf him in comparison.

Godbrand didn’t seem ready, though the young girl was too oblivious to see anything wrong with him under his exterior. He was a Klein, that fact alone elevated him from the rabble that lingered outside Ashen’s borders. Even if she had known, she might have teased him about his emotions however similar they might have been to her own. The goal would have been to make herself feel better. Of course Brand had seemingly lost his whole family. Venom hadn’t seen uncle Hanni since before the eruption.

She was dealing with the death of her father, but Venom would put her negative energy into her lessons. Dad wanted her to grow up to be a strong Abraxas, and she wasn’t about to let him down. Godbrand’s reaction was not reassuring but he initiated ready or not. Venom remained still as she watched him close the distance between them. She only flinched when she saw his teeth come too close to her face for comfort. She tried to duck her head out of the way but she didn’t move fast enough and he caught her ear in his puppy teeth.

Venom cried out mostly in surprise but aimed to lift herself onto her back paws so she might wrap her front paws around his neck in a bear hug. The girl also opened her jaws and aimed to grab hold of the side of his face, the only place she could really reach with her ear in his mouth.

Ma had so far allowed them to all do their own thing. Godbrand was grateful for that, really, cause he didn't feel like doing a whole lot. the gentle lessons on crafting seemed to cheer Dutch up; he didn't want his mother to be sad and just naturally assumed she was sad for the absence of Pops. that conversation about him and his siblings being the result of a one night stand was inappropriate for children, let alone crude and cruel for the pups involved. he also assumed Ma and Pops were close but knew they weren't together, in the same way, a mate was. because Ma never referred to Hannibal as her 'mate' or 'husband'. only a partner in raising them.

the point was, he didn't want to see Ma upset. if she felt she had to go off and find the others, then that was what she needed to do. but it didn't make it any less hurtful. he only saw Dutch taking time to collect Frey and Gimli. time that could be spent with him. as much as he tried to focus on his skills, the boy wasn't as motivated as some of the other pups. he tried to attend training because that's what you did in a pack. and that's also what you did to distract yourself from trouble. cause pack life was still uncertain to him. he didn't like all the people around him constantly.

Venom reacted to his attempted flailing by wrapping her paws around his throat. he tried to pull back, wary of her quills, but having bitten her ear... well, he was probably yanking erratically back and forth, causing her pain. twisting in her grasp, Godbrand tried not to let go of her ear (the only thing he felt he had to grab) but the way he was moving, she could find a way to unhook her ear from his jaws. it was clear he was inexperienced and not at all motivated to win this. to him, spars still meant puppy playtime. the thought of his cousin turning her claws against him was an unwelcomed thought, and the quills alone were intimidating.

She wrapped her paws around his neck, he didn’t seem as eager to win as she. Venom wasn't eager to lose against another pup. Not when she got beat by the huge warlord every other time. She didn’t like to lose. Venom did not enjoy the pup yanking on her sensitive ear. She yoweled at him as she tried to bite down on his cheek to get him to release her. Unsheathing her claws she tried to dig them into his skin to further her control over his movements. With as much momentum as was able to be mustered the young pup aimed to slam Godbrand to the ground beneath her. Hopefully twisting from his grasp without anymore pain to her ear. One of the first lessons she learned was go for sensitive area, and she hadn’t followed that advice here.
