Bound by nothing

Sylvia had once again decided to travel beyond the outskirts of the battlefield to find something new and entertaining to fill her day. She had started at the break of dawn, crawling out from her den with the first morning lights scattering across the sky, and she took off. Her sense of adventure collided with her sense of adventure, the two coming together like a perfectly tuned compass. Today she felt the winds directing her to the north once more, back to the forest beyond the barren fields where the trees grew towards the sky and knitted together to form a playground above the ground. She walked through the forest floor with her head tilted towards the sky, occasionally looking down to see where exactly she was going, but her eyes were mapping out the woven branches above, learning the pathways from below. She knew she wanted to do this, because there was a fallen tree a few hundred yards into the forest that would act as a perfect bridge to carry her from the ground to the heavens and Sylvia could simply not wait to find out what it was like up there.
As she came upon the fallen tree, the woman would glide right up it's trunk, no sense of fear as she stepped confidently across the bark, higher and higher into the canopy above. From there, it was almost as if a highway had been naturally built; critters from the canopies scampered across the branches with ease, crossing into different trees and different direction like a well traveled road. Sylvia grinned at the thought of finally catching one of the pestering squirrels, and doing it on their own turf! She crouched down low onto her branch, eyes moving with each passing prey, until her sights honed in on a particularly plump looking grey squirrel, swaying across the branches with such laziness it was almost too easy. Sylvia would dart out across the branches, leaping from wood to wood and dunking over hanging limps with a ease that looked effortless as if she had been born in the trees. The critters scattered, but the round little squirrel had little time to react before Sylvia was on it, and it's terrified squeals would ripple through the wood as she crunched down on the small snack. Pleased with herself, Sylvia would hop down onto a thick, low hanging branch, where she would happily chew on her new breakfast.

Out of curiosity Jupiter followed the death cries. If there was a meal being taken then there was potentially a meal to be stolen and who didn't love a freebie? He was surprised to find, however, that once he got to the place he knew the sounds were coming from he could find neither prey nor predator. By then the cries had died away - pun intended - leaving him with silence and nothing to go off of. Interesting. The giant glanced around, eyes straining and nose twitching as he tried to find evidence to support what his ears had told him.
It was the groaning of the lower branch as Sylvia stepped down that gave her away. Immediately his gaze shot up and he spied her in the tree. He'd expected maybe a cat of some kind so imagine his surprise when he looked up and spied a large wolf. Jupiter's surprised expression quickly turned to appreciation as he took stock of the very attractive tree climber. "Damn," he enthused with a lopsided grin. "Here I was thinkin' and dreadin' about gettin' pounced on by a cat. But if it strikes you right, you just pounce away, honey. I'll take it."

Sylvia had been so entranced with her meal, she didn't see the stranger approach, but when his husky voice rang out from below, the woman could pay attention to nothing else. Violet eyes gazed down past the hanging branches to find a massive blue wolf staring up at her. Her eyes widen in surprise as she dropped the remaining pieces of her meal onto the branch, shock overtaking her. What was with the wolves in these lands? Were they just crawling with Spirits and Gods? Or were they simply all descendants of such beings? Sylvia mind whirled as she suddenly remembered that he had actually spoken to her, and if he truly was such a being, she knew she needed to answer. She would allow herself a small smile as she leaned down over the branch. "You flatter this mere mortal, but I pray do tell me which God is your kin? With a build such as yours, surely you've been blessed by the Gods, or you truly do come from the stars." She would purr adoringly.
First it was the woman on the battlefield, with her pale features with oddly long hairs. To this day Sylvia is convinced that female was a Spirit. But now this cyan and azure colored male truly looked like he was painted with the galaxy in mind, and the russet woman could not help but feel bland in comparison. However, a coy grin would tug on her lips as she truly did think about pouncing on such a wolf. Her tail would sway as the joyful thoughts flooded through her mind, her body inching forward on it's perch to get the best view available. "Hmm, I must know your name gorgeous. Tell me what I must do to have it?" Her grin grew as she spoke, her mind wrapped around the God below her and not the meal she was going to happily disregard so she could better serve her new interest.

Looking as he did in a land full of mostly dirt-colored wolves this was not the first time Jupiter had been the recipient of a strange reaction. If he made it through a season without at least one 'haha blueberry' or 'whoa who's your daddy?' joke it would be a miracle. When he was a pup he'd handled the curiosity graciously but now, as an adult, he saw each incredulous reaction as an opportunity to amuse himself. Because why not? If he was to deal with this torment all of his days he should at least get something out of it.
Jupiter smiled coyly up at the tree climber. "I can't answer your first question without giving an answer to the second free of charge." Why yes when pressed for his name he was definitely going to claim kinship to the aerial god. He tsked and then added, "And all things considered that seems like a waste. So if I am to make demands in exchange for this information...a good place to start would be giving me your name."

She could not hold back the light laughter that rippled out of her throat as his words twisted into a riddle she could only pray to understand. It was such a mischievous answer, a spark flutters in her eyes as Sylvia wondered if she had found a kindred spirit in the blue demigod. Someone who knew how to have light hearted fun and banter, even with a stranger. Purple eyes grazed over the blue males form, admiring the beautiful artwork that decorated his hairs, but even more so his natural build that had her more primal instincts flaring. She threw a lazy grin down at the demigod at his demand for her name. "When you put it that way, how could I say no?" While she was growing attached to her perch above the unnamed male, introductions to a demigod seemed more appropriate on level ground so the chocolate female raised herself from her branch and gradually slipped off her perch. Surprisingly, she landed on the ground with an almost feline precision that had her smiling at herself. Anything to give a good first impression.
Sylvia turned to the male with a playful grin on her face. "Do you always make wolves work so hard for such little information?" She chirped with amusement in her voice as she took a step toward the blue wolf. "Sylvia Ada Bjork, is my name. But for a demigod like yourself? You can call me Sylvia... or whatever else pleases you." Sylvia would purr, taking another step forward. She had a faint desire to reach out and touch his fur, wondering if tiny stars like sparkles would fall if she tousled it just right. A fantasy more than an actual possibility she was imagining, however the idea filled her with delight. She narrowed her eyes at him suddenly, a playful tone in her voice as she spoke; "Have I earned myself an answer, or do you demand more, mysterious wanderer?"

When it was clear he was going to get his way a big smirk settled on Jupiter's lips. He watched the woman stand, his eyes tracing the curve of her legs. She slid to the ground with exceptional grace and Jupiter was treated to a moment where he could take in her form from behind. His lecherous gaze rose and settled on a more polite place as she turned to face him. "Do you always make wolves work so hard for such little information?" Well hell that required exactly zero thought on his part. "Yes," he said saucily before rolling his eyes and capitulating, "Whenever it suits my fancy, at least. And right now my fancy is..." Jupiter studied her for a second before shrugging demurely. "Suited."
"Sylvia," he said saucily, taking the name for a test drive. "Well it is definitely a pleasure to meet you, Sylvia." Looking like a woman on a mission she stepped towards him. Jupiter, for one, welcomed the approach. Every step she took towards him was a step he didn't have to fight to take himself.
"Have I earned myself an answer, or do you demand more, mysterious wanderer?" His smirk, which had softened a bit, came back en force. After a beat he rolled his eyes heavenward and made a show of considering her question. "Hmmm." Jupiter drug it out for a second longer before finally answering. "Tempting as it is to see how far I can go with that line, I think you've earned it. My name is Jupiter, kin to..." He grinned leadingly. "Well...I'll let you guess."
