Fight me
Spar thread with Dunkan
"SATISFACTION IS RESERVED FOR THE NONCONFORMIST." Dunkan sat there, watching the ocean before him. Hairs of brown and white danced along with the salty wind that came from the sea. He took a deep breath of the air of salt. Closing his eyes he nodded to himself. Today he wished to practice his fighting tactics. He wanted a spar in this fine morning. But who to challenge? His mentor was the best option but he decided to do so with whoever came to his encounter. And thus he set his defenses. Widened stance, hackles dancing up, winkled maw and pinned ears were in place. Narrowed eyes and lowered neck and head. Now he just had to wait. "Hello" | 'Thoughts' | 'Your speech' |
She followed the taste of salt in the air. There was a bounce in her step as she padded down the low incline, grass giving way to sand, trees fanning out before her. The plains were only a step away from the sea, and she wanted to explore every inch of her new home—starting here.
Her eyes went round at the sight of the lapping waves, ears twitching every which way. She had seen the sea before, but only briefly, tangential to whatever path she was taking at the moment. The she-wolf bundled down the slope, intending to dip her toes in the water, when another scent intermingled with the damp, saltine draft.
The only pack member she had met thus far was Sirius. It was a little funny: the Alpha, as formidable as he appeared, had not once looked half as pissed off as this guy, all curled lips and pinned ears. Malalia slowed to a trot, a healthy distance between her and her new packmate. “You look like someone took a dump in your breakfast,” she deadpanned.
"SATISFACTION IS RESERVED FOR THE NONCONFORMIST." He waited for anyone to show up, with his defenses set. He may look like a weirdo as no one was in front of him, but in his mind, it was better to be ready before a battle started. Of course, it wasn't always the case, but in the trainee's mind, it was. He hasnt been in any real fight yet and thus he didn't know what could happen, all he did was to guess. And like that he remained there, not caring what others could think of him. And soon someone approached him. Another wolf, close his age. Cold eyes landed on her. Did she come to fight? But what she said made him think she came just to pester. Calmly and controlling his temper he would respond. "I am not angry," He corrected her. "I am just practicing sparing and setting defenses." He tried to be as clear as he could."I am Dunkan Sarcova, the future warrior of the armada. Who do I own the pleasure of been talking to?" He asked politely. "Hello" | 'Thoughts' | 'Your speech' |
Her ears twitched at his cool, careful response. She'd only been trying to jest, but okay, perhaps she could have been less... dry about it. Then again, it wasn't as if wolves poised to spar looked cheerful, exactly. "You sure about that?" she teased. Her tail wagged slightly, her tone evidently lighter.
"Anyway, it's good to meet you. I'm Malalia." She nodded at her newfound brother-in-arms. "I'm a future warrior as well. Future healer, too, and bad at jokes, apparently." For a brief moment, she surveyed him. "So, were you just waiting around for someone to attack you, then? Is that the way it goes around here?" Her question was not critical, but rather open. She was used to more coordinated sessions, but--well, new pack, new customs. If that's the way things were in the Armada, she was ready to adapt. Honestly, it was an interesting concept, if that truly were the case, and probably closer to a real battle than anything she'd ever experienced.
"Well, if you're looking for a sparring partner--" The yearling mirrored his own stance, ears flattened to her dome, weight shifted slightly to her hindlegs. "--I'm game." It would be her first spar within the new pack. Sirius would begin training her soon, but Malalia wanted to assess her own skills, and Dunkan had provided the perfect opportunity.
"SATISFACTION IS RESERVED FOR THE NONCONFORMIST." Dunkan waited if there was anything else the girl wanted to share. "You sure about that?" He nodded without hesitation, he was sure about his own statements. He never lied, he was honest in the full meaning of the word. Besides, if he was angry he wouldn't be talking at all. "Anyway, it's good to meet you. I'm Malalia." "The pleasure is mine Miss.Malalia." He said calmly as he looked at her. "I'm a future warrior as well. Future healer, too, and bad at jokes, apparently." He nodded, agreeing with her statement. "It's good to meet a fellow student. I don't really know many wolves within the pack. Just my mentor Resin and now you." He admitted. His mind has been placed just in training but not as much in socializing. "So, were you just waiting around for someone to attack you, then? Is that the way it goes around here?" "I was essentially waiting for someone to join this spar, and I like to practice my defenses beforehand. And wolves around here aren't that violent or as far as I know." He explained calmly. "--I'm game." "Alright then, we may start. I'll give you the first move." He offered as a courtesy act. He returned to his former defensive state. With ears pinned, maw winkled, lowered head and neck to protect them. Hackles rose, his tail soon did as well. He was ready. Okay. In a heartbeat, she pushed off her hindlegs and dashed forward in a zig zag motion, keeping low to the ground. Jaws parted, her eyes locked on his front paws. She would aim for his paws and try to pull them out from under to unbalance him--at least, that's what she hoped he would think, with her gaze and posture misleading him. Instead, when he was just close enough, Malalia would pivot on her front paws, spinning around and kicking out her hind legs, attempting to deliver a blow to his chest or chin.

"SATISFACTION IS RESERVED FOR THE NONCONFORMIST." The male waited with his defense set. Lowered neck and head, hackle tall with his tail. His stance was wide with his paws spread for balance, ears flat and eyes narrowed. Maw winkled ready to bite if needed. He was ready for this. Each fight was important for him, even those just for practice as they also gave important lessons for future encounters. Quickly the girl ran toward him in zigzag. He tried to follow her with his eyes but in the blink of an eye, she charged with a simulated bite to his leg. But that was just a trick. He managed to raise his head, hoping the kick to fall on his chest and not face. Quickly he would charge, aiming to rise on his hind legs a bit and with legs spread he attempted to wrap them around the girl's back and with his weight he aimed to push to a side wanting to make her lose balance. Instead of trying to dodge, she threw her whole weight low and forward. He had been quick with that move. The lighter woman was quicker, and under his belly in a heartbeat. His forelegs would wrap further down her back, closer to her waist instead. Meanwhile, paws outstretched, she aimed blows at his belly and hind legs. His weight might still pin her lower half, if he wanted, but his soft underside would be free for her to batter while her own was protected.
