Turkey In The Strawn [Aryn]

Mæva pranced along the bottom of the gorge with a turkey swinging from her jaws. It had been a stroke of luck that she'd stumbled upon small flock on the dancefloor. She'd have stayed there to process the bird but the scent of coyote and bobcat drove her east in search of a safer place to pluck and skin her bird. The gorge seemed a decent enough place and so she found a nice spot in the mouth of a shallow cave. Setting down the turkey she got to work. She'd had the luck to nail a tom and she set her jaws to the base of its tail, carefully working out one of the tail feathers. She hoped to use them to decorate her den so she tried to be as careful as possible. There! She pulled a few free and set them aside. They were covered in spit but maybe they'd try ok.
She eyed the sunlight on the rocks and realized she should try drying some of the turkey meet. Geira could guard it. Mæva shifted her attention to the birds breast as she quickly worked her jaws into the bird. She had to turn and spit feathers but finally she was able to peel the flesh back to get to the meat below. Seizing a strip of breast meat in her teeth she cut a jagged piece as carried it out into the sun, laying it down on a rock to dry.
