Wolves, wolves, wolves! How he loved to find whatever wolf Sirius had brought home next. This one had actually been brought over by his mother, and what with his whole scaring her on the cliff thing, he hadn’t realised this wolf had arrived. She had very nearly sneaked under his radar, but in the end the pup loved to meet every wolf that arrived.
It was a slightly late welcome committee, but he would step on it at last as he bounded past the communal fire pit and danced towards Bird’s garden. He sniffed the little fence his father had helped build, and wagged his tail as he caught the scent of herbs and was instantly reminded of Indigo.
He continued on, sniffing away and searching until he found the new den and the scent of the stranger. It was of course late into the night, and not at all an hour to be imposing on people. He was however a little bit of an insomniac like Deathbelle, and found himself restless at night. “Hellllloooo?” he called out at the entrance

A voice outside her den startled her and interrupted her thoughts, making the darkly colored woman lift her head to peer through the den’s entrance. It certainly wasn’t a voice she recognized and it was such an odd hour to be calling on someone so at the very least he had her curiosity. It wasn’t like she was getting any sleep anyway so she got to her paws and pulled herself out of the small den.
Her mint green gaze landed on the pup that had come to greet her, looking at him with a surprised and questioning gaze. ”Hello,” she replied with a small smile. It was fairly obvious that this was one of Zee and Sirius’ children. She could tell just from the similar marking on the pup’s face and the long fangs that matched his father’s, even if his scent didn’t already give it away. She definitely hadn’t been expecting any visitors, but this was the first time she had gotten to interact with any of the pups so she was happy to see him despite how late it was.
She settled on her hunches across from him and added, ”What brings you out here so late?”

The little black wolf poked out her nose, and the pup was rather surprised to realise she was about his height. He was still growing, and his paws were bigger than hers, but their height was about equal. Despite how tall he was getting, he found most wolves still managed to tower over him, so it was a pleasant surprise.
“Oh,” he said, as through he hadn’t considered this. “Were you sleeping? I didn’t mean to interrupt” but, since he was here now, and she was here now, he plunged on regardless. The damage was already done, right? “I’m Mortis, I heard you’s was new here and wanted to say hi” he explained brightly. “Uhh…. so, what do you like? Do you like to play games, or hunt?”

The realization that it was the dead of night that seemed to suddenly dawn on the boy made her chuckle and she was quick to give a shake of her head in response. "No no, it's fine. I wasn't asleep yet so no damage done." If anything she was happy for the distraction and for the excuse to get to know one of the pups that lived here. She had no idea which of Zee's children had been the one to give the leader the scare that had eventually convinced Tamsyn to stay here, but it didn't really matter to her. Pups pulled at a soft spot in her already soft heart and she was happy to have him interrupt her already uneasy sleep. "Hi, Mortis, it's lovely to meet you. I'm Tamsyn." This was possibly the most adorable welcome committee she had ever seen. He wasn't a tiny pup by any means, but certainly still very young and she could tell he was going to be quite the tall gentleman when he was older. He was as tall as her as it was so she could only imagine what his adult hight was going to be. It wasn't exactly a surprise considering how large his father was. At his questioning of what she liked to do, she hummed thoughtfully and replied, "Well, I definitely like to play games. I like to explore new places a lot and your father has been helping me learn how to fight a little too and that's been pretty fun." Her head tipped slightly to the side as she offered her new acquaintance a soft smile. "What about you? What do you like to do?" |

Tamsyn didn’t seem like she was about to growl at him for his untimely interruption, so he went back to grinning at her in delight. He settled down in front of her, his wings hanging lightly down his sides like a waterfall of feathers that covered sight of his legs from his sides. His head tilted to the side, and he regarded Tamsyn with curious, and friendly blue eyes.
“Hi Tamsyn. Pappa said Mumma gave you a place in the pack. Are you the only wolf mumma recruited?” he asked, peppering her with an easy flow of questions. His father seemed to come home with a wolf every other day, but he hadn’t known his mother to do so.
“Ohh, I like to fight too, and explore, those are great hobbies!” he exclaimed. “We should explore, and see if we can't find something to fight, too!” he exclaimed with enthusiasm.

There were so many wolves around here that were so unlike anything she had ever encountered before. First Zee with her horns and Resin with his fangs and now here was Mortis that had the same fangs and... wings? It simply boggled her mind. Everyone she had lived with before coming to Boreas had been fairly simplistic compared to these wolves, much like herself. It was all strange to her, but at the same time she found it all incredibly beautiful and fascinating. If someone had come to her a year ago and told her that there was a wolf with wings she would have thought they had gone crazy, but now she had seen it with her own eyes. "I'm not sure!" she replied honestly when Mortis asked if she was the only wolf Zee had recruited. "I didn't have anyone else join with me at least... I'm not sure if she's brought in anyone else at a different time." Considering how kind Zee had been, Tamsyn would have thought that giving wolves a home would be a regular activity for the alpha, but maybe it wasn't. She got the sense that Mortis went to visit every new member that joined them so if anything he would probably know better than she would. Even though she had been living here for a few weeks now, she still felt very new here. It would probably be quite a while till she felt completely comfortable around all of them, but at the very least her little den had begun to feel like home. She grinned at how excited he got at the idea of exploring and fighting, absolutely loving how enthusiastic he was. It made her heart ache because it reminded her of how she had approached life when she was his age before her father began to stifle that side of her. She wanted to encourage that so badly it hurt so she nodded with an equal amount of enthusiasm and replied, "Absolutely! I don't know about finding something to fight if it's going to just be the two of us, but we can definitely go exploring!" She felt a little more confident about being able to protect herself and possibly him if something did happen now that Sirius had become her tutor of sorts, but she certainly didn't want to be the one to put him in any kind of danger. "Do you want to go do a little exploring now? We shouldn't go too far, but I'm not ready to sleep just yet if you want to go walk around a bit," she offered, nodding toward the pack's border. Just a little trip through a neighboring territory wouldn't hurt! |

Mortis shrugged his wings as she mentioned not being sure. Well! It was special that his mother had invited her into the pack. He kinda of thought his momma was nicer than his dad, and he got on with her better at any rate. He wasn’t totally sure why his dad did most of the recruiting. “I guess Puppa is more bossy” he said with a chuckle. Certainly Sirius had a more commanding air. Maybe that was needed for recruiting.
She sounded a little cautious, but not closed off to the idea of exploring, and he would jump on that eagerly. “Sounds good!” he agreed, still secretly hoping they fell into an adventure and ended up tussling with something. He wanted to show off everything he had learned with fighting, and maybe pick up one or two new things with Tamsyn. That sounded exciting.

Tamsyn giggled softly when Mortis called his father bossy, but she didn't reply. She had a feeling that Sirius had a soft spot hiding under that commanding, strong exterior, but that didn't make him seem any fitting for the role of Warlord. She thought that him being a bit more commanding fit well with Zee's softer way of handling things. The two of them balanced out well and she wasn't sure the pack would run as well as it did otherwise. But, that was all musings of someone far more interested in the inner workings of the pack than his excitable pup probably was. As soon as he agreed to her offer of a little late night adventure, she grinned happily and got to her paws. "Well, lets get going then!" She trotted along with her new found young friend, quietly making her way past the garden that neighbored her den. She had been intending to make her way over toward the willow trees where she had met Resin, but a noise further into the pack's territory toward the meeting and bonfire area caught her attention. Tamsyn stopped and listened curiously, her head turning toward the noise. If it hadn't been such a quiet night she may have missed it entirely. She glanced at Mortis and told him quietly, "Lets just go see what's going on and then we'll head out, okay?" She changed direction to head toward the noise. It very well could have just been another of their pack members that was out and about that was just making her over react, but considering how late it was she just wanted to make sure. Keeping to the shadows, she led the way as the crept toward the clearing. She stopped when she spotted a coyote that was taking advantage of the leftovers from a recent hunt that had been left out for them to enjoy. The predator was clearly thin and must have been desperate to come into a wolf pack's territory in search of food, but that didn't excuse it stealing their food. It seemed like the adventure had come to then instead of them finding it. She glanced at Mortis and nodded toward the coyote, silently telling him that they should head toward it with a questioning look. For now they had the element of surprise and she'd like to keep it that way if she could. She was fairly confident that the two of them could handle one coyote, but at the end of the day she was still a beginner and he was a pup so she wanted to be careful. |
