BURN THE WHITE FLAG!

Natha worked her way around the eastern border of the Tall Grass Plains. She was close to finishing up her patrol as the sun worked it's way closer to the horizon. There was a rumble of thunder far in the distance but thankfully the storm seemed to be far enough away that she'd have time to finish her patrol and take shelter before it hit. At least that was the plan until she spied something moving out in the woods that border the Armada's territory. Many somethings in fact.

Natha's fur stood on end, golden eyes sweeping the woods as a wild dog emerged. It was a large, muscular mutt of some kind, pale and riddled with scars. A black dog appeared beside it, followed by two more wild dogs. Uh oh… they looked hungry and far too bold for their own good. Natha tipped back her head and yowled for the wolves of the Armada to come defend their territory. And not a moment too soon as even more wild dogs appeared. Hells it was a whole pack of them! The dogs howled their own challenge and Natha's heart hammered in her chest. Bloody hell!

Mortis knew their father had stepped out of the territory for a short moment to get in some hunting. When the call for Armada wolves went up, Mortis just knew he was going to be spitting mad to miss the excitement.

Thinking, with terrible vanity, that he was filling in for the place of this father, the pup bounded towards the call. He would find his friend Natha at the scene, and knew she wouldn’t chase him away from a fight. They had fought a bear together, after all.

He came to a skittering stop besides Natha, breathing hard from coming in so fast. “What’s happening? he gasped, even as his own eyes found the dogs. He snarled, raising his wings to look big and threatning.

Forever on alert, the moment that the call came, Resin was on her paws and rushing to the scene. The hint of urgency in the cat's voice put an extra burst of speed into the giant canine's step. She smelled the dogs before she saw them and, when she did finally see them, she was surprised at how bold they were. They wanted to claim this territory? Really? Skidding to a halt beside the cat and Mortis, the scarred woman cast a look to the pup. This would be good training for him. "Remember to think. If it becomes too much, fall back behind me." Flashing a golden look towards the feline, she spoke again. "The same for you." It was a courtesy. The cat was small. If she needed a breather, Resin would hold the slack.

Without another word, the behemoth raised her muzzle to the sky and released a spine chilling howl. She alerted the mongrels to her presence. The presence of a warrior defending her home. Pelt bristled and teeth bared, the ash and onyx woman rushed forward. The dogs didn't charge just yet. They seemed to be getting their bearings. Resin paced along the border, back and forth, a growl on her scarred maw. Her eye targeted the largest of them, remembering their faces. Learning their scents. They looked to be some sort of mastiff breed, but mixed with something that had longer fur. In the end, that didn't matter. Nothing mattered but defending their home.

The dogs had had enough standing around. The largest came forward, placing one black and umber paw over the border. That was all that Resin needed. Planting her hind paws, the beast lunged forward, chest slamming into the mastiff mix. Both canines rose on their hind legs, jaws snapping furiously at one another.

When the call went up, Mal went rushing towards the eastern border, commanding Pach to stay behind. The wolverine kit was still new to battle, and she didn't want him getting involved in this... whatever it would be. The she-wolf pelted across the grass, and soon spotted the figures of her pack mates streaming in ahead of her. As she came closer, she caught the scent of wild dog... and lots of them. Resin's howl scent blood coursing hotly beneath her skin, curled her lips into a silent snarl. The coyotes had been a nuisance, but a pack of wild dogs this size was certainly nothing to sniff at.

They skittered just outside of the border, slavering fangs and bared teeth and raised ears. Confident -- arrogant -- and here to put their grubby paws on the Armada's territory. They strutted about like they already owned it, and the gathering of wolves was a mere inconvenience. So evidenced by the biggest of them stepping up to place a paw over the border. He quickly regretted that fact when Resin slammed into him.

Still several lengths away from the border, Malalia pushed herself forward, muscles burning as she tore across the grass with all the speed she could muster. Spotting a dog with black fur on the outskirts of the group, she barreled into its side, her jaws tearing, her steel claws slashing as she tackled the canine to the ground.

BURN THE WHITE FLAG!

Natha's ears flicked back at movement behind her but she didn't dare take her eyes off the dogs. Mortis skittered next to her. "I think they want to hunt in this territory and they don't want to be nice about it." She wasn't an expert in dog language by any means but they looked hungry and ready to get food wherever they good. The plains was excellent hunting territory but she wouldn't put it past them to raid the Armada's precious winter stores if they found them.

Resin arrived and Natha was grateful for the presence of the older warrior. She nodded. "Don't worry about me. I can scramble up a tree if needed. Which reminds me…" she glanced at Mortis. "Let me know if you want tree climbing lessons." She didn't know how comfortable he was up in trees and figured she may as well offer.

Natha turned her attention back to the dogs as the largest stepped across the border. A second later the dogs charged into the territory. A muscular brown mutt dove for her, tail held high. She hissed and lashed out. Her claws clipped the dog's nose as he pulled back and he yelped in pain and the turned back to her fury in his eyes.

“We’ll teach them!” He replied to Natha, offering a grin to the cat-warrior.
His grandmother appeared beside him, and he spared a moment to grin at the older woman. Of course, she was looking out for him, and the others. Not that Mortis was scared but it felt good to know he had her at his side. He wiggled his ears at Natha, surprised she would mention climbing now. “Sure!” was all he said, reminding himself to follow up with her once the battle was won.

Resin raised her head and howled, and Mortis stilled at the sound of it, before raising his head and joining to it, his battlesong, alongside Resin’s. He heard the sound of approaching paws, and spared a moment to glance over at Malalia, his tail wagging in a silent greeting to his closest friend.

The battle began then, giving Mortis no time for anything else. Resin was slamming into the lead coyote, and Malalia was zeroing in on another.
Mortis leaped into the frey a moment after his friend, crashing into a dog that had thought it could creep up on the side of his battling friend.

Ooc: -squeaks- I didn’t realise this had been waiting on me!!

Teeth bit into the flesh of her shoulder and the scarred woman snarled. Another dog had joined the fight. Fighting like a true, bloodthirsty pack, the dogs wouldn't take their matches one-on-one. Releasing the face of the biggest dog, Resin bit into the neck of the smaller, just behind its skull. Using her body as a counterweight, Resin dug in with her claws. Thick cords of muscle flexed in her neck as she thrashed her head from one side to the next. The small dog was pulled off of its paws and was literally thrown through the air where it crashed hard against one of its packmates. Completely startled by the action, both mutts yelped and ran off in terror. Two down.

Her shoulder was bleeding, but it wasn't much of a worry. Not unless the dogs were rabid, which none of them seemed to be. The big dog had been waiting for her, its face dripping blood. The giantess was more than happy to engage with it once more. Perhaps with their leader taken out, the dogs would retreat and they could end this insanity. Really though, how stupid did you have to be to attack an entire pack of wolves?

Leaping forward, Resin slammed hard into the leader of the pack with her chest, sending the big, shaggy beast stumbling and falling. Eating up the space between them, the grey woman dove forward, teeth finding purchase on the dogs throat. As it flailed beneath her, kicking out with its legs, she gradually worked her bite upward so that she could clamp down right beneath its jaw. The dog knew the position that it was in and began to whine loudly, tail tucked. She just... couldn't kill it.

Releasing the beaten canine, it began to run away as fast as it could, tail between its legs. Resin gave chase, biting it on the rump one more time for good measure. Another yelp and the dog was out of sight.
