Gramma!

Suspense was going to spend today with grandma! Of that she was sure, she hadn't actually worked it out with anyone yet... not even grandma Rhythm. But that was a little detail she was sure could be worked out once she got there. Wherever there was. Suspense was doing her best to track her grandmother but she kept getting sidetracked.
She'd spot another pack member, or brightly colored flower, or just the sun catching something so it caught her eye. Tamerlane, her raven companion, was doing his best to keep his little lupine companion on task but he already knew how hard it was to keep the girl focused. It wasn't that Suspense didn't listen or disliked Tamerlane... it was just that she was that distracted.
Finally though through prodding from her avian friend the girl managed to catch a fresh trail of her grandmother, putting her nose to the ground and followed it, until she spotted the chocolate coat of her grandmother, her tail starting to beat against the air and she started excitedly babbling. "Granma! Granma!" She said, bounding towards the woman.

Being in the plains reminded her most of days long gone by. A different time filled with different faces. A different world. The old woman was caught up in memories today, of her moments spent with her sister Motif and how they had been inseparable for so long. She couldn’t even remember the last time they had been together anymore. Still she relived her memories, of Motif and Shaye. Their time near the rapids and time spent together.
Her heart ached today. Feather sang in the tree above her and the river spoke softly to her as she rested beneath a tree. At her advanced age Rhythm wondered if she would manage to make it through the cold of another winter. She had a lot of family to look out for her, but she would embrace her last day. She was old her body was deteriorating and she didn’t want to keep watching the young generation die.
Until that point she would embrace the youth and guide them for as long as she could. A yawn left her lips as her attention was drawn to a call from a young grandchild. Rhythm’s features shifted towards the child as Suspense raced towards her. She grinned and braced lightly as she waited an eager hug in greeting. ”Suspense! Suspense!” Rhythm returned with a chuckle.
