Serving the Princess
Aslatiel + Maggot

Maggot had been trying to come out of her shell more and so she was patiently seated by the most commonly used entrance of the pack. She figured if anyone came in injured they would see her. She knew some wolves of the pack and hoped that was enough to encourage those to rely on her for basic medical help. Of course, she would turn all serious wounds over to Iolaire. But, she had to start practicing somewhere, and it was her number one priority to impress both Mort and Io. She hoped this would pay off in the end.
Mags had brought with her some basics, a few bandages, pain-relieving salves, as well as a bit of water to clean out any dirt from smaller cuts or bumps. She tried to appear confident, smiling softly at those who acknowledged or passed by her. It was nerve-wracking to be in front of so many wolves, wolves who could easily scare her off or hurt her. She doubted anyone in the Armada would do such a thing. Everyone she had met was either incredibly kind or very devoted to Sirius and whoever "Belle" was.
The girl had only been out for a small amount of time, the sun having just begun to set. She rose her head to watch as the bright reds and oranges peppered the camp. It was times like these she was truly grateful to have found her home here.

Aslatiel was grumpy. She'd never been injured during a fight before. Not like this. There were deep, bloody furrows on either side of her muzzle as well as across the top. Her opponent had tried to win by bitng her face. Well, she'd replied in kind and left her own marks behind.
Stalking back home, the cream and grey girl muttered to herself. She'd better not scar because of this. Scars were great, just not on her pretty face. If she did scar, she'd go after the woman that left them and she'd be sure to take a piece home with her.
As she crossed into Armada territory, the little earless wonder was sitting there, looking expectantly. What was her name? Fly? Bug? Something along those lines. She didn't understand why her father kept bringing home broken things. Since she was trying to be better though...
"What are you up to, Marmoset?" Was that her name? Marblewash? Escargot? Whatever. She'd just ask Mort later. He knew everyone. She'd never be that social.

Maggot got a whiff of blood, her indigo eyes widening as she raised her head from its slouched position. She was quick to spot a mostly tan wolf making their way over. She was on her feet quickly, a polite smile on her lips. She could see the blood from here, it was no simple scratch. Since the wolf seemed relatively fine besides the gruesome marks along her face, Maggot was sure she could handle this.
She blinked at the girl, eyes assessing the damage as the girl spoke. She guessed it had a good chance of healing up well, but she wasn't experienced enough to be too certain.
"Ah, well, trying to be useful where I can," she replied softly before adding, "And its Maggot, Marmoset would be too good of a name for me." Her tone wasn't self-deprecating, she just accepted that she was inferior as a fact. Inferior until proven otherwise.
Maggot wasn't the best at small talk, but she knew she had to help the girl. "Those are pretty nasty, if you want, I could at least clean them up? I understand if you would prefer Iolaire," she spoke softly, gesturing to her assortment of supplies. It was a bit difficult for her to keep eye contact for so long and so she eventually looked away, staring off to the side. Something about the girl reminded her of Mort but moreso of Sirius. Maybe her confidence, but she had a bit more elegance than the man.

Asla would have rather been a maggot than a marmoset, but to each their own. She didn't like monkey things. They creeped her out. Weird little hands. Flat crazy faces. You never knew what they were going to do. Buh. Gross.
The girl was a little surprised when Maggot offered to clean up her wounds. Well, she couldn't give her too hard of a time now. At least she was learning and making herself useful. Asla nodded and sat, the quills of her armor rattling as she did so.
"So, how are you finding our pack?" She was trying to be nicer. More diplomatic. Why not try to make small talk? The girl was quite a bit larger than she was so she didn't have to stoop while her wounds were being cleaned. She did her best to sit still though.

Maggot was a bit surprised, to say the least. The girl had seemed a bit upset, and to let some random wolf clean your wounds when upset seemed strange to Mags. However, they were clearly raised under different circumstances. Very different circumstances.
The girl blinked, momentarily wrinkling her nose in disgust as she thought of her old pack. She was quick to dispel those thoughts with a shake of her head, frowning softly as she turned to grab the small basin of water she had stolen-borrowed- from Iolaire. It was hard to respond to that question, Mags could go on for ages about Sirius and his pack.
"Better than the last, by a long shot," she responded meekly, using a paw to gesture to her various scars. The girl then turned to pick up the small cloth in the basin with her teeth, looking at the other girl for a moment to make sure it was okay. When Mags felt as though Aslatiel was comfortable, she leaned to gently dab along the cuts. She dropped the cloth on the edge of the bucket when the blood was sufficiently cleaned away from the wound.
Mags figured now wasn't the time to be shy, so she leaned in to assess the wounds more closely, frowning when she realized they were a bit deeper than expected. Nothing she couldn't handle.

The question of packs seemed to bring up bad memories. You had to be blind to not see the trauma that the earless wonder had been subjected to. It was blatantly obvious. The lack of ears and the scars that showed were nothing to the princess. It just showed that Maggot had been too weak to protect herself. Well... she would never be like that.
The girls words brought only a muttered, "Indeed," from Aslatiel. She was holding still while her wounds were cleaned. The wiping away of the crusted blood was a little rough, but it was nothing that she couldn't handle. Anger flared in her again as she thought about what she was going to do to the woman that had bitten her if she scarred.
"So where did my father find you?" An attempt at idle conversion. Sirius was always bringing home strays. Some worked out. Some didn't. So far, Bugs here seemed to be working out.

Maggot was silent as she turned to pull a salve made of Horsetail and White Willow bark from her small pile. The girl turned fully to tip a bit of water onto her paw as a way of cleaning it before touching any of the salves and bandages. Turning to face Aslatiel once more she paused, indigo eyes going wide at her words. Crap. Another really important person to make her nervous. She was quick to turn away, not responding for a few moments as she scooped up a blob of the salve on one paw.
Blinking rapidly as she fought to stay focused and come up with a response. Quickly, the girl plainly replied, "NorthEast of here. Not far." Now she really couldn't mess up. Making sure she avoided the girl's gaze, her paw came to pass along the side of her muzzle, the salve coating a bit more than just the area of the wounds. Returning her paw to the salve, she scooped a bit more to finish along the top of Aslatiel's maw.
"Ah, please close your eyes, princess," she requested softly, eyes pointedly fixed on her salve-covered paw. She didn't want Aslatiel to flinch from her paw being so close and result in Mags getting salve everywhere, so she figured this was the safest way. For once, Mags was thankful for her slim paws, it made it a bit easier to go around the princess' maw and not get stuff in Aslatiel's eyes.

She wasn't sure what was in the paste that Bugs wanted to smear all over her, but it didn't smell great. Still, Asla sat and let the wolf do her thing. She'd asked for healing so she'd get done healing.
Maggot asked her to close her eyes and called her princess. Asla wrinkled her nose. The action pulled at the clotted scraped and they began to seep just a bit of blood. "Asla. Not Princess." Though she was proud of her title, she wanted to be a warrior first and a princess second. Warriors needed their names to be known.
Closing her purple eyes, she sat silently while her father's wolf continued with the salve. The mixture didn't hurt or burn or any of that nonsense. It was just cool and soothing. "How long do I have to leave this stuff on? Abs when should I be healed?" She needed to be able to fight again, but if her face ripped open every time, she'd have to take a break..
