She wasn’t sure she was getting used to the Armada life, but every day that passed without Chimera there at her shoulder she gained more trust in Mortis. She felt like she was a tiny pup again (yes she still is a tiny pup but..) she could barely leave the den without looking over her shoulder. She sat silently outside the entrance now, her bright eyes looking out over the plains as she refused to go far into the territory without her guard beside her. Chimera could appear at any moment, if her prince wasn’t here to protect her how was she to go out with any confidence?
A sigh left her pink lips as she lowered herself to the ground, her long fur now fully groomed by the winged boy, she looked like a proper princess again. Siren almost felt ashamed of her appearance now that she looked presentable, as though her preferred status of living had been inferior.. The young girl lay her head on her paws and closed her dual toned eyes. Hopefully Mort would return soon. She needed him more than she wanted to admit. To herself or him.

Naiche was patrolling the border but at a slower than normal pace. This was as much about trying to get his partner in shape as it was a true patrol. The little pangolin beside him was standing on its two legs but hunched over so he was running with his front hands curled into fists just a bit above the ground. For its size and strange way it chose to move it was going at a decent clip but entirely too slow for Naiche’s liking. The wheat-toned wolf was aware it would always be too slow but exercise might help a little. “Come on Pan,” it was a strict encouragement. He expected it to do what he said but at least some positive note was in there.
Naiche smelled another wolf nearby, a young one and a hint of Mort scent on them. “Catch up,” changing the order as he picked up a longer stride as he followed his nose in curiosity. Did they have any pups in the pack he hadn’t met? Naiche was always one to pay attention to his nose above other senses and this seemed something to follow. Movement in the blades of grass caught his gaze. Naiche slowed his pace, finally spotting the tiny wolf. Really, this time he felt the giant which was nice after feeling dwarved by the monstrous sized wolves around here..
“Hello,” The words said as he approached closer, “I’ve not met you before.” It was a statement yes, but one with the question mixed in. He didn’t smell anyone immedietnly nearby to be keeping an eye on her. Was it ok? She was so tiny and clearly still a pup. She was so small she had to be pretty young still.

Siren opened her eyes and lifted her head at the sound of a voice on the wind, her dual toned gaze searched the horizon. She decided that it was definitely not Chimera out searching for her so she didn’t stiffen too much. The young princess felt her eyes widen slightly as the man came into view. Siren had never seen him before, as he would mention after greeting her. The girl was instinctively shy, having been mostly alone on her island she wasn’t very social.
”Hello,” she returned shyly. Ivory ears fell to her head, he had a very similar charcoal aura to many of the armada’s members. Charcoal wasn’t too bad to trust. Siren was still struggling with accepting her place here, and she wasn’t particularly forthcoming with her words. She blinked up at him with her big doe eyes, ”I haven’t met you, either.” She retaliated calmly while remaining in her sphynx like pose.

She smelled and looked young, it was enough to have Naiche be far more tolerant of her than most wolves, and so shyness was acceptable. He had been expecting a name in response to his pointing out not knowing her instead of the comment being turned around on him. “I’m Naiche, and you are?”
Glancing behind him he saw Pan jogging towards them. Of course with his little legs and sloped over back it wasn’t all that fast, but amusing if nothing else. It would be here relatively soon though now that he’d spotted it.
“So,” back to the pup, “did Mort take you in,” asked with a hint of confusion mixed with curiosity. Surely, she was too young to be on her own and so maybe Mort had adopted her? He was kind of young to adopt but maybe a brotherly thing, or maybe he just couldn’t say no to a lone pup? Maybe it belonged to one of the other wolves here? She didn’t look anything like the older wolves he knew here though.

Siren wouldn’t be getting much bigger than she already was, the princess was a tiny thing. Perhaps because of her parent’s close lineage, but she wouldn’t have known or admitted that. Had Naiche known the path she walked perhaps he wouldn’t have given her an easy go. She was shy and unsocialized, better left to return to her island with Chimera.
”Siren Primrose Klein.” She lifted her head slightly and pulled her long furred tail closer to her body. Her father hadn’t been around for long in her short life but he’d taught her lessons that she would not forget. Being proud of her name as she spoke it, no matter how she felt in the moment, was paramount. Maybe she’d forgotten much of her manners, but that was one thing that hadn’t left her.
He didn’t leave her after that, somewhat surprisingly, as he went on to ask about Mortis. ”He took me.” Alright so in actuality her sister had practically given her away. Despite her Klein name she was no better than a traded garment. Ears still at her skull she looked away, still filled with the anxious energy of ‘what if.’ What happened when Chimera found out she was gone? Could Mortis really keep her safe?

Was she the kid of some other high-rank or arrogant wolf? She wasn’t being rude at all when she said her name but there was just something about it, maybe the way she raised her head, or the change in tone, or maybe just the word ‘primrose’ that rang like arrogant parents in his mind. Oh well, she was a pup and so far hadn’t tried to act superior towards him. Either way, no harm in simply being proud of your name. Naiche was growing more proud of his name each day after all. The wheat-toned wolf was a tad confused over the term ‘he took me’. Took her as in a mate? Mort was a bit young for that. A slave? Mort didn’t seem the type to have a slave. Took her for what? Brought her into the pack didn’t sound like ‘taking’ so took her from someone? “Took you, as in you were from another pack but he brought you hear?” He couldn’t see Mort adopting someone at his age either. Mort didn’t seem to have a dark bone in his body, so maybe he was playing a hero and took her from someone he deemed inappropriate for her? Naiche looked at her anxious expression and exhaled. Adults shouldn’t be cowards but pups still got some leniency about new things being scary. “Hey, if Mort’s looking after you I’m sure you’ll be fine. What are you so worried about?”
