The pair settled easily together and Rue found that she quite liked being in Indigo's huge embrace. He made her feel safe and protected. It was a nice change after being on her own. The purple boy offered to see to her wounds and the girl smiled. "I didn't know you were a healer, but I can see it." Raising one paw, she brushed a bit of Indy's mohawk away from his face. "You're so sweet, Indy. Thank you for caring." It was something that she was in sore need of. Her heart ate it up hungrily.
When asked how she got away, Rue sighed. "I Pulled my leg out of his teeth and slid down a ravine. I was able to rush away into some thickly packed trees that he couldn't get through." She looked down at the crusted furrows on her right foreleg. "Some wolves really are mean." She didn't understand it. Rue was glad that her parents kept her away from that sort.
When they began talking about packs, Rue's heart swelled even more. He was just so, so nice. She wrapped her legs around his big, furry neck and gave him a squeeze. "Thank you, Indy. You're exactly what I needed in my life." With her cheek rested against his neck, she continued. "Just give me time. I'll be able to join your pack eventually. I want to be wherever you are." And she did. He was her best friend and she was his. Wherever he was, she wanted to be. If that meant getting over herself so she could join him in his pack, so be it.

Being able to wrap himself around someone like this did much to quell the violet boy’s inner turmoil. He only just met Rue but even for the quiet boy she was becoming a symbol of peace. Of relaxation. He didn’t have to tense everytime he thought he heard one of his father’s companions in the woods. She was soft and sweet, and she smelled amazing. Being close to her soothed Indigo as much as her words did.
Indy looked up to her with a soft shy smile as she brushed his mane out of the way of his eyes. He squeezed her lightly at her compliment, but she didn’t realize how much he was needing her as well. ”Some wolves are really mean.” He’d been nearly taken aback at the raid. He hadn’t looked like a child, and the pack hadn’t treated him like one either. The look in the man’s eye when he’d come after him…
Indigo refused to give the thoughts much more effort because he was reminded of his father and his forbidding the affection that he wanted to show his sister. Sirius only wanted the best for them, but did he had no idea the averse effects of his decree had on the boy. He shifted slightly at the pain in his heart as he aimed to nuzzle into her soft chocolate fur as she hugged him back. He shut his eyes tight as he banished the pain from his heart and relaxed into Rue.
He held her tight as he spoke, ”I need you too, Rue.” He whispered in admittance, though he didn’t know that he was ready to explain further. ”Take your time, I want you to join me when you’re ready. Until then, I’ll keep you as my little secret.” He grinned as he pulled her onto his chest as he lay back onto the ground. ”I’ll take care of you.”

Rue swore that she'd died and gone to heaven. Indigo continued to cuddle her and for a moment when she closed her eyes, it felt like she was nestled in between her parents again. He held her close and she nuzzled into him, holding him in return with her long, spindly legs. She rested her head between his ears and sighed. This was nice.
"Some wolves are mean," she agreed. "But not you. Indy, you've been nicer to me than anyone ever has aside from my parents." It wasn't saying much, but he was the first nice wolf she'd met. The rest were vicious monsters. That was part of the reason why she was so hesitant to join a pack. A bunch of wolves all shoved together in one place. One or two of them were bound to be mean, right? She didn't want to be hurt again.
Indigo spoke, saying that he needed her. The girls heart swelled and she couldn't stop from smiling. "I'll try really hard, Indy. I just need to sort through some things." Or maybe it would be better to just dive in head first? Ah, but what if she did and she ended up embarrassing him? That wouldn't do at all. That was the last thing that she wanted.
As the purple boy moved and pulled her on top of him, Rue's blue eyes widened. He handled her so gently, yet like she weighed nothing. It made her feel... something. Something that she couldn't quite explain. It definitely wasn't a bad feeling though. Far from it. She would be Indy's secret until she was sure enough of herself to be his surprise. From her place atop him, Rue extended her neck and placed a kiss upon the tip of the boys nose. "Thank you, Indy. I'll try to take care of you too."

Holding onto her soothed his heart, despite the turmoil beneath she calmed his ocean. Her warmth spread over him as he held her and Indigo didn’’t feel as cold. The corners of his lips wer epulled back in an unmistakable smile she she returned his affection and held onto him. She didn’t have anyone else, and Indy thought thta maybe he’d found something that could be his.
She told him he was the nicest wolf she had met and he liked the compliment but was apalled that the rest of the world would be so cruel. His brows knit, he had to do something about that. How could anyone see a wolf like Rue and not want to help her? ”I know you will, but don’t push yourself for me.” He nuzzled her again, liking the feelings that bubbled in his stomach as he did so.
As he sunk into the grass Rue reached forward to kiss his nose innocently. He wasn’t sure what a blush was, but his cheeks burned hot and he grinned. ”Supply me with those is all you need to do.” He chuckled amusedly, brightening considerably.
