Now this was a place Hyacinth felt he belonged. He had found himself in a patch of flowers that definitely matched his fur, he had flopped onto his side, then wiggling rolled over onto his stomach, tucking his paws into his chest and just taking a moment to appreciate the space he'd found himself in. It was a few days after the beach party he'd not been allowed to attend and he was out seeking adventure to make up for all the fun he'd missed out on, even better if he could brag to his siblings about it. The sweet scents of the flower enveloped him and the young man sighed, finding his mind starting to drift...

And unknown to himself he drifted off to sleep, snoring loudly.

Kiela wasn't quite sure what the rest of the summer had in store for her. By the time fall arrived in these lands, she would no doubt return to the north, but until then? She was content to let life take her wherever it did. Though she had goals of her own in mind, they were long-term ones rather than immediate plans; she rarely knew where the week, let alone the day, would take her. Today was no exception, and she padded down into the luscious little valley with ease, noting her surroundings.

This little cut of earth was teeming with more plant life than she'd expected... and animal life apparently, too. A little rodent scuttled out from beneath her paws as she took a large step forward, and she took a deep breath in. She caught a whiff of something else - not any flowers or prey, but another wolf. Intrigued, Kiela strolled onward, on high alert despite the serenity of the place. As far as she was concerned, she couldn't be too careful. That was further proven a few moments later, when she nearly tripped over the form of a stranger, who was perfectly nestled in the tall grasses. She managed to halt just before stepping on him, reeling backwards and clearing her throat. Sneaking up on other wolves wasn't really her idea of a good time, and she figured it'd be best to let him know he wasn't alone here after all, his nap be damned.

Well, that was rude! A noise pulled Hyacinth from his light dozing and he slowly blinked open his mismatched eyes, straining against the bright light of the sun on his poor sleepy eyes. He blinked a few times and started to pick out the form of a figure beside him. Blearily he turned his head and struggled for a moment to do anything. Then as if on autopilot words dropped from his lips: "Did I die? Cuz' you look like an angel." His voice made it clear he was still struggling to shake the sleep from his brain... which probably said something about the type of wolf he was that that was something that he said automatically.

The young man shook his head, and finally managed to regain control of his limbs and slowly started pulling himself onto his haunches, and licked at his lips, fighting the cottony feeling in his mouth.

Once she recovered from nearly trampling him - not that she'd really due any harm to him, given that he looked to be just as tall as she was - she found herself briefly admiring her coat. It was unlike anything she'd seen back home, but then again she'd quickly learned that Boreas was nothing at all what she'd expected. She wouldn't stand and gawk at his bright coat for long though before he stirred, looking stunned as he woke from his slumber. Kiela regarded him with a serious look, not quite catching the gist of his comment. This whole language barrier thing was really proving more difficult for her to conquer than she'd expected, but then again it wasn't like she'd had a plethora of social interaction lately, either..

"No. You live," she responded matter-of-factly, her tone flat, taking a step back from him as he pulled himself upright. "You only sleep. I am not angel, I am Kiela." Awkwardly she shifted her weight from one paw to the other, not sure how else to proceed beyond introducing herself. This whole socializing thing was not quite as easy as she'd expected, but she was giving it a fair and honest try to better acclimate to these lands.. and hopefully get a better grasp of the native language here in the process, if she was lucky.

Oooh, this was going to be fun, there was something so much more amusing about being around someone who was innocent, naive or... a non-native speaker, and while he was certain based off her thick accent and rudimentary grammar she fell under the latter he was unsure yet if she was either of the two options. No matter, he planned to enjoy this... and not necessarily in a cruel way though he wondered if she'd take well to his teasing.

"Hello Kiela, I am Hyacinth. Which is both my name and a flower." He said, adopting a friendly tone as he spoke, then he flashed her a grin. "Also you misunderstood me, it's a phrase that means I find you very pretty." Nothing more interesting than seeing how being upfront would play out. "I was complimenting you."

Though Kiela didn't tend to be a very expressive female overall, her current confusion was easily enough discerned - though subtle, it was noticeable if you looked for longer than a moment. It was clear to her that he hadn't died, and even more clear that she wasn't an angel. The concept of spirits was not at all uncommon in her upbringing, but angel had an entirely different connotation, one she couldn't even begin to entertain the idea of. Clearly she was no less an angel than he was. In more familiar company, she likely would've snorted indignantly at the thought, but around a stranger she was far more reserved and deliberate.

"Hyacinth," she repeated his name, finding it odd on her tongue. It was a softer name than most she was accustomed to and felt strangely uneven to speak. But introductions were quickly swept aside as he explained what he'd meant. He was calling her pretty. It was a compliment she'd never heard. In her youth she remembered a few of her peers being impressed by her sharp intellect and her obvious strength as she towered above them, not necessarily her looks. She wasn't quite sure what to say, except.. "Oh," she started, pausing as she tried to catch her tongue. "You are pretty too. Your.. colors. Remind me of the revontulet. The... northern lights, they are called?" She was not trying to compliment him to be nice; he was quite pretty, and his colors were unlike anything she'd ever seen before.

Hyacinth watched her carefully, his eyes alight with delight as she tasted his name on her tongue, there was something endearing about her earnestness and he had to hold back a laugh as she responded to his explanation, she seemed so unsure exactly how to respond to his frank explanation. Then she commented on his coloration. He chuckled and shook his head, not because he didn't think he wasn't stunning, he knew he was but because he already knew there was someone more fitting for her comparison. "My sister Lorikeet is more blue and green, just like the lights." He shrugged as he mentioned her, not callous or disliking Keet after all but simply finding her look matched closer, he'd always seen himself more in flowers than anything else. "Thank you though Kiela." He watched her for a moment.

Hyacinth gave himself a moment to draw in the scents of the flowers and take in their vibrant colors. "Do you mind if I ask if you know anything about this area?" So far he'd been quite a few distinct places, so he was curious about the lands he found himself in... how a place could be so varied he wasn't sure.

Kiela was hardly what anyone could consider a good conversationalist, nor was she one to try to feign being one. Hyacinth would just have to deal with her as she was.. and weirdly, he seemed almost entertained by the fact that she was caught off guard. Not that catching her off guard was very difficult with all the strange wolves that inhabited these lands. He admitted though that his sister was more blue and green, and he nodded in understanding. "Ah, so the beauty it runs in the family," Kiela commented, trying her best to be conversational without speaking needlessly. Regardless of his comment he still did remind her of the northern lights, especially the way the color drained from his limbs and his fur lay speckled with white dots, like stars in a clear night sky. She would argue the night sky itself was more beautiful than any wolf, but she was more impressed with his appearance than with most wolves she'd met thus far - she didn't mind stopping to admire a beautiful face, even if she wouldn't dwell on it for long.

"I am new here too. Learning my way around. I spend the last two seasons.. north," she gestured vaguely to the north, hyper-aware of which direction she'd been heading. Navigation was her strong suit, if nothing else. That was why she'd come to this place in the first place, not solely to stop and enjoy the flowers (nor the wolves), but to really wrap her head around the landscape and how each type of terrain interacted with the others. This land in particular seemed to be an outlier, a perfectly cut nook in the earth simply teeming with flowers and vegetation, though it was no doubt an interesting reprieve from the rest of the world.

Kiela's comment made him chuckle, and nod. "If you've ever wanted to see a full rainbow of wolves I can arrange for you to meet my siblings." He gave her a wink, then a yawn escaped his jaw and he shook his head out a bit, his body still shaking off the last wisps of sleep it seemed.

The woman explained she was also new to the area and he nodded absently for a moment. He'd been to a few places now and had to admit he wasn't truly sure yet what he thought of the area, he'd already seen much diversity, more than he'd ever seen before. "Well!" Hyacinth said, rising to his paws. "Might as well take a look around then." He smiled at the woman. "Care to join me?"

The rest of his siblings were just as colorful, then? For a moment she wondered just how many siblings he had, but the thought was short-lived. She knew she wouldn't stick around these lands for long enough to find out, though she'd keep it in mind if she ever met another that looked similar to him. With any luck she'd continue to stumble across wolves that looked half as unique as he did. She had yet to encounter many wolves that resembled her own family, or the wolves from her homelands. Those greys and russet hues didn't seem the least bit as common here as she'd expect. At his comment she nearly nodded, still as serious as ever despite trying to be mildly pleasant for the sake of conversation.

He rose all at once, inviting her to join him in looking around. For a moment she thought against it. Exploring a land was easier on her own, with fewer distractions... but oh, why not. He seemed friendly enough and it wasn't like she had anything to lose. "Yes, sure," she accepted his invitation offhandedly, twisting around slightly. Wading around in flowers wasn't really her idea of proper exploration, so she zeroed in on one of the slopes at the edge of the gulley, opposite of where she'd come down this way. Maybe she'd get a better view up there? She glanced over toward him before setting off, as if taking the lead despite the fact that it was he that had invited her along.
