Where is McDreamy?

Halla dragged her patient on the deer hide until she arrived at the border of Fireside. She looked to make sure Ylva was still following along before she tipped back her head and howled for the alpha. She'd take care of both her patient and see if her aunt was indeed in the pack. If so, perhaps she'd be allowed to join. Once the call had left her lips she turned her attention back to her patient. The woman seemed to be holding on for the most part but she'd do better in the care of a healer with a full set of herbs and items as well as wolves that could better tend to her needs. Someone would have to help make sure that the woman stayed hydrated. "Talk" |

Tyrian was in the Range when the call went out. Luckily he wasn't too far away from the border so after bidding the sheep and Tashi ado he set off for the caller with Zahir and Righty in tow. The former, thoroughly uninterested in wolf business, trailed behind him while the latter sat on his shoulders peeking over his head. The agenda was rather limited today so Tyrian was eager for a respite. It was all sheep, sheep and more sheep; and after days of this he was ready for something else. Soon enough they would relax into a more casual routine but for now the beasts were rather needy.
Reaching the border, Tyrian was surprised by the scene. There was a woman waiting for him and at her paws on a hide was another. His gaze darted from one to the other as he tried to figure them out. The howl hadn't sounded distressed but that didn't rule out an appeal for aid. "Greetings. You stand on the border of Fireside. My name is Tyrian and I am the alpha here. What can I do for you?" Short, civil and to the point.

Halla's call was soon answered by a young man with saber fangs. She dipped her head in respectful greeting. "A pleasure to meet you Tyrian. I am Halla Finnvi. I came upon this woman and her companion, she has been bitten by a poisonous snake and is in need of someone with more experience. I am a learning healer and have done what I can but my specialty is in hunting." She knew it was a lot to ask for help on some stranger's behalf. She hoped the companion might have some ideas on how to make aid to her friend worth the man's time. Although, Halla supposed she could ask for shelter for Asgeira on the grounds of her being Halla's patient if she were to try and join the pack. Something she'd been considering anyway. "My other order of business is to request joining your pack. I met one of your wolves some time back, a ValdĂs Thyre. I was told my aunt AlfrĂșn is here. I come bringing news and to join my family if you would have me." She knew it was a lot. "Talk" |

Short, sweet and to the point, the woman dropped a lot on him all at once. Tyrian frowned down at the sick woman as he considered her plight. He was inclined to say she wasn't his problem. After all she wasn't one of his wolves and thus he had no obligation to enlist the help of one of his wolves or use his supplies to tend to her. But, and this was not something he would admit out loud, she was a very beautiful woman and for that reason he was willing to consider doing more for her than he normally would. Besides, he reasoned, trying to twist his fancy into something practical, they had a slave market coming up and at the very least if she proved not to be worth his time as a free woman, her beauty alone would draw buyers at the market. Of that he was sure.
As for the savior woman, her last name wasn't enough for him to trust her immediately, but it was enough for him to feel obligated to consider her seriously. The Finnvis were now valued members of his pack and of his family. He would be remiss if he didn't give this relative of theirs his attention. "She's in good hands," he said, nodding to Asgeira before looking around in search of his companions. Spying Zahir and Tashi, Tyrian beckoned them over. "Please see to it that this woman is treated, would you? Alarr, perhaps, if he is around. Take her to the barn for now. We'll sort out other arrangements later." His companions were quick to do as instructed.
Tyrian turned his attention to Halla. "Finnvi, you said? We have a few of your relatives here. If you'd arrived just a little bit sooner you'd have been here for Alfrun's wedding to my nephew." The wedding itself was over, but the celebrations were not. That was talk for another time. Right now was business. "If you are anything like your kin Fireside would be lucky to have you, but I'm sure you can understand that it takes more than sharing blood to get into Fireside. Tell me a bit about yourself. What kind of career are you looking for? What are your expectations here?"

Halla waited quietly as the man processed all she'd said. He ordered his companions to take the ailing woman into the territory. Halla did not protest. She'd done what she could and now she had her own mission to take care of if the alpha would accept her. She nodded as he stated her surname but as he mentioned that her aunt had gotten married her jaw dropped. Well that was some news! She was eager to see her aunt but first she needed to see if she'd be allowed to live here or if she would need to arrange for some sort of visit instead. He asked her about her career but she wasn't quite sure what that meant. Her role perhaps? "A hunter. That is my specialty. All kinds of animals from birds, to fish, to those with hooves. I hope to join my family here in your pack and aid you in filling your larder for winter and the seasons to come." She'd gained needed experience in hunting since her arrival in Boreas and each day she grew more and more familiar with the prey here. Of course she also had experience in healing but that was not her primary skill or ambition. "Talk" |

With the injured woman taken care of Tyrian could turn his attention fully to Halla. The skills necessary to be a master hunter coincidentally helped make one a good herdsman too. Fireside was always on the lookout for capable wolves. The pack was set to expand here shortly which meant soon enough it would need another land to support all of its inhabitants. More land and more wolves meant more hunting, herding and yes, raiding, to make everything work. They could use another good hunter.
"There will always be a place for skilled hunters in Fireside, and the Finnvi have been a welcome addition to our ranks," he said as he considered her. "I would wager this pack is different than what you're used to, however, so I feel it necessary to tell you a bit about it so you can make an informed decision." He would hate for her to be focused on joining her family that the Fireside lifestyle came as a surprise. "While we do plenty of wild game hunting, we also raise our own prey animals. In fact, that is a key facet of our lives here. Even if animal husbandry doesn't interest you, the odds of your duties occasionally including it in some way are pretty good. You should know that up front."
He went on, "In addition, all new recruits go through a trial period before being accepted as full members, so for your first season or so you can expect to help the herders take care of the sheep and goats in addition to your hunting duties. Everyone, hunters, healers, even fighters, starts there in the hopes that no matter where your interests take you, you'll have an appreciation for the most basic of Fireside tenets." The work was simple and it would be paired with a hunting lite version of her duties as a hunter in order to ease her into pack life. At the end of her trial period if she still wished to join them, Halla would graduate from the herder duties to the full time rank of her choosing.

Halla listened attentively as Tyrian stated that skilled hunters were welcome in Fireside but that the pack was a bit different from others. She was interested in the idea of raising prey animals and had heard of such practices being done before but she had never attempted them herself nor been closely involved with anyone that did. He went on to explain that she'd first start tending to prey in addition to her hunting duties and she nodded. "That sounds fair to me and I am curious to learn more about your practices of raising animals in this manner. I have heard of it being done but I have no experience with it. If you can provide me with teachers than I am happy to learn and assist in any way I can." "Talk" |

That, honestly, was enough for Tyrian. He was taking a bit of a leap of faith with this woman, but so far he was rather pleased with her kin so accepting her without rigorous scrutiny felt like a calculated risk. Besides, she was entering into a trial period. If she washed out, she washed out. No harm no foul. Tyrian took a deep breath and nodded to himself. His mind was made up, then. "Alright, Halla, unless you have more questions for me I think that is enough for me to accept you for a trial period of one season. During that time you will learn the basics to our way of life and at the end of it, if you and I both feel you are a good fit we will discuss a rank." He glanced in the direction his companions had gone with the ill woman, and then back to Halla. "Have you any questions before I show you around?"
