She was ready! Dagrún scrambled after Valdís who was kind of another relative because she had come down with something called marriage. Dag didn't really know exactly how they were related but they were something like aunts? Or Valdís was the aunt and she was a… was a…

Well, anyway that didn't really matter. The point was Valdís was a warrior and she was taking Dagrún on a trip to the battlefield to hopefully find her a sparring partner that wouldn't be too mean. The older woman warned her that it could be another pup or it could be an adult but Dag wasn't scared. She fight anyone! She eyed Valdís tail as they walked and she thought about reaching out and biting it but before she could act they'd arrived at the spot that Valdís had been looking for. As the older woman had informed her if she wanted a fight she needed to howl for an opponent so she threw back her head and let loose a high pitched call. Valdís joined her shortly after.

There was a quiet after the howl for only about a minute before a return challenging howl was responded to.  The tone sounded like it was another pup, and it suggested a mound of confidence that he had won before even meeting.  After a short while, Rudy and his momma came into view.  Resin had brought him out here for a chance to fight someone knew than the million other pups in the hallows, and maybe to quit hearing him ask for a chance to venture off pack land?  Whichever request it was she had decided to give into didn’t matter.  The only thing that mattered is he already had a fight ready to go! Rudy took in the sight of his opponent.  The shadowy colored pup that might be just a little taller than Rudy but not enough to make a real difference.  Either way, Art was his main opponent so far and he was bigger than Rudy also.  Rudy moved to stand just a few feet away from the strange pup, tail a bit above his backline, and had held up with a note of pride.  “I’m Rudy from the Hallows.  I challenge you to a spar.” He thought about boasting about how he was sure to win but decided to wait until after he actually won. Dagrún kept glancing about, trying to guess which direction her opponent might come from. She didn't want to get snuck up on in case someone was going to be a poop head. Thankfully she didn't have to wait long at all before someone answered her call and best of all it sounded like another pup. Yes! She'd been hoping someone else her own age would be here.

Soon a boy appeared with his guardian. He introduced himself as Rudy of he Hallows. She grinned. Another pack wolf! "Hi, I'm Dagrún of Fireside and I accept your challenge!" She faced off across from the boy and set her defenses. Her fur stood on end and her ears pinned to her head while her tail tucked. She then leapt forward and tried to bite the left side of the boys neck, right behind his jaw. At the same time she tried to wrap her arms around the base of his neck with her claws out for a better grip.

Dagrun’s greeting got a cheery wag of his tail at the pup seeming friendly.  Maybe later they could compare notes on each other’s packs. What was hers like?  She also wasted no time in starting the fight!  That worked great for Rudy, questions could come later. When she came charging at him Rudy lunged forward to meet her.  He attempted to avoid getting bit completely but failed as her teeth found his neck.  When she tried to wrap her arms about him Rudy grinned and charged forward as if trying to go under her even farther in an attempt to make Dagrun let go and if he got lucky maybe lose balance?  For good measure, the pup would try to get a bite at her leg.   Rudy had tried getting on top of a larger pup once and it hadn’t gone well, he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.  Hopefully, this idea worked better. With a fierce puppy growl, Dagrún collided with her opponent and grinned at her success as she bit onto his neck. As she did so he suddenly pushed forward. Realizing she was about to get bowled over she tried to harder to get her arms around his neck with her claws out to help her stay up right. However, she could feel herself starting to tip backwards so she drew her hind legs up and kicked out toward his chest. Her goal was to latch her hind cat claws into Rudy's flesh and manage to keep hold of her opponent even though she'd likely end up on the ground. She could already feel his teeth digging into her upper left shoulder. Refusing to give up so soon she attempted to hold on for dear life while keeping her ears and tail pinned just in case.

He had her! Rudy could feel when she was starting to tip.  Her cat-like claws were a definite surprise to Rudy, his eyes opening a bit wider at the unexpected attack.  The surprise pricks of pain had the muscles in his jaw’s clamp down a bit harder on her leg, eyes squinting. Fortunately even with his jaw clamping down harder the pup’s jaw muscles and pup teeth couldn’t do the damage of an adult wolf by far. After Rudy’s initial reaction of surprise his first actual thought was to back peddle away but changed his mind.  Rudy tried to launch himself up, to get his front feet off the ground but she was a heavy weight.  He wouldn’t be able to truly jump, and in truth his paws hardly got off the ground, but maybe it would be enough to unbalance her? As he tried to go up he’d let go of her leg for a moment, though he intended to bite at it again a half second later if he could.  A snarl of a determined pup escaping his throat. If he couldn’t get her off she was sure to win, but if he could knock her off she should end up off balance and he would win, right?
