too many kids

Twelve. Askan was pretty sure he'd counted twelve puppy heads roaming around this place and needless to say he wasn't all that pleased. Yeah it wasn't his place to say who belonged in the Hallows or not, he was lucky that Resin wanted to keep him around at all considering all the bitching he got up to but he felt as though his concerns were more than valid. That he had the right to air his thoughts without having to worry about getting shot down before the words passed his maw.
Maybe he was biased since he wasn't all that much fond of puppies but come on, Resin surely knew what she was doing, right? She was smart-for an old woman- couldn't she see that they were walking a dangerously thin line. That the pack was full to bursting with little paws that were far too young to pull their weight. All of the adults workloads had been doubled to ensure that they could not only provide for all these hungry mouths, but to also make sure the were kept safe within the Hallow's borders. It was hard work at the best of time but as things stood it was exhausting, no doubt souring Askan's mood further as he stomped along the border on patrol As per usual.
Then there was Habari, and the other packs the Hallows was snuggled up to like they were bedfellows. His expression twisted into a grimace, with each thumping step the urge to find someone and chew their ear off grew with a rapid intensity. Just Askan things.

All things considered, for the little man thing were going well, he'd managed to meet one of the other pups that lived in the Hallows and even make friends with her, despite his other difficulties. He'd had a good day with his dad and now he was mostly feeling comfortable enough to explore further and further from the den. Maybe a little too far if he was being honest but inquisitive minds wanted to know what existed beyond the bounds of his parent's careful rules and watch. He knew well enough not to get too close to the pool of water and so mostly found himself pacing along near the border, his eyes wide as he drew in another strong scent that felt totally foreign to the one he knew meant home... what did that mean? He didn't exactly have anyone to answer that for him so he instead filed that away until an adult could help him make sense of it. He was at least not so curious as to cross the border, something inside him telling him doing so was probably a bad idea. Instead, he'd settled, sprawled really, onto his haunches, hind legs splayed out and his tongue lolling from his open mouth as he was bombarded by question after question after question with no escape or outlet for his curiosity. His mismatched ears perked at the sound of paws growing closer and he lifted bright green eyes to see an earthen man drawing closer. "Hhhhhhhhey!" He exclaimed, tiny tail beating the ground at the site of someone who might be able to help answer his questions. "Speech" |
