beginning to the end Most of Faolan's recent adventures had to do with being awake in the morning. He was eager to see the day, he supposed, and that didn't seem to be a problem. However, without the watchful eye of either parent nearby, Faolan didn't feel as bold as he did with them around. He needed Silent or Bronze for that reassurance, that in case anything happened to him, they would be there to scoop him up into their loving paws. So, he kept his little body within the safety of their den's entrance, eagerly waiting for the other members of his small family to wake up. Before he knew it, both parents had stirred and ushered the other three puppies to leave the den. He bumped his little body next to Mercury's, sticking close to his only brother's side. Today was probably going to be a day where they stuck near each other. If Mercury wasn't keen on it, then Faolan would find something else to do. All in all, he was eager for the day to start. The first thing Faolan noticed was that there weren't any morning catches. Bronze usually went out and caught a few things for the young ones to choose from, but not this particular morning. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't question it. It wasn't polite to just waltz up to the man of the household and say, 'I'm hungry. FEED ME!' Instead, Faolan began to think of ways he could capture something for him and his siblings. Looking over at Mercury with the same puzzled expression, he said in a low voice, "I'm hungry. Wanna come with me to see if we can catch food?" The bad part about this idea was that Faolan had NO idea how to hunt. Puppy Talk foreverFAOLAN ARADCOR |

Alone on the outside, so tired of looking in It was odd to have no breakfast out waiting for his as soon as the light began to wake him up. His parents were always so good at keeping them well fed, it seemed like something about today would be incredibly different. He found his eyes blinking open as the day would begin, Faolan's form taking up most of his attention. He wasn't sure where their parental units found themselves, but he was quite ready to go exploring himself. "I'm hungry. Wanna come with me to see if we can catch food?" His small black tail would wag happily at the thought of exploring the land with his brother, though he wasn't sure how they would find food on their own. He had a hard enough time eating what his parents brought to him. Maybe they could find some tasty bugs! Let's go! I wanna catch food! He pushed himself from the ground to follow his brother's lead. beginning to the end Faolan's excitement level began to mount. He tried to hide it, but as it got higher inside his puppy body, he began to tremor. The silver pup quickly looked over his shoulder to see where his sisters and parents were. Ara and Jendai had begun to settle down near Silent, who was nuzzling them and encouraging them in small talk. Bronze was nearby, sniffing out the area and looking for who knows what. A wide grin spread across the male's face and he turned to look at Mercury before sprinting off into the underbrush. After his brother had found his way next to him, Faolan looked at the wide expanse of their home. He hadn't seen it since his expedition with Silent and Ara to the forest of willows, so of course he was enthralled. Scents hit his nose left and right and he immediately tried to separate them all. He couldn't help but be overwhelmed by them, causing him to nervously sneeze. They temporarily left him and he looked at Mercury as he said, "There are so many scents, Mercury. How are we going to tell which one leads to the right food?" There was a hint of doubt in his voice, but his eyes had a flame that spoke volumes of how much he wanted this. Turning his head to look at how Seracia stretched before them, he bravely padded away from the safety of their underbrush to set out. One scent in particular - rabbit, it was familiar from the ones Bronze had brought home - stood out and he tried to figure if it was stale or fresh. With the pungent aroma hitting his nose fast, he assumed it was fresh. Faolan looked at Mercury again and said, "I smell rabbit. Do you?" He waited to hear Mercury's response before he got ready to hightail it. Scent only lasted so long. Puppy Talk foreverFAOLAN ARADCOR |

Alone on the outside, so tired of looking in Both of the boys could feel the excitement welling up within them. They would be all on their own for the first time trying to secure themselves a meal. Mercury was still slightly at a loss as to if they'd even catch anything. He had yet to go on a hunting expedition and so the hope for success was quite grim. It didn't help when Faolan's words fell from pale lips. "There are so many scents, Mercury. How are we going to tell which one leads to the right food?" Mercury's own nose would inhale at the scents he wished to identify, and he found it hard to single out a single one. Everything belnded so well together, it was difficult to tell what was going on. He could easily identify wolves by their scent, but he had only taken notice in close proximities and fresh trails. "I don' smell any prey Faolan." It seemed that his brother had caught something before Mercury could even try. He would walk confidently from the underbrush as he voiced his discovery, "I smell rabbit. Do you?" Mercury followed his pallid brother and put his nose to the scent, it was certainly rabbit. "I do! Lets get it!" His grin was wide. He hoped Faolan knew what he was doing, because he'd only be good at scaring a poor rabbit. But I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope And that makes me feel brave [Mercury] |

beginning to the end Although Faolan was acting like he knew what he was doing, in all honesty, he was lost. The scent that had attacked his nose could have been anything, but in his mind, it smelled like the meat Bronze would bring home every other day. Their father tried to alternate the food he brought home, intending to give his children the chances to eat varieties of meat so they wouldn't be picky eaters. So, he stopped for a few seconds, sniffed the air again, and then his small doubts were confirmed. Yup. Definitely rabbit! The trail that the brothers followed led them to a piece of one of Seracia's fields. The grass was gold at the tips and in time, it would look like a golden lake swaying in the breeze. Both brothers were clueless about this, however, as their minds were on the prospect - however grim - of finding that rabbit! He lowered his nose to the ground and began to sniff at the slowly fading trail. His paws carried him to a rabbit hole that was concealed by a large patch of the grass nearby. Faolan looked at Mercury and whispered, "If you scare them out of the hole, I can try and get one! Whatcha think?" Puppy Talk foreverFAOLAN ARADCOR |
