Dagrún settled by the giant river to do some crafting while Halla rested and prayed. She'd managed to convince her cousin to take her out for a little adventure so she could practice on making fire and clay. She was getting pretty good at it now, especially with Sperla's help. In truth she wasn't for sure if Halla was her cousin. She knew they had the same last way and were related some how but cousin sounded good to her.

Dagrún immediately set about getting a fire started. There weren't a lot of large rocks around that she felt she could move so she decided to dig a fire pit. Dag took her paws and immediately started scrapping through earth to dig a pit. While she dug she looked around for a good crafting rock for her clay. The moment she saw one she paused in her digging.

She bounded back over to Halla's travois and picked up a rabbit skin wrapped around a lump of clay. She set it down and rolled the lump out onto the stone. Halla said she could play with as much clay as she wanted so Dag intended to take advantage of the opportunity.

Gossamer was traveling to the river with Natha. The cat was going fishing and Gossy just wanted to go out exploring so while the cat fished she wandered along the river with Ásta. As Ásta was basically wolf sized she was able to wander without the cat hovering over her shoulder. After talking with the fox the duo decided to make some chamomile tea to warm them up on a chilly and cloudy fall day. The fox informed her that chamomile could also be used to help the swelling in her ankle from a stumble earlier in the day.

Gossamer found a large grouping of chamomile and she picked several stems that still bore flowers. Gossamer started to snip the flowering tops off of them, dividing them into two piles. One for the tea and one for the poultice. It was then she noticed another pup nearby. "Hey!" she called out. "What are you doing? Are you making a fire?"

Dagrún turned her attention back to the fire ring which she finished digging. Now the needed sticks. The pup started wandering beneath the trees for any sticks she could find that would work. Whenever she found one she snatched it and trotted back to the fire ring where she started stacking the sticks with the largest ones at the bottom and the smaller tinder on top.

Dagrún looked up as she heard a young voice call out to her and she was surprised to see another pup her age. The girl had a bunch of plants and seemed to realize she was making a fire. "Yep! I'm Dagrún Finnvi, who are you?" While she listened for the girls answer she started kneading the clay she planned to make a pot out of, carefully starting to build up the walls of the pot.

Gossamer grinned as the girl said she was building a fire. Perfect, that meant she wouldn't need to build her own if the other girl would share. "I'm Gossamer Fatalis. Princess of the Ashen Armada." She beamed proudly before scooping up her items and wandering over toward where the girl was working with some clay. "Can I use your fire? I'm making some tea."

Gossamer reached into her bag and pulled out two ceramic bowls. She put an ounce of the flowers in one bowl for tea and several other flowers in the other for the poultice. Taking a deer fibula in her mouth, she titled her head so the balled end would mash the chamomile flowers for the tea and for the poultice. She worked back and forth between the bowls until she was satisfied with the results.

Dagrún's ears perked up as the other girl introduced herself as a princess of some armada. She was skeptical at first to think a princess was allowed to wander without any body guards but then she saw the wolf with her… err… fox? Seemed awful big for a fox and she knew that wolves could have all kinds of coloring. She opted to just let it slide. "Sure, you can use the fire. Let me just get it going here." Dag wanted to impress this girl and she hoped not to make an idiot of herself.

Dag wandered over to her travois and pulled out a chunk of flint which she set on the fire ring. She then grabbed a small steel rod. She set one paw on the flint to hold it stead with her weight. Then, with the steel in her teeth, she twisted her head sharply so that the steel struck against the flint. She did this several times, pausing to adjust the steel in her teeth until the kindling finally caught a spark and slowly grew into a small flame, eventually spreading to he rest of the tinder.

She grinned proudly at the other girl. "A fire for her highness," she winked. Dagrún then settled down next to her clay to finish making her bowl. She pushed the walls a little higher then smoothed out the top with her paw pads.

Gossamer giggled as the other girl started a fire and winked at her. She needed to work on practicing her own fire making skills, she'd mostly been having Ásta make them for her. Taking her water skin, Gossy added a little less than a pint of water to the bowl for her tea. She then added a lid to he bowl as Ásta had informed her that the good stuff in chamomile could evaporate. She carefully scooted the bowl to the fire before turning back to the poultice mixture. She added just enough water to get things wet before scooting that ceramic bowl near the fire as well. She'd let it heat and mash it more until it was a pulp, cool enough to apply.

In the mean time she opted to settle down and gab with the other girl. Maybe they had similar interests and could do some more crafting together some time.
