Ophie felt like she was falling behind, that all of her siblings were doing really well in their fight training and practicing and she just...wasn't. It wasn't for lack of trying or persistence, she always left the den every morning putting her best paw forward but when she wasn't very good or talented that didn't amount to much. Or at least that's how it felt. Not wanting to bring shame to the Fatalis name, Ophie knew she had to up the ante and put more work in. Even if that meant pestering her siblings for some spars. But which one? Try as she might to befriend her siblings none of them...well maybe she was over thinking this but they didn't seem to like her all that much. By no means were they mean-or at the very least obvious about it- but she just felt weird about it. Like the shoe didn't fit. She adored playing and hanging out with them but they rarely sought her ought on their own accord, she was just their stinky sister who tried a little too hard to fit in. But then again maybe she was just overthinking things, again. Just Ophie things.

Deciding to seek out out the only brother of her little, little Ophie crept along with her belly to the ground, further staining her coat with sand. It was easy to find him, considering he was mid argument with his companion and that made it even easier to sneak up on him too. Each foot step was slow and measured, she moved at a molasse crawl until- WAH! She reared up onto her hind legs, springing out from behind a rock as she launched herself forward, ready to give Kotori a playful slap on the rump.

Kotori’s front end was low to the ground so his head was almost resting on the ground, glaring at his mongoose, “I don’t care.  Your name is Fang.  Get over it.”

The mongoose was certainly not approving with the angry sounds and fast gestures, showing his little teeth at the wolf pup.  Perhaps it had its own name it preferred?  Kotori had thought of it but the pup didn’t really care as the mongoose was his now and so it was his to name.  That’s what it got for choosing to stay with him.

Kotori was about to respond to the complaints when suddenly his rump got slapped!  Kotori spun around letting out a mighty warning growl or at least it was mighty in his own mind maybe not so much to others.  “Ophie!” It was his sister that had slapped him? Kotori hunkered down his front end, ears going flat and his ‘mighty’ growl came back more playfully, “You’ll pay for that!”

Kotori leaped up with all fight off the ground intending to crash into his smaller sister, with the intent to bite at her ear.  They were supposed to keep them low right? That meant if you could get a chance you should definitely bite the enemy's ear and he was bigger than her so jumping on top of his little sister seemed a great idea.  On top of all that it also sounded like fun!

Ophie didn't mean any harm, she just wanted to play. At first Kotori sounded really mad, like she'd gone and upset him, but the words that passed his lips sounded more playful then angry. The tension that formed in her shoulder soon melted away as her tail wagged in a blur as she grinned, all toothy with her eyes pinching at the corners. She was happiest when she was with her family. She wiggled on the spot when he warned he'd get her back for that, ready to spring into action at a moments notice. Her brother was considerably taller than her, a little heavier on his paws, so she knew if he crash landed on her there was little chance that she'd be able to wiggle free. So her only option was not to get caught, right?

That sounded about right, or at least was as close she'd get to strategizing. That mindset would come later-probably-for now she was just here to have fun.

Ophie dipped out of the way with a laugh, only to stick out her tongue as she mimicked his crouching posture. Whilst she didn't seem to take to fighting as naturally as her other siblings there was a lot to learn by just watching them spar. At first it didn't even occur to her that she ought to lower her ears, or tuck her tail, but she soon followed suit as she cooked up a little plan. Oh this would get him good! Ophie reached up and out with a forelimb, this time attempting to give his snoot a boop. Not a move she'd seen performed in a proper spar but who cared, Ophie certainly didn't.

Well darn.  He missed and her ears were down now.  That was fine.  He would just uh.. The thought stopped when her next attack was to whack at his nose.  Nope, Kotori couldn’t let that go!  She got his nose, surprise sort of lead to that happening.  Kotori lunged his head forward to bite at her arm, giving a great threatening mock puppy growl and if he got her paw shaking it with his back feet braced.  He was being careful on his sister, not going at her with quite the same amount of force he might have with some of the others.

The tail that should be used for balance or tucked for protection was currently slightly above his body, wagging in enjoyment of the playful spar.  He might have teased her but it would have meant offering her an opening.  If you’re talking where you can be understood you probably aren’t biting anything.

Okay maybe Ophie wasn't quite as fast as she'd first thought. Oops! She meant to pull her paw away out of reach but before she could her brother's teeth pricked against her toes, halting her momentum as he tugged her back. It turned into a little match of tug of war then. Ophie leaning her weight back as she wriggled and attempted to free herself from his grasp. It didn't hurt though, he could have chomped down real hard and made her yelp in pain, but Kotori was a good brother and he'd always treated her right.

Shifting her weight back onto her hind legs so she was tilted up on her haunches, Ophie reached out again, hoping to donk him on the head with her free front paw. Again. Cause it was her favourite go to move, more pesky than effective but it wasn't as of they were battling to the death. As if they were ready or even capable of such a thing just yet, babies they were.

Kotori couldn’t grin very well at his sister with her paw in his mouth so he just winked at Ophie.  Winking at her apparently earned a donk on his head.  He couldn’t exactly stop her paw with the other one in his mouth.  Fine.

Kotori let go giving his sister a wicked little grin before leaping to pounce and hopefully knock her to the ground.  It was time to wrap this up!  Maybe he’d underestimate her and she’d get away but he hoped not.  This was hardly a spar to worry about injuries but it was still training!  Losing against one of his sisters wasn’t acceptable at any time either way!  If his pounce worked and he got her on the ground his final attack would be to lick her forehead.
