Sundara Sheyar
It wasn't often that the woman walked alone anymore. Sundara saw no need for outside sources of protection, but she'd come to rely perhaps a bit too heavily on the sound of another's voice to fill the silence in her head, the presence of another to warm the air in her immediate vicinity. Too long, she'd been on her own, before she'd found her travelling partner, that it almost felt...sinful...straying from her now. It needed to happen, though. 'Dara needed to make opportunities for herself to do what she needed to do--and what she needed to do had do be done alone.

Steam swirled about her snout as she let out a heavy sigh. Her heavy form came to a halt in the snow, her speckled pelt rippling around her form like a lion's mane about his neck. Part of her hoped that they'd make this easy, that if she stood there long enough someone might materialize from the shadows and announce themselves as her family. Here and there, her ears swiveled, gently coaxing her head to turn in all the same directions as she quietly sought movement on the horizon. Until she spotted another figure.

A blink, and she started toward it, head leveling with her spine and shoulders--not quite submissive, but hopefully not so imposing either as to shoo away her newest acquaintance. Though, as she slowly closed the distance between herself and the stranger, she found that he very easily rivaled her in size. 'Dara smirked. I wonder if I make it all look that good, she thought fleetingly, just barely managing to get the words out of her system before they could slip from her loose maw. She stopped before she sensed she'd pop a personal bubble.

"Afternoon, stranger."

He often wondered about these woods. Keeping eye on the lonars that passed by, and searching for any predators that sought to roost in its depths. It was too close to home not to, and often enough scavengers had been brave enough to dare his borders. He liked to cut out potential issued at the roots.

Marshal cried a warning above him, and he came-to. Alertness buzzing in his veins as he searched for the unknown that his companion spoke of. He saw her after a time, her reddish tones standing out in the woods. The spreckle of snow across her muzzle only ensured her eyes would pop with color. There was a hint of faint scarring he couldn’t quite see from this distance.

As she approached, it coalesced into a very familiar pattern. The type he saw day to day in the faces of his kids. This was no marking, however, the ridges of scarring were beneath the fur. Her scent seemed… almost familiar. Strangely so, though he could not place a paw on it. She stopped before reaching the point where he would be forced to snarl at her, as through sensing the invisible barrier of what he would allow. “Afternoon.” he returned, raising his head to gain another sniff. No, still a mystery, he couldn’t name the scent. “What brings you to these woods?”
