Valentine slid out from under his tractor to stand for a long moment blinking into the early morning sun. He stretched with a groan that quickly morphed into a yawn and then, with his eyes closed more often than open, the old king circled around the tractor. At its backside was an old metal bucket turned upside down. Still blinking sleepily and moving mostly on autopilot, Valentine stepped onto the bucket and then one of the rotted out rear wheels where he stopped to brace for another yawn. After a round of blinking to clear the yawn-induced tears from his eyes Valentine heaved himself up onto the roof of the tractor's cab. He stood there, surveying his kingdom bathed in the rising sun, nodded his approval begrudgingly, and then turned his back on the cheery scene and flopped down with a dismissive sigh.
There was a soft screeching of claws on metal and Valentine's ears slicked back in preemptive annoyance. Some snuffs, more scratching, a sigh...and then, fuck, he was right; a familiar brown and white striped snout popped over the hood. Valentine growled. A paw with long claws followed the nose and then another. Lefty peeked at him from between her paws, her stupid beady eyes promising she was going to ruin his morning. He curled his lip at her and watched her expression go innocent. She then casually heaved herself up onto the hood and padded over to the cab. Her claws made soft tapping sounds on the glass as she leaned against it and stretched to her full height. "Gee bub what are we gonna do toda-" Before she could finish Valentine swept her off the glass with a swift backhand. There was a soft, satisfying thump in the grass below and then silence.
He sighed. All he needed was a warm bowl of something and his morning would be perfect.

The early morning glow was astounding over the range. Zora made her way comfortably over the golden landscape with the graces of the powers that be allowing her passage into the pack. Her mind had danced circles around the charming wolf named Valentine and Zora couldn't imagine anything more wonderful than trying to spend a little more time with him. As she came to the tractor, she saw his massive form lounging on the metal structure, a halo of sunshine highlighting the outline of his body and loose furs. She watched him for a moment, just taking in the breathtaking view and how it stirred her heart and made her breathing shallow. How was she so lucky to have met such a wolf? Eventually she let out a wistful sigh without realizing it, a warm smile stuck on her maw. While she could have sat and watched the pleasant scene all day, she figured that might come across a little too odd for most wolves' taste. She began to walk closer, clearing her throat lightly to warn him of her approach. "Valentine? Good morning," she called softly. |

Warm sun, a good view, and a backhanded skunk...if Valentine had been a little more feline he'd have been purring. It was an excellent start to the day. Only one thing could make it better and- oh, there she was. His lovely little sunrise was weaving through the drying grasses. Zora had been exactly what he had needed to get out and about again. She'd lit a fire under him. In more ways than one. Her presence alone was enough to take years off of him. He wished he'd found a Zora sooner. "Good morning," he said in a voice laced with affection. He sat up with his neck arched and his chin tucked like a randy stallion. "Care to join me?" The roof of the cab was a touch small but that just meant they would have to get cozy. Valentine scooted over a little and lifted his arm to show her there was room. Two little hops to clear a wheel and the hood, three if you counted the first leap over the dramatic skunk, and she could snuggling up to him under the eye of the rising sun. To her credit Lefty was taking the backhand remarkably well. She lay on her side rubbing her head with her beady little eyes fixed on Valentine. Even though she was bathed in shadow from the tall grasses Valentine could see the promise of vengeance in her eyes. Something about that made his morning even better. "" |

A gentle wag of her tail when Valentine acknowledged her, even if her heart was beating rapidly in her chest. She would be polite. She wouldn't show how blissfully desperate she was to melt into his side as the sun rose overhead. He invited her up- just what she was hoping for. Even before he showed her that there was, in fact, room, she was already convinced she'd make herself fit. With an airy giggle, Zora made her way to clear her first jump when movement caught her eye. She was startled at first and drew back with a soft but abrupt exhale. "Why-" she locked eyes with the little creature in the grass below her. "Oh... mygod." Her eyes shot up towards Valentine her shock and adoration apparent. "Is this girl your little friend, Valentine?" Her eyes went back to Lefty. If she could have made heart eyes, she would have been. "Hey little buddy- don't worry I wont hurt you," she cooed and fawned. "What's your name? Oh- Valen does she speak??" |
