More wolves would have been better to have, but the opportunity had presented itself so perfectly that Resin couldn't turn it down. While out patrolling with Sota, the pair came across a decently sized herd of the creatures that she wanted to collect and breed. There were many different colors in this bunch. Situated up on one of the many rolling hills, the massive woman sat and watched them, learning their behaviors, their hierarchy, every little thing that she could manage. The day was fairly mild and the sunlight overhead dipped in and out of the clouds. Prime time for hunting and herding, she thought. Turning her attention to the small brute beside her, the ashen woman spoke. "I imagine these will be somewhat easy to deal with. If we breed them, we would have something fairly valuable to trade. What do you think?" Black-backed ears erect, she waited to see what Sota would have to say on the matter. The opinions of all of her wolves were important. She hadn't spent much time with the small man, but she was just as interested in his thoughts as she would be in someone that she spent time with daily. "Speech"

Joining Resin on a patrol was something Sota felt honored to do. He'd been busy settling in to his new home and now that he'd found a suitable room in the castle to call his own, he was feeling even better about things. He knew the rest of the pack had been doing the same and tending to the younger members of The Hallows, but now that they were all getting settled in it was starting to feel like things were going back to normal. Well - as normal as things here were. Though he was familiar with parts of Auster, he wasn't familiar with all these lands and each day seemed to offer a new, interesting surprise.

Today's was apparently, alpacas.

Sota joined her in their period of observation. They seemed hearty enough to be useful. He briefly thought to their trip here, and wondered if the sleds they'd fastened might be able to be pulled by them. "I think they'd definitely be valuable," he agreed quickly. He wasn't so sure how easily they'd be corralled but he had a feeling he was about to find out. "They might be useful for travel and helping carry heavier loads, maybe." Perhaps not as much as some animals he'd seen, but it was a thought. He cast a curious glance at her, wondering what she thought. Either way he thought her idea a good one and supposed with time they'd learn what else they could be useful for - he'd never even seen one before himself.

Resin listened to the words of Sota. They were wise observations and ideas and she nodded as he spoke. Perhaps they very well could be used as beasts of burden. To pull the large cart they would have to harness several of the beasts together. It could work or it could be an utter failure. She supposed it all depended on how acclimated the creatures became to the predators that would care for them. Catching Sota's glance, the grey and black woman gave a nod. "I'll have the pups take a heavy hand in their care. They're old enough to contribute and it will teach them responsibility." With a sigh and a nod, Resin got to her paws. "Well, let's collect our quarry, shall we?" It should be an easy enough feat to herd the group through the wide opening into the field that had already been fenced off. Easy pressure from either side. Resin had herded larger things into smaller spaces. Casting her lone gaze to Sota, the Aegis asked, "Your leg is healed? This should just be an easy lope. I'll be on one side, you'll be on the other. It's almost a straight shot to the field beside the castle." If he wasn't feeling up to it, she could come back later with more able bodies. His safety and comfort was more imporant. "Speech"

Getting them used to the wolves that would ultimately control them would be the hardest part.. though perhaps they hadn't seen enough wolves to be truly afraid of them? Sota wasn't sure. Auster was much less inhabited than the northern continent and it didn't seem a far stretch to think that some of these alpacas had never encountered wolves before. Either way they could likely be easily spooked, it was just a matter of how long that fear lasted, or how strong it ended up being. Sota nodded in agreement at Resin's plan, turning his attention back to the small group of alpaca.

"Yes, my leg's all healed now. I'm not sure it'll be one hundred percent right for awhile, but I get around just fine," he admitted with a grin. He might not be as swift as he once had been but he had no doubt that he could tend to the task at hand. "Let's do it!" He exclaimed quietly before setting off on the side opposite Resin, aiming to make a wide loop around the group of alpaca. He'd never done anything quite like this but he was confident it'd be feasible if he focused. His brow furrowed tightly together as he glanced across the way at Resin, who no doubt had caught up to him quickly. The alpaca between them began to slowly stir as he drew in, quite uneasy at being surrounded though not quite at their breaking point yet.

The minuscule man assured her that he was well enough for the task and she nodded, accepting his word. If it became too much, she trusted that he would tell her so. Since he was ready, she wasted no time. Sota took one side and she took the other. The ash and onyx fae kept her pace leisurely, though it was just enough to press the herd into action. Resin spared them glances here and there, but she didn't want the long necked beasts to feel any sense of danger from the wolves as they pushed them along. There were so many things that they could do with these creatures. They could be eaten, of course. They could also be traded between packs. She imagined that they could find a way to shear off their thick pelts and utilize that some way. Perhaps they could make thick, plush cushions for sleeping on. Castle floors were cold, especially in the winter. She was brought back to a memory of Iolaire crafting a raised platform bed when she was in the Armada. Maybe someone with nimble paws in the pack might recreate such a thing. If they were able, she would give them the task of creating one for each member before winter struck. A few of the alpacas began to stray on her side and Resin altered her speed somewhat, pulling ahead and making sure that they saw her. The creatures drifted right back into line without much effort. The castle loomed up ahead. They had but a short distance to go. The awaiting field was large. Ample enough space for the small herd, she thought. Resin and Sota need only push them through the wide opening and close up the hole behind them. Easy, she hoped, unless one or more balked at the last second. "Speech"

Sota moved along without much effort. His leg was fully healed, but with all injuries it had a tendency to flare up when the weather was cold or wet; luckily today was neither of those things and he was feeling quite good, and capable of efficiently helping Resin with this task she'd asked him to join in with. Sota wasn't completely sure what purpose these beasts would ultimately serve but it seemed a worthwhile task regardless, at least to him. Since this castle would be a more permanent home it made sense to start some endeavors that would benefit them in the long run.

His short legs carried him along, occasionally redirecting his path and speed as a few alpacas began to stray to the side. It was a delicate balance, keeping them in a group and moving in one direction. Once he swore the group was about to splinter but he pulled ahead a bit more quickly and they easily fell back into line. The castle grew larger as they neared it, carefully veering toward the entrance to the field. It wasn't too difficult to get them angled in the wide opening as they drew closer - not quite effortless, but it wasn't a super difficult feat with their careful movements. As the herd began to filter in Sota glanced across at Resin to further instruction.

It seemed that luck was on their side today. The small herd moved into the field without much fuss and scampered off to graze now that the predators were no longer following them. Resin caught Sota's glance and motioned towards the opening in the fence. They had to put the trees in place and close up the gap. Moving forward, she took up one sapling between her teeth and placed it in a little divot in the nearest stone pillar. These little pillars were placed at even distances all the way around the field. A few had to be repaired, but they were good enough for now. The saplings would create a fence that would keep the alpacas inside. They would graze and Resin imagined that their diets would have to be supplemented somewhat. After placing the opposite side of the sapling in the divot on the other side, the ashen woman moved to stand beside Sota. She looked out over the field at the grazing beasts. Their little tails were wagging about. They seemed content so far. Hopefully they acclimated to their new home and their captors quickly. "Thank you for your help today, Sota. I appreciate it." She cast the small man one of her faint smiles before looking back out over the field. The sun was working its way towards the horizon now. They'd achieved their goal just in time. "Speech"
