Weren't bears supposed to be asleep when it snowed? Why then was this one trying to bite Chimeras face off? The boy had been passing through when he'd stumbled upon the lumbering form. The bear looked as though it was searching for fallen fruit beneath the snow. When it saw him though, it stood on its hind legs and roared at him, its long lips quivering. Chi tucked his ears, nose wrinkling as he flashed his own teeth in warning. A warning that went unheeded, unfortunately.

The grizzly rushed him and Chi skittered backwards in the snow. He wasn't in the mood for this shit today. The quicker wolf skirted around the side and sank his teeth into the bear's hind leg. Blood filled his mouth but the small success was short lived. The bear spun, flinging the tri-colored boy rolling through the snow. He was up in an instant. Good thing too. The bear was almost on him.

Hikaru’s paws weren’t often restless, he was quite content where he was, but as spring drew more near he found himself out and about more often. He’d gotten into the habit of wearing a fluffy brown fur over his shoulders when he didn’t have Mortis beside him. The winged heir was the best at keeping him warm, but he’d manage to get by with the coat.

What he didn’t expect was to run into Chimera again. Silver eyes widened slightly as he took in the slightly younger man’s form and the massive bear that was hot on his tail. Hika was always swift to rush into trouble, especially when it came to the Ashen wolf. He’d almost be amused if the bear weren’t so dangerous.

The creature rushed at Chimera and Hikaru responded in kind, aiming to take the bear’s attention so Chimera could make a much more effective attack.

Tail tucked, Chimera ran until he put a bit of distance between himself and the lumbering behemoth. Really, he could have just continued to run, but a grumpy bear so close to both his pack and the pack of an ally was far from ideal. He needed to teach this beast that wolves were not to be trifled with. Thankfully, he would have some backup. Hikaru, the same spotted man that had happened upon Chimera's foul luck in the past, rushed towards the grizzly, effectively pulling its attention towards him. It stopped chasing the black and white wolf and slowed to turn its attention to the second brute. Chi slowed and curled around, giving the bear a wide berth until he could line up a decent attack. Head lowered with his spine, the dire crept forward until he could sink his shark teeth into one of the grizzly's heels. He thrashed his head a bit, seeking to do as much damage as possible. This was about scaring away, not about killing. The bear was much too big for the pair of them alone. Hikaru wasn't exactly large. "Chimera Quill Klein"

Hikaru wanted to help and take the beast's attention, and he would get its full attention. Deciding not to make a stand against a bear that was at the very least three or four times his size. He did get it off Chimera’s tail as intended, he only hoped Chi would use the opportunity accordingly. Hikaru raced like he hadn’t moved before to stay out of range of those massive knife-like claws.

Right on time Hika heard the bear bellow in pain as razor sharp teeth ripped through hide. Hikaru turned about face so the bear had two places to potentially place the blame on the blood flowing freely from him. Hika made a mock charge, which would hopefully keep enough of the bear’s attention that Chimera would feel the full force of the massive beast.

The pair seemed to be working well together by now. This happened to them often enough. With his teeth in the bears heel, Chimera pulled, planting his paws and putting his entire weight against that of the upright bear. The beast toppled, landing hard on its front paws. With the bears appendage still in his jaws, Chi shook his head again. He didn't have to wonder how long he could get away with it because the bear was turning a moment later. A wide paw swiped outwards in a half hearted attack. Chi could see the apprehension and anxiety in the ursine's black eyes. With a snarl and a snap, the young wolf did his own mock charge at the bear. It seemed as though it had finally gotten the memo. With a bellow of displeasure, the bleeding bear began limping away from the pair of wolves. Chimera was terribly pleased with himself and offered Hikaru a nod of thanks. Look at that, he was being nice and acknowledging his existence. Maybe they would end up being friends after all. "Chimera Quill Klein"

Hikaru had a habit of being in the right place at the right time, and as time went on more and more so in Chimera’s case. Knowing the animals they fought wouldn’t eagerly show their faces around the Empire. Well, giant croc excluded, they wouldn’t likely meet up with a beast like that within the packs borders. With the both of them working against the bear it did eventually give up, but not after its leg was torn to pieces by the bigger wolf.

With one final note of protest the beast turned tail and limped off. Hikaru and Chimera probably wouldn’t have been able to kill the creature so the victory was in driving it further from Ashen and the Armada. Hikaru was surprised when Chimera even acknowledged his presence in a slight nod of thanks or approval he wasn’t sure. Hikaru returned the gesture, and deciding not to push his luck, turned to make his way home.
