Shae <3
She had resorted to gnawing at a stick between her paws, antsy and ready to do something. She debated hunting down a sibling, because maybe the cold wouldn’t seem so bad if she at least had some company to brave the weather with her, but even then the daunting grey skies that had devoured the sun didn’t seem as appealing as just gnawing on the stick in front of her. Stupid, stupid cold. At least the rapids were still rushing. When she had been out earlier in the day, a nearby stream had been completely frozen through when it hadn’t been just a few days before! She was restless, and honestly she just wanted something to do.
She was just so bored. Ugh.
Shae tumbled in through the fur door and collapsed in a pile at Satire’s paws. Shae looked up at her from upside down, bright blue and lavender eyes blinking at Satire’s garnet gaze. The girl grinned brightly, and without warning lifted her little paws and aimed to press her cold toes on Satire’s cheeks. Already Shae was giggling to herself at making her sister endure the cold.
“Stop it!” She complained as she instantly rose to her feet and backed away from her sister’s antics. She gave her pelt a nice shake, a frown on her features with an annoyed look in her eyes. “Take your frozen paws to the fire or somewhere else, just keep them away from my face!” She complained again, clearly not a fan. She lowered her haunches a little bit in case her sister got the idea to attempt to freeze her to death again. She would not be such an easy target this time around.
”Aww, but your cheeks are so warm!” Shae pouted lightly but she wouldn’t press Satire too heavily. The silver marked puppy lowered herself into a play bow, her tail wagging at her hips as she got a mischievous look in her eye. ”Do you wanna warm up with me?” She growled playfully. ”We can practice spar!” Her tail managed to wag even faster, Shae wasn’t feeling quite so cooped up, but she always had extra energy to spare.
It was the mention of warming up that caught her interest, her gaze finding her sister as a mischievous grin lit her features and her eyes narrowed playfully. “How?” She asked. Her sister explained and her tail started to wag at a pace to rival her sister’s. “You are so on. Winner gets to sit closer to the fire?” Satire was all about putting some stakes behind their little encounter. Her rump shook from side to side as she got ready to pounce, looking for her sister to start it off since it had been her idea.
”And has to do the other one’s chores tonight.” The tiny girl raised a pale brow as she raised the stakes, eager to win and take the spot by the fire and not have to worry about doing her work that night. She could just snuggle up with mama and papa and fall asleep. Still, Shae didn’t wait for an answer and swiftly aimed to leap at her sister. Going for a grip around her neck, a bear hug and a bite to one dark ear.

Her sister came at her without hesitating and Satire shifted to the side to just barely offset herself, pulling her head in a rearing fashion away from her sister to expose the spot of her head just next to her ear rather than her ear. She felt teeth make contact as paws wrapped around her. She bent her legs, pushing off the ground as she tried to throw her sister off balance, hoping to knock her to the ground so Satire could swoop in and claim a victory.

Satire was suddenly in her grasp as her arms wrapped around her neck and teeth connected with loose neck skin. Her sister was then pushing her forward and over. Shae squealed, but held on tightly and aimed to bring Satire down with her. Again, she’d try and get her teeth around her sister’s dark ear too. She wouldn’t rest until that soft sensitive appendage was in her teeth!

Her sister squealed and Satire grinned, feeling victory in her grasp though perhaps it was simply false confidence, feeling as her sister kept her grip and pulled her down with her, letting out a squeal of her own. He opened her muzzle, trying to bite at her sister’s leg in the hopes of getting her to release her hold on her, but felt her sister’s teeth over her ear. Ugh. She squealed again.

”Okay! I give up! I give up!” She squealed again and wriggled out from beneath Satire’s girth. Shae shook herself, returning her ruffled fur to its place and ridding herself of the bed feelings that lingered after losing a fight. She was disappointed in herself, and that she had double chores, but she was also proud of her sister. ”You’re too good.” Shae grumped playfully.
Satire could see the moment Shae realized the mistake she had made, and the realization that Satire was going to be curled up nice and warm while her sister did her chores. She chuckled softly as she rolled off of her when she conceded, a victorious look on her features as her tail wagged and she let out a victorious woof. “Ha. Serves you right putting your cold paws on me like that.” She said, still displeased by her sister’s earlier actions. She went over and gave her a soft nuzzle. “We’re both good, just I was better today.” She didn’t think she was better than her sister, not by a long shot, she just happened to get the upper hand this one time.
She didn’t want to be cocky or anything, because that would certainly come back to bite her. “Come on, we can both go warm up before you do our chores.” She offered before starting to move closer to the fire to curl up.
The little loser stuck out a pink tongue as Satire reminded her of the chores she would be doing, but she didn’t argue with sitting by the fire for a little while. ”Don’t remind me.” She told her sister, a groan on her lips. Maybe when she explained to her parents they’d take mercy on her and help. It was a long shot, but she deserved to do them all anyway, at least she’d warm her toes for real first. She was told that one day they would know warmth, but for now Shae was thankful for her thick coat and warm siblings.
Her sister stuck her tongue out and he gave her a playful nudge to the shoulder in turn with a soft snort. While a generally kind person, she was not going to turn down her sister doing her chores in favor of taking pity and helping out... or so she thought. It served her right for putting her cold paws all over her, but Satire wasn't sure she had it in her to put all of that work on her sister. At least their fight had warmed her up a bit, which meant she would cease with her antics because her paws would no longer have the same effect as before. Satire settled down beside the fire with a content sigh as the baking flames sunk into her fur.
Why would anyone want to leave the den for the cold when they could be having this instead was beyond her. A nap seemed in order, but a nap with a warm body next to her seemed better so she sighed. "I'll still do my chores..." She trailed off.
