Nephilim Island

Kuroki and his siblings were practically still fresh from the den but his Otou-sama said it just wouldn't do to waste their time away playing childish games. There was training to be done and as the eldest Kuroki was determined to be the strongest of them all, to learn all the tips and tricks he'd need to give anyone and everyone a good walloping if they needed it. He stomped along the shore, ignoring the akita that lingered by the treeline, no doubt keeping an eye on him in case he decided to try and go for a swim again. Surely one of his siblings had to be around, or maybe someone else who'd want to have a good tussle with him? He honestly wasn't fussy at all, anyone would do, but the thought of beating up someone older than him did put a bit of a spring in his step. No doubt it'd make his Father real proud and would give him plenty of bragging rights, something the pup was warming up to quite quickly.

He stomped to a standstill in the snow and stood with his shoulders straight, tail stiff and eyes narrowed in a very Hattori-like squint. He was ready!

Shuriken was by far the tiniest of her siblings, she was the runt, the last born, but that did not affect her ferocity. She looked forward to training and lessons and wouldn’t allow her tiny stature to hold her back. She had tiny nubs on her head just like the rest of her siblings and she was eager to use them. The tiny child raced after her brother, his long stride difficult to catch up with but she used her tiny pink nose to follow him. Her little koi like whiskers dragged along the snow underneath her, helping to lift the scents below much like a bloodhound's long ears would arouse the scents he searched for.

Eventually her little legs would bring her to the island, right behind her big brother. She strove to be like her siblings, strong Kuroki and his impressive skills but also Ikigai and her naturally elegant ways. However, her paws liked to get tangled up beneath her and as she galloped towards Oki she tripped. The tiny girl nearly flipped, and finally slid to a stop right at Oki’s paws.

And just like that little Ike dropped right at his paws, as though a gift from a kami...or Abraxas himself, he wasn't entirely sure. Either worked just fine for him! He grinned, all wide and toothy, his sabres barely poking out from beneath his lips as he dropped down into a play bow, butt wiggling and tail wagging a mile a minute. She was a lot smaller than him so he really ought to have been more careful with her, treated her nice and gentle like Take did, but nope! Kuroki was all flaming exciting and bubbling energy, a volcano spitting out lava, when he saw a chance to smush his little sister into the snow he just had to take it. Consequences be danged!

Splaying out his front limbs, Kuroki let out a monstrous roar-his squeaky version of one anyway- as he went to belly flop atop of her.

Ike tumbled towards Oki’s feet, a classic stumble from the tiny puppy. She was too naive to realize that her quiet brother was taking it so easy on her, giving her a confidence in her ability that perhaps wasn’t quite warranted. The only fear she had was of tripping over herself and making messes, both were common occurrences and she didn’t often forget her mistakes. Bright dual toned eyes looked up to her brother as he spied her, and her little grin brightened beneath her whiskers.

There wasn’t hardly a moment between their eyes meeting and Oki going on the attack as he let out a war cry Ike squealed and rolled over on her belly, prepared for the body slam. The tiny child giggled and laughed as her brother tried to drive the wind from her chest. She immediately felt the instinct to start kicking out her mismatched back paws, hopefully it was enough to lift him off of her.

Gravity did the hard work as Kuroki flopped down, receiving a sharp paw to his chin in the process. He let out a muffled oof, his teeth clicking but continued on falling, overshadowing little Ike as he settled atop her, legs splayed and full tummy smushing her down into the snow. He let out a bark of victory, more than ready to gloat but he sensed it wasn't over yet. She was down but certainly not out and if he wanted to win this little spar he'd need to do something else to seal his victory. His big puppy grin still in place he tried to lean around and give whatever spoldgy parts of form that were visible a playful nip, goading her to try and shake him off. If she could.

Kiyohime struggled underneath her much bigger brother but she did feel her white back paw connect with his chin. He was lucky her talons hadn’t developed too much sharpness to them yet. He kept weighing down on her, and when she didn’t think he could sink any lower his massive weight was fully deposited on her tiny form. Shuriken would have squealed but she didn’t have any air left in her lungs. Again she squirmed beneath him, and despite his nips she still aimed to scramble out and into the snow drift while she kicked at him furiously. Then she had an idea. Instead of just trying to get free she returned her attention to him and aimed to ram her little head nubs against his rump.

His sister's legs thudded against his side, the beginning of her talons caught against the loose skin of his hip and he let out a yelp. More of surprise than actual outright pain. But that was enough to get him to scoot off of her, giving Ike the freedom she'd fought so valiantly for.  But Kuroki wasn't a sore loser, his grin still remained as he dropped to a play bow, butt raised and tail tagging. There was nothing serious about this moment or their little puppy squabbles, they were still just kids who didn't really know the gravity of the world, all was soft and good and glowing in his eyes. His family the centre of the universe with Ashen and the others orbiting around it.

"Next time." He warned, all mock serious with brows knotted as he pulled his best Papa impression. And then he puffed up all tall, shoulders set and gaze sharp only to break out into a giggle snort. He loved his Father dearly, more than he could say but that just wasn't him. Oki could and would try to emulate him but they were worlds apart, even now.

Kiyohime didn’t give up even as Kuroki squished her and she thought herself a goner. With her last ditch effort a butt to his butt Oki finally relinquished. Shuriken took in a deep breath before righting herself proudly, surprised she’d managed to fight her big brother off. The victory put a tiny grin on her face as she absently brushed the extra snow from her chimeric pelt. Her dual toned gaze looked up bashfully to meet Oki’s dark and now serious gaze. She very nearly giggled at the impression of their father, but she kept herself at a polite level. Instead the girl cracked a grin and returned her sibling’s bow.

”You will never best me, brother!” She tried her best to sound like one of the heroes of the stories they heard at night. Not that she really truly believed her words. Oki was so much bigger than she was, she knew it was a fluke she had won this time.

"Bah!" He yelled, as though to dismiss her words.

In reality he didn't really mind and seeing little Ike light up like that, all bright and proud made him feel as though he'd done some good today. Helped her see some of the true value within herself, beyond all the trips and falls there was a true koi wolf right there! Just as regal and cool as their mum no doubt! It was a lot to live up to though and he understood that, even now as wee babies the shadows their parents cast were long and dark. But they'd get there one day, together! And not only would they be able to kick anyone's butts if they so chose, but in doing so they'd bring honour to their family name and help make Ashen even bigger and better. That was Kuroki's dream and it shone like starlight in his dark eyes.

"How about tag?" He asked and before she even had a moment to make up her mind he reached out and booped her nose with a paw. With how clumsy she was it would be easy to outrun her, right?
