Tell me it's real

Today was the day. She'd known it since she'd first awoken, not long after dawn. The pain was indistinguishable from anything she'd ever felt before except the first time she'd given birth, and with the growing discomfort came a sharp rise in her anxiety levels. Already she'd vowed to do anything to protect these children, even making Song promise out loud he'd do the same. She'd never let harm come to them. Perhaps Song's children was unwise - he was much larger than her physically and there was a chance she'd birth children just as large, something that could be quite dangerous to her - but she knew it was impossible to tell how things would go until the day arrived.
And she had no doubt it was here. Kirsi stirred slowly from within her den, searching for Song. She had little time to fully rouse from her midday nap before she felt the contractions begin. Instantly she lifted her head skyward and let out a call for Song. Though she wanted to do this alone, with only him to guide her, she knew that might not be the case - but she was willing to wait and see if she truly needed a healer to assist her or not.

Song didn’t let himself get too far away from Kirsi and the den these days. She was due to give birth any day and leaving in the morning was a difficult task. Responsibilities needed seen to though, and with taking on a bit of Kirsi’s duties so she wouldn’t have to worry so much, Song had a lot to do. He dropped everything when he was called home though. Had he said he wasn’t anxious Song would have been lying, but he did his best to remain calm for Kirsi. She was capable and strong, but they’d made this decision together and he wanted to be there beside her, supporting her every step they took.
He had no doubt this was the call he felt like he had been waiting on for so long. He promised to give his life for their children, and he had far from changed his mind from that decision. A deep protective feeling rose in him as he approached the den, and carefully made his way inside. He aimed to offer her a nuzzle of greeting, noting he had been the only one she had called for. He couldn’t help the smile on his face and the excitement he felt. He knew Kirsi was in for an ordeal, but he was here to support her however he could. ”How are you doing?” He asked quietly, hoping the energy remained so calm throughout. If he could sacrifice his own comfort for her he would have.

Truthfully Kirsi had been looking forward to this moment as much as she'd been dreading it. Childbirth was an experience that had been traumatizing for her, especially after the death of her children; she knew births often got harder with age too, not easier. Especially with no longer being at the peak age for child-baring. That thought alone had made her even more certain of her decision to have children with Song despite the risks. Things would only get harder for them with each season that passed. That was how they'd ended up here, the contractions coming on hard and fast as she braced herself for Song to arrive.
"I've been better," she admitted through gritted teeth. His presence and the smile he wore, as well as his touch, were a great comfort to her even if she couldn't mirror the calm he exuded. "But. Also worse." Kirsi reminded herself of that. Physical pain was something she could endure and push through, she was certain of it. With Song by her side she felt even more sure of that, even as another swell of pain threatened to take the breath out of her. "I think you should call for a healer," she suggested lightly after a moment. Her pride often got in the way of her reaching out to others - well, almost always did - but this was a situation she wouldn't dare risk.

She was incredibly tense and Song couldn’t fault her. They were reaching the years past their prime age, but the man had full confidence in Kirsi’s strength and perseverance. He wouldn’t allow his nerves to show through. This was about Kirsi and their pups, and he wanted to do everything he could to see them through the trial healthy and happy at the end. Already her pain was evident as she answered him, though her answer trailed off where he hadn’t expected. H knew her mind would drift to her first experience with birth, and he willed this to be completely different. He devoted his life to the children that they would welcome now but he would do anything for Kirsi.
When she asked him to call for a healer he gave a quick nod and returned to the entrance, he wasn’t sure who would come but he asked for assistance anyway. Song wasn’t feeling the most trusting, but even he could acknowledge the necessity. After his voice quieted he made no hesitation in taking a more permanent place beside the dainty ocean marked woman. He’d position himself behind her in support. Nearly shoulder to shoulder. ”The healer is coming,” he told her softly as he nuzzled her cheek affectionately.

Yurei being the only healer of the pack means she often had a lot of work over her shoulders, being the only one to gather herbs, treat the sick between more situations. This often put up a lot of stress on her as she didn't want to fail the pack, especially her Casso who as of now was the only one she could say she felt happy being around with, in love, and safe. But she knew not everyone in the pack shared Ignis' evil intentions by keeping them here against their will. And she would provide them with the best medical care she could. As she was doing her chores a call reached her ears from nearby. She put her backpack on with Aki quickly getting over her back as they rushed to Kirsi's den. Shyly she poked her head in."Perdon me, I am a healer my name is Yurei. I am here to assist you.." Silently she entered and if they allowed her she sat down but giving them space. She will be here to supervise and make sure the pups were alright. "Talk" |

Though she was sure she could conquer this, she was still afraid. Afraid of what whether her birth would be successful or not. She worried for herself, but even more for her children. Births could be as traumatic for the children as it could be for the mother; and though she feared what might happen to them if she didn't survive she had made Song vow he'd protect them with every fiber of his being and she believed he'd do just that. Trust didn't come easily to her but she had to believe in him and their future.
Kirsi took slow, steady breaths as Song called for someone and she waited. The contractions were only growing stronger and she felt her body tensing, though she willed it to relax as best as she could. She only nodded in acknowledgement to him, deciding speaking would be too strenuous. Instead of talking she had to focus on her pain and pushing through it. Thankfully it wasn't long before someone arrived. Kirsi cast her a glance, recognizing her even if her brain couldn't focus on anything for longer than a moment. In a different moment she would've been more grateful, but she could only clench her jaw as another contraction shook her. It was hard to shake the sudden surge of protectiveness that washed over her; she had no doubt she'd be practically feral if anyone tried to touch her newborn children but she had to remind herself that Yurei was here to help her, nothing else.
She wasn't sure how long she lay there, pushing tightly against Song for comfort as the pain grew worse and worse. Seconds dragged into minutes - and then she was sure hours began to pass before the pain grew too strong to bear. At least, she feared it would be if something didn't happen soon. Her head was fogged with pain and worry and fear and a million other things all at once and then suddenly, relief - a small child, a girl, writhing against her. She fought back a snarl of pain as she braced herself for the next child, nearly blinded with pain. She hoped Yurei would see to the first child and closed her eyes, knowing she might not be able to handle the sight of another handling her child.

Song could feel Kirsi’s tension, but he did his best to remain calm, to be a beacon as she struggled through the trials only she could complete. So much so she had called for a healer to assist. He knew she would persevere, he’d seen her strength many times over, this would be no different than the obstacles they conquered together. Song’s full focus was on Kirsi, but he managed to offer a smile and word of thanks to Yurei as she announced herself She seemed sweet and eager to help. She showed a great amount of respect for the rather private parents and Song felt grateful to her for that.
”Thank you,” he told her quietly as he returned his lips to Kirsi’s ear, knowing he could do little to help assuage the pain she embraced now. She pushed against him, struggling, continually struggling, in an effort to birth their children. Song acted as her brace and after an eternity the first pup would enter the world. There was little time to think as the next round of contractions began. Kirsi’s bright eyes closed as she suffered through the next round. Song tried to focus on her, but he continued to glance at the tiny pup just born.

Yurei felt nervous as this was her first birth, never attending one until now. But she didn't feel like she couldn't do anything, she she studied though and thus she wasn't ignorant on what a birth meant and it's risks should no one have the right care. She wanted to learn from this one as soon she may be on the same boat but it course it would be Casso's decision.
Focusing on the birth she kept the same distance and doing her best to be as respectful as possible. She didn't want to make it uncomfortable for the labouring mother and her mate. There the first pup was born and slowly she have it a glance. They seemed healthy as far as she could see from her sitting place. "It's healthy girl..." She spoke with an unknown security on her voice. She did to help get energy remain calm. And give positive vibes. After that she kept silent , removing her eyes from the mother to give her once again space to do her job without disconfort from an stranger staring at them unless addressed.

A girl. She heard Yurei's words and felt a wave of relief wash over her, accompanied by another sharp surge of pain. A healthy girl - she couldn't ask for anything less. If she seemed immediately well, she must be. Kirsi couldn't dwell on it for long before the pain intensified again, so strong this time she was sure she might just black out; but she persevered for the sake of her children and bringing them into the world. The next one was large, she could tell that much by how rapidly her pain amped up. Everything was a painful blur from that moment on - she felt like she was slipping in and out of consciousness. There was a boy next, then another, and two more girls. The pain eventually ceased and she felt herself nearly collapse against Song, too tired to move. She felt her babies wriggling against her, proof that they were alive and well - Song and Yurei could take care of the rest, for she had no strength left in her. Already she felt sleep threatening to take hold of her and she was incapable of fighting it.
