Ice As Far As The Eye Can See
King!
Lúta had packed her things for the long journey north. With a cloak of deer hide upon her shoulders and her travois strapped to her body she took off to do some exploring. There were many questions with the cold autumn of Auster and spring of Boreas. Was the northern continent as bad off as the southern one or were they about equal? Where did those beasts come from and how common were they in the north? Lúta found herself thinking this would've been a good task for Shilah but he had gone, back to the nomad group he was born in. She had to admit her heart ached a bit still. The further north she travelled the colder it got. She worked her way as far north as she could get til she came to a strange ice bridge jutting out into the ocean.
Mæva journeyed north for no reason other than curiosity. She had nothing better to do and after seeing some of the massive and bizarre creatures that had appeared of late she'd started doing some investigation. She heard tell of a strange bridge of ice in the far north and of course she had to go see if she could find this bridge for herself. Sure, there was a chance it was a waste of time but she had a full belly, a small bag of provisions, and not enough sense to stop her from following the rumor. She'd spent the past few days in the far north, dodging polar bears and dire wolves before she finally found the ice bridge. Sh arrived in time to see another wolf there.
At first the slave was cautious. These days he didn't know who were masters and who were not. His speech hadn't improved from the season of isolating himself and hunting alone. Still his natural instinct to please always had a funny way of kicking in. Wagging his tail and sticking close to the cold ground he approached Luta with a whine. Happily rolling over to show his belly as he grinned ears pinned back in a display of submissive nature. Seven did think he probably went a little overboard but normally Borias was happy when he saw him do this. He was sure Deathbelle would've been happy too, if she had kept him.
Well, the ice bridge would certainly explain the arrival of new creatures. It also meant that it was somewhat unlikely they could be encouraged to go back unless the weather started to warm in Boreas and push them more northward. She could only hope they'd move back across before the ice melted, otherwise Boreas would be stuck with all these strange, and dangerous new creatures. Lúta turned as she heard someone approach to see a young woman as well as a young man who immediately displayed strong submissive behavior.
She cocked her head slightly at the man, wondering if she'd come across in such a dominant way that he'd felt the need to approach her in such a manner. She was quite large, but certainly not the largest creature. "Greetings, to the both of you. I take it you heard about the ice bridge as well?"
Mæva was about to speak when they were joined by a man who approached with his tail wagging before rolling onto his belly. She giggled, mistaking the submissive posture for playfulness. She crouched down with her front legs splayed, her own tail wagging. "Hi there!" She turned as the older woman spoke and nodded. "Yea, it sounded so crazy I decided to make the journey to see if it was true." She stood back up on all fours and trotted over to the bridge, testing it a bit before wandering out onto it. Her nose wrinkled. "Sprits above! It is nasty cold on here though. Not sure I would want to go all the way out." The ice was especially frigid on her paw pads and she found herself wishing she'd wrapped them in hide before venturing up this far.
Seven looked to Maeva then, her comment about the cold made him shiver. Fluffing up his russet fur as the small male's tail stood completely erect. Staring onward... he wondered what lay on the other side. "Land. Unknown." his soft scratchy voice hit the air. Across here was land creatures had come from. It meant that there was vegitation and prey that they had never seen before beyond this JUST like with Auster where he had been born and raised. Seven looked to his two new companions before sniffing along the edge of the bridge curiously.
Lúta cocked her head to the side at the mans curious mannerisms and way of speaking but she opted not to press. She followed him near the edge of the bridge, testing it for a moment before she started to walk across. Her tail waved as she moved, assisting her in keeping her balance. The ice was freezing on her paws and the wind picked up, violently whipping around her. The farther she went the colder and windier it got. Finally she had enough and turned around. "I've gone as far as I want to. Its too cold and windy here!" Lúta raised her voice to speak over the wind and quickly worked her way back to the edge. She could tolerate some cold but that was just ridiculous. Her fur fluffed up and she started heading south back toward Auster.
Mæva nodded to the man as he spoke in broken speech. "Yea, probably a cold land. Oof, and windy!" She'd walked out farther on the bridge as the wind picked up. It was hitting them from the side and she dug her toenails into the ice for a bit of extra grip. At one point the colorful woman stated that she was turning back and Mæva couldn't blame her. The girl pushed forward a bit more to the point she found herself having to squint to see. "Ew, I don't like it here. I changed my mind." She also turned back and started back across the bridge. Whatever this bridge led to couldn't be that great otherwise all those weird animals wouldn't have left.
