Slowly expanding her reach out away from the Armada, she started working her way a bit further south. For the most part she had kept to what she had come to learn was a continent called Boreas, but she heard that there was another one further south called Auster that she hadn't set foot in yet. She didn't want to leave the Armada for too long at one time, but a quick day trip certainly wouldn't hurt anything. She didn't even make it to Auster though before she ran into some thick brambles and thorns that seemed to cover this section of forest she was passing through. It slowed her down enough to notice the scent of what she thought might be some wild dogs that had passed though the area very recently and that got her attention up off the ground, her ears perked and listening for any sounds around her. Suddenly there was some sounds of growls and a scuffle somewhere near by and she started hurrying toward the sounds, working her way around clumps of thorns that pulled at her coat as she went.

Eska had been tracking the injured deer for miles. Its trail of fresh blood led her to a wide expanse of thorny briars. The ungulate had somehow pulled itself through into a clearing within the walls of thorns. From where the woman stood, she could see the creature laying on its side, its breathing labored. When she tried to push through, the thorns latched into her thick fur and her progress was stalled. It was terribly frustrating. She wasn't the only one that followed the trail. A large pack of dogs had picked up the scent as well. The brindled fae noted their approach as the curs growled and whined. This was most definitely going to be her kill, and so she had no choice but to run them off. Eska's hackled raised and she moved stiff legged towards the pack. Teeth flashed and she launched herself at the lead dog, their chests colliding with a dull thud. Teeth snapped at one another as each canine worked to push the other one off of their paws. "Eska"

Acantha pushed her way through the thick brush and thorns as she got closer to the sounds of fighting and finally she found the clearing where the sound originated from. There was the pack of wild dogs she had scented earlier along with a woman that was a bit shorter than herself and darker with silver bridling. All of them struggled over the deer that laid off to the side and she was very quickly able to put together the pieces of the scene. She didn't know this stranger obviously, but she wasn't going to just stand to the side and let her struggle with this dogs on her own.
Acantha rushed up from behind the dog she was shoving and snapping at and dug her teeth into its hind leg hard, giving a few good shakes of her head to do a bit of damage before one of its pack mates tried to leap at her and started shoving her off of their leader. She growled and snapped at the other dog, shoving her shoulder hard into its side to get it off of her. But just as soon as she did another was on top of her, trying to bite at her legs. Acantha snarled and bristled, grabbing one of them by she scruff and throwing them to the ground, making the dog make a satisfying yelp.

As the two canids had their shoving match, another rushed in and she appeared to be on Eska's side. Soon the dog was pulled backwards and she was free once more. Dogs began to rush in from all sides and Eska placed her back to the larger fae. She squared off against another large dog, snarl rippling from her maw to ward them off. Dogs were stupid beasts, however. The big brute rushed her trying to sink its teeth into her throat but Eska backpedaled. Its teeth grazed her muzzle, but nothing more. Once it had expended the momentum from its attack, Eska surged forward, repaying the brute in kind. Her teeth sank into its face and she instantly whipped her head to the side, teeth pulling through flesh. The brute yelped and pulled its face from her grasp before tucking its tail and running. More moved into its place. "Eska"

Acantha caught another dog by the neck as it jumped at her, ripping away a chunk of flesh and sending it running with a couple of others that had finally wised up enough to run, but the rest of the pack was seemingly determined to not back down and get their grubby paws on this deer. In fact, while she was busy with two dogs that were trying to tag team her, she spotted a couple of them trying to drag the deer away while they were distracted. "Hey!" she called, immediately trying to shove one of the ones attacking her out of the way so she could run forward and stop the would be thieves, but the endless wave of this pack of dogs was unrelenting. She was pretty sure even one of the ones she had sent running came back when they seemed to pick up on the fact that they had made some headway in the fight. She stumbled back and eventually lost track of which dog she was attacking since so many were trying to pile on her at once. "I think we're gonna have to give it up!" she called to the other woman after she bit into the top of a dog's neck and shoved it to the ground, her paw pinning its throat as she shoved another one off of her shoulder.

Teeth grabbed her leg and Eska spun, jaws wide and ready to snap down on a smaller dog that had weaseled its way in undetected. The dog instantly released her and went skittering into the brambles. It ended up in the clearing where her kill had laid down and died. The woman's words met her ears and Eska growled, fur bristling. She hadn't wanted to give up the deer, but it seemed that they wouldn't have a choice. The small dog was already dragging the dead deer out another hole in the briars. With a snarl, the brindled woman turned and ran from the clearing. Unfortunately, they weren't going to win this fight. "Eska"
