The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 1

Things had felt a bit awkward for her since the band left and began their travels, but being free of her mother again had been a relief. Adhira had told her that she would be looking for others in these lands, to see if any of her followers had found their way back to her. The thought of other Amanta being here made her nervous, and she tried to soothe herself with the thought that it was unlikely with all the places in the world they could have ended up. Still, Adhira had found her way here and it was very possible there could be others, and if they didn’t come to her on their own, she wouldn’t be surprised if her mother went out to hunt them down and bring them here herself.

She tried to push those thoughts from her head, instead focusing on trying to find something to do. Some way to make herself useful. Maybe she could find some herbs to try and study, and hopefully she could find some time with Indigo to have him teach her a few things. She was so focused, she didn’t immediately recognize that painfully familiar scent, but once she did, she froze. Her throat tightened, her stomach flipping in her abdomen. The anxiety she felt around the other members of the band seemed like nothing and she wanted nothing more than to run and find one of them. It didn’t matter who, as long as it would keep her away.

She couldn’t move, though. Her limbs seemed to be made of stone, her gaze sweeping the area around her frantically as she waited for that dark purple form to materialize from the shadows. Violette. She had always been volatile and Cosette wasn’t sure that age would have mellowed her out. And beyond that, if Vio was here, that meant the Amanta were in fact finding their way to her safe haven. A quiet whimper slipped from her lips, her tail tucking close to her body as she finally broke free from her panic enough to turn and attempt to make her way back to safety.

Violette had been taking time to recover with Sorine. Slowly building themselves back up to good health once more. It was no good if they were weak and dehydrated. Especially if they wanted to survive. How could they be Amanta if they couldn’t continue on by themselves? No, they persevered and they were both too stubborn to give up now. If anything, this place was just a new opportunity to spread their power across the world. Just that thought alone was enough to paint a wicked smile on her slender face.

She stalked forth with purpose, scanning her surroundings and taking in the scenery. She took note of everything around her, the smells and the sights. That was when she caught something familiar… It was different in a way but there was still a scent that she could pick up that reminded her of family. It was strange and it definitely caught her interest. She picked up the pace and trotted after the scent trail. Finally seeing a figure growing in size. Then she finally saw who it was. Her seafoam gaze narrowed, and just as she began to get closer to begin speaking, her sister tried to run.

“COSETTE!” Her voice cracked like thunder, surprisingly holding power despite her young age. It was demanding and harsh, possibly just enough to make the other girl stop in her tracks. If she dared disobey, Violette wasn’t afraid to get physical to catch her. She waited to see what her sibling would do, her hackles began to raise just at the sight of her sister.
Violette is rude, mean, and sometimes violent. Thread with caution.

The sound of her sisters voice sent a shockwave through her body. In the moment she wasn’t sure what to do. Should she make a mad dash for the camp and risk Violette catching up to her? Or should she stay and risk her obedience still not being enough to tame the Amanda’s temper? There was no good choice. No matter what she did, there was no guarantee she would come out of this intact. By her calculations, her best bet was to run, and hope she ran into a friendly face before her sister could catch her.

What she hadn’t accounted for was the stumble in her steps as she struggled with her decision. She had hesitated too long,  or fully stopping but slowing enough that when she did try to take off at a faster speed, she stumbled. It would surely be enough for Violette to catch up, especially with her much longer legs, but the tiny woman couldn’t bring herself to stop. Her sister would know she’d tried to run and it would be worse for her because of it. She had to get away.

Desperation courses through her, raw and tangible. It left a bitter tang in her mouth, her heart racing. She couldn’t run fast enough and she knew that now. Tears already stung her eyes as she thought of how ignorant she’d been to think she was free of her family. They would always be there, she would never truly be free until she was dead.
