Come down, come down sweet reverence
Well, she had really done it this time. Jynn had wanted to head back east and in doing so decided to take a different route. It'd be fun right? Her ears flattened back as she squinted into the wind. She found herself in a barren land of ruddy dune and rust-colored earth that seemed to darken to a deep sienna as she looked out across the horizon. Black brambles stuck out of the earth here and there, the skeletons of what she assume was deceased plant life. Up ahead she could see a dust storm forming, the tawny sand getting kicked up into the air.
Behind that was a hazy blue sky with pale, slate blue clouds moving in at the lower and upper levels. Any rain they could give would be a blessing but for now she would have to contend with the dust. Yuck, why had she ever decided to come this way?

This wasn't the first time that Ada's nose had led her into a bad situation and she could almost say with a definite certainty that it wouldn't be the last. Something had smelled delicious and she'd let her nose lead her paws. Now here she was, almost face to face with a sand storm. In the end, she hadn't even found the delicious item that she'd been tracking. After a while, all she could smell was dirt. Gross. Turning away from the lifting sands, Ada kept her ears tucked so that she wouldn't take half of the sand home with her. The young fae's pumpkin colored eyes were closed to mere slits, her long lashes protecting her eyes from the wind whipped debris. As her course led her away from the sand storm, she noted another canid making a similar retreat. "Oi!" she called out before approaching the leggy creature. "Do ye know how te get outta this place?" She asked, her Irish accent a little thick from the somewhat stressful situation. "I've gotten meself a little lost. Walkin' in circles." The bobtailed lady looked hopefully at the leggier lass. "Ada"

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn squinted at the sky, trying to get a beacon on her position. As far as she could tell she was still going in the right direction but if the dust storm ran into her path she'd be totally lost. Her ears perked up at someone's voice. She looked back and saw a small woman with a most unusual accent."I have a general idea. I'm headed east, this way!" She jerked her head toward the east where she was planning to head. "Name's Jynn, where are you headed?"
She had turned to look at the stranger while she was walking and didn't mark her next step carefully enough. Jynn's paw plummeted down into the sand as if there had been no ground there at all. Her abdominal muscles tightened, tail flailing as she just managed to pull herself back and down onto her ass. "Hell was that!"

On top of letting her nose lead her way through life, Ada had no sense of direction. She easily got lost and today was no exception. It was a good thing that the other woman, Jynn, seemed to have some idea of where she was going. "Ada," she gave her own name in return. "Out. Just out!" The small dame laughed aloud and got a mouthful of sand in payment for it. The monochromatic fae easily fell into step beside Jynn, happy to let the lady lead them both to safety. Ada wondered if she'd ever get all of the sand out of her coat after this. As they moved, Jynn was a few pawsteps ahead. Ada noticed as the russet fae's foreleg disappeared into the sand. Ada's orange eyes widened and she gasped lightly, ready to pull Jynn back if the earth began to eat her whole body. Thankfully the woman sat down hard. Her exclamation had Ada creeping forward hesitantly. Extending one paw, she prodded at the ground where Jynn had been stepping. The sand there gave way, consuming her paw. "It's like a puddle of sand." Ada wasn't the brightest star in the sky, but she had a sense of self preservation that had kept her alive through life so far. "We'll have to be eeextra careful. Do ye think we can outrun the sandstorm still?" She gave her head a slight tilt, willing to do or try whatever Jynn suggested. "Ada"

Come down, come down sweet reverence
The woman, Ada, swiftly stated that she just wanted to get out and Jynn couldn't blame her. She'd seen a fair number of territories in Boreas and this was a truly miserable one. She watched as Ada pawed the sand ahead. It seemed to dissolve down into the earth. Jynn shuddered. She was afraid to imagine what it would be like to be buried alive in sand.
"It's like a puddle of sand."
"Boy, this place keeps getting better and better." Jynn glanced back at the sand storm then back to Ada. "I sure hope so! This is not a place I care to shelter." She leaned her long neck over toward a nearby shrub where she broke off a longer branch. Carefully, adjusting it in her mouth she poked at the earth ahead of her til she hit more solid ground. It took a bit but soon she got a feel for what she was doing and pressed the stick into the earth as she pushed forward, stopping when the stick suddenly lurched down and then trying another path.
