Naiche had his share of bad days and this was certainly becoming one of them.  He had family die on him at two different points and less than a year ago someone he was fond of had met a tragic fate as well.  Asla had once nearly died on him and that memory two was scarred into his memory.  No death here but now he was trapped between mixed loyalties he should have never let happen.  Naiche had sworn to Sirius of always serving and doing what was best for the pack and warlord.  Naiche hadn’t imagined having a child at the time he had given those words nor imagined the love he would have for his own child.

Naiche should have never created a child, that was where the mistake had been made.  Knowing where he screwed up didn’t stop the fact it was what he had done.  Who would have imagined Asla would leave the pack though?  She had to choose now of all times, with his young child to leave.

Tightning his jaw for a moment he let out a howl to call for the warlord, requesting Sirius presence near Naiche’s den close to the lake.  when he could come.  Would Sirius already have a good idea what the call was for?  Would Sirius accept what Naiche wanted?  If Sirius refused him then what?  What was Naiche’s word worth to him?  What his son worth to him?  Naiche had decided his lifes priorities early on in life and everything had been so easy and clear and it had worked until now.  Damn it.  Stupid.

Naiche imagined his sons smiling face and his stomach curled up inside of him.  Could he regret that?  No.  Naiche loved the boy.  In so many ways the child seemed something perfect and wonderful.  If Naiche broke his word did he deserve his son?   If he stayed in the pack and just let them leave did he deserve his son?  Better to be surrounded by angry bears or lions than face this situation.

Naiche waited wanting nothing more than to get this over with.  Would Sirius make things easier or harder on Naiche?  If the warlord was agreeable with Naiche going to protect his daughter and grandchildren for a time it might work out fine.  What if he Sirius decided he didn’t care what happened to his daughter when she left?  There would be no peace in Naiche’s mind until this was done.
