With the passing of her father, she’d been working herself ragged. It didn’t help that her season had struck like lightning, adding fuel to the inability to remain standing in one place for very long unless the work was concentrated. But she still had duties, and part of those were checking in on the younger generations. So, she padded to the meeting boulder and sat at its base, tipping her muzzle to the sky and calling for Justice’s trio. She wasn’t certain Arne would show—his scent was stale lately. She could only hope he was with his father. It was high time they were asked what they wanted in life, whether it was to stay or find their own trails. Aurielle was calling for her and her siblings? Kaija was really curious as to why, and she wasn't sure she could begin to guess. She knew she wasn't participating in pack things as much as she ought to be. A lot of the time she preferred to do her own thing and lately her attention had taken her on a bunch of little adventures outside the pack lands, but surely she wasn't in trouble? She knew she was a yearling now and should probably have more responsibility, but truthfully responsibility wasn't really her thing persay... but she wasn't totally oblivious to things, so she somewhat begrudgingly headed toward the source of the call. She moved at a decent pace, trailing across the plains and eventually coming to stand near Aurielle and giving her a grin. She wondered if her siblings would show up, and how soon - she cast a sweeping glance around her, as if expecting them to be right behind her.

In a reasonable amount of time, Kaija arrived, and Aurielle smiled to the girl in reassurance—neither she nor her siblings were in trouble. She didn’t speak until several waxing minutes went by, and she scanned the plains. She was mildly surprised that at least Fidelias hadn’t come, but perhaps he had gone on a rare excursion beyond the border, and beyond earshot. Perhaps the next thing was to speak to the other two privately. Her eyes turned – practically lifted, now, with how large Kaija had grown – to the girl before her, studying her, looking into her eyes that echoed Justice’s—right down to that bit of come-at-me-world mischief – as though seeking to look into the girl’s very soul. “Thank you for coming, Kaija. I wanted to ask you, and your siblings, but it seems I may have to catch them at another time, what you plan on doing, now that you’re yearlings.” Her eyes twinkled faintly as she sat back, watching the girl, ears perked with interest as she waited to see what Kaija might do or say. Wanderlust had hit the boy early on. Sure sometimes he would wander home, but there was so much to see, so many mud puddles to roll in, and he always had Arvid by his side. It wasn’t like he was ever lonely…

He just so happened to be close enough to catch Aurielle’s call for once, and he shoulder shoved his companion in a silent challenge to race. Once the warhog would have outpaced him but Arne had since grown into his legs and needed to shorten his stride not to lose his porcine pal completely. The leader was already speaking to his sister and while often he would try to be mindful of his messiness, it had been a while since he had seen Kaija, and so he barrelled into the gathering, fur and mud flying as he attempted to tackle his sister. With his lack of stealth or tact, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she dodged the tackle entirely and he landed face first in the dirt (typical for him really), but his mud-caked tail would continue to wave regardless.

Any worries that she might be in trouble faded once Aurielle began speaking. She wanted to know what she planned to do now that she was a yearling. She wasn't quite sure what to say at first - her jaw unhinged slightly as she searched for the words, but before she could speak she heard someone's approach out of her field of vision. Arne barreled toward her and she made an effort to dodge his tackle, but the attempt was feeble at best and she swayed on her paws before losing her balance entirely and crashing to the ground. Though she let out a loud chortle of laughter, she made an effort to pull herself to her paws - after giving her brother a quick nuzzle - and returned her attention to Aurielle.

"Um. I think I want to go see the world, and explore. If my mom doesn't mind," Kaija admitted. She'd been going back and forth on her decision for awhile but suddenly the words spilled out and apparently her mind was made up. She knew her mom would have no issue with it either, so she wasn't sure why she said the last bit… maybe so she could have a way out of her plan if she wanted it? Leaving sounded scary but so did staying and not seeing the whole world and meeting everyone in it. She cast a glance at Arne, wondering if he felt the same way and if he'd tell Aurielle what he wanted to do too.

It seemed Kaija would go the path Aurielle had guessed she might, but before the tall girl could speak, Aurielle’s gaze shifted as a barreling form approached, leaping at his sister with a pounce that sent the two sprawling. The Spirit grinned at the interaction, not bothering to give the boy a prod about his long absence. After all, the question would be posed to the boy, too. Kaija did give her answer and Aurielle nodded, smiling. “I had a feeling you might. You’re welcome to come back for visits, or if you need a place to rest where you’re safe. As long as you’re happy. But, one thing must remain clear; Valhalla’s information remains within these lands. Numbers, names, health, resources. I’m sure your mother has made such things clear already, but a refresher never hurts.” Her head tilted as she studied the two, before she turned her eyes to Arne, posing the question once more, “And Arne, what do you wish to do? If you wish to leave Valhalla to see the world, follow your own dreams, as you’ve seen, I won’t hold you from it. If you wish to stay, what Circles do you feel you’d do best in and enjoy?” Her words were gently voiced, as genuinely curious as ever, and her eyes direct, ears perked as she fell silent, waiting to see what his response or choice would be. The boy laughed happily when his sister endured his chaos, waving a paw at her from the ground as she righted herself to give her attention back to the leader. Arne was puzzled when Kaija mentioned mum minding if they went exploring and his forehead wrinkled and his head tilted, she hadn’t seemed to mind before… What would be different about this time?

His tongue ran along the roof of his mouth, between where the two little tusks protruded from his mouth. When Aurielle’s attention turned to him, he bought himself back to his feet, considering the seeming weight of the interaction. The boy had never really been responsible, or serious, so he was a little confused about why he had been summoned. Back for visits…?

"Oh." It finally dawned on him and he smiled so wide his eyes squinted, muddy tail flagging at his rear again.

"I’ll go ‘splorin’ too!" He declared with some certainty. After all, he could always come back and visit too.

Instantly she felt nervous about her decision. Sure, Aurielle wasn't her mom but she could still say no and keep her here, right? She looked almost pleading as she gazed at her with wide eyes, hoping she said yes - and then she did! She couldn't stop herself from beaming as she leaned into Arne, hoping so bad he said yes and wanted to come explore with her, at least some of the time. She didn't expect him to follow her everywhere and he was okay with that, she just wanted to make sure she saw him still. Either way she'd come visit her mom and Fidelias all the time, she was sure of that. "Thank you, thank you," she nearly shouted as she vibrated with excitement, tail smacking the ground behind her hard. She nodded at her words, understanding the seriousness of them.

She beamed all over again when Arne said he wanted to go exploring too. Kaija tried not to make any assumptions. Maybe he had plans of his own like she did - places he wanted to see and things he wanted to do - but she leaned harder into him and gave him a little nuzzle. At least she wasn't the only one leaving. "Where will you go first, Arne?" She asked him with a giggle. Next she'd make sure her mother understood she was leaving but she had a feeling it wouldn't be a surprise, nor would she be opposed; her mom had always been cool like that.

The boy had paused to scratch an itch in the thicker fur around his neck, quickly losing interest in the gathering. They’d said what they needed to right? For all he was grateful for what the pack had provided he’d never really ingrained himself within it. Kaija’s perky question caught his attention though and he quickly rose to his feet, spinning as though chasing his tail, once, twice, three times. He clamped down on the tip and paused, smiling around the plush fur in his mouth. His front paws stayed planted and his back end twisted around like it was spring loaded. "THAT WAY!" He declared loudly with a face splitting grin. It was as good a direction as any other, surely?

Aurielle took a backseat as she let the two siblings sort out some of their future with eachother, lips twitching in both amusement and mild concern. While Arne had clearly done fine in his wanderings, she half wondered if he’d end up getting himself hurt from sheer obliviousness. In any case, it wasn’t her business if he did so long as he didn’t bring trouble Valhalla’s way. He was grown enough to be on his own. Still, she smirked, before rising to her paws, tail flicking to dislodge a piece of dirt and grass from the long strands before turning to go, grinning at the two as she said, “Take what you wish before you go; armor, a first aid kit, whatever you might need that you can carry easily in a pouch. And don’t you forget to visit. I’d love to hear stories about your adventures sometime.” Padding lightly, she headed off to patrol, thankful for the brief distraction the two had helped provide.
