Kotori had made his way to the sparring ring and wasted no time in howling a challenge to whoever might respond for a spar.  He had been roaming and exploring more recently but it was time to train and improve his skills.  He had a long way to go if he ever wanted to be as good of a fighter as dad.  Traveling had helped him clear his mind of some of the oddities in family changes.  Times were weird.

Kotori moved towards the sea’s edge watching the waves but finding nothing all that exciting brought up. As a pup the water had been a really exciting spot, a favorite place to visit and play but now it was somewhat boring the majority of the time.

Glancing up he headed back to the training ring, sitting down and hoping someone was near to battle.

Gossamer was busy winterizing her den. She'd cleaned it out and had just finished laying out a large bighorn sheep skin on the floor when she heard a call for a challenger coming from the plains. That was Kotori! Gossamer bounded out of her den and raced toward the source of the call. It had been awhile since she'd had a chance to spend time with her brother. He'd been off wandering and she was still getting settled in after her excursion north.

Soon she spotted him and bounded over, tail wagging. "Tori! Long time no see. How are you doing? I'm definitely up for a spar. I've been practicing." She squared off against her brother.

Kotori’s ears pricked forward more on spotting Gossy.  Had he even stopped to say hi to her last time he had come back before leaving?  Maybe? Maybe not… no, probably not.  Well, she seemed ok and he was seeing her now.  No time like the present to catch up in one form or another.  “Hey Goss.  Yah, just got back yesterday.”  Kotori stood up, rolling his shoulders, “I guess you might be better than me now if you’ve been practicing a lot.” Kotori couldn’t admit to it was almost guaranteed with how little he’d practiced while roaming.  The large wolf had gained a larger view of the world and certainly built up some good stamina in exchange for training but despite the gain there was an inner agitation at the idea of his sister possibly winning a fight.  

“Well, lets see.  Who knows,” the horned wolf grinned, “maybe I’m just so talented I’ll still end up the better fighter anyway.” It was just a playful challenge as he shifted his balance, lowered his neck to be even with his body.

Kotori took one small step forward in this position, a moment of warning he was planning to start the spar after that.  They could always chat more after the winner was decided if she wanted.  Kotori wanted to test himself. Kotori decided to be up front, charging straight ahead intending to slam his body into hers and aim for a bite to the neck.

Kotori Fatalis

 

Gossamer puffed up and grinned at her brother. "Well, I have been practicing but honestly it's been mostly healing. I want to hone my focus more into fighting though. I've decided I want to be a Lieutenant some day." She was finally feeling comfortable enough in her goals that she could share them openly with her siblings. She still enjoyed healing and intended to keep practicing it, especially if she could share what she learned with her sisters.

"maybe I’m just so talented I’ll still end up the better fighter anyway"

"Only one way to find out!" She squared off against Kotori, double checking her defenses were set before the match began. Kotori charged straight at her and Gossamer quickly moved to her left and ducked, bringing herself out of the way of his body slam though his teeth still clipped the side of her neck. Wary of the damage her fangs could do Gossamer instead attempted to wrap her front legs around Kotori's right leg. She wanted to try and use the move to trip him and sending him sprawling onto his face.

It had been close! Kotori missed getting a good bite hold on her neck, just feeling instead of how close he had been.  One thing the wolf had not expected was for her to try and wrap her paws around his one leg.  Kotori attempted to just balance on three legs, lifting his trapped leg up hoping to free it.  

If she wanted to find a means of fighting other than biting Kotori could aim for the same.  Even as he worked to maintain his balance he lowered his head so his horns were facing her, trying to shove them into her shoulder hoping to turn the tables and knock her off balance.  One thing was for sure, one of them would stand and the other would fall.  It was a bit different than the normal game of biting attacks but that was what kind of made things fun.  Something new.

Kotori Fatalis

 

Gossamer grinned as her arms wrapped around her brother's legs. Though she hadn't quite succeeded in her full aim for her brother was still standing. Still she'd take what she could get, now that she had a hold she just needed to figure out how to topple him. Just as she prepared to attack, however, Kotori slammed the blunt front of his horns into her shoulder. She yelped in surprise and though she had tried to hang on the blow was to much. Gossamer flopped down onto her back. She swiftly kicked out with her hind legs, trying to slam them into Kotori's right elbow, hoping the strike would knock him off balance long enough for her to get back to her feet.
