Alabastrine Shrine
The Empress wasn’t a wolf that was easily rattled, but her odd experience with the Samurai Lament had her all kinds of off center. The ever present full moon, glowing bugs in late winter, strange creatures mulling about. Nothing felt right to the once goddess. White gloved paws carried her down the path in the moonlight darkness, though it was much brighter at night with the ever full moon.
Sunset gaze caught the unnerving appearance of the blue fog as it began to descend onto the island. Worry filled her heart. She didn’t know what the cause of all these strange occurrences truly was. There were many mysteries the woman was not privy too, but this one was beginning to effect the pack and there needed to be a solution found, or some way to fight against the supernatural.

Plague had already gone home to the den he kept by the hot springs with Void and Rava as the day began to descend into night, but the copious amount of blue and purple hued fireflies dancing around the springs and the odd blueish fog that settled over everything had him on edge. Even the small plants that survived the winter by growing near the warmth of the hot springs had begun to glow a strange blue color. It kept him from resting easy and finally decided to get up and head back toward Ashen so he could check in with Venom. If this strange stuff was happening everywhere he wanted to make sure things were stable in the pack as well.
He walked through the pale trees near the shrine, his legs making the thickening blue fog swirl around his feet. It seemed to hang pretty low to the ground so his vision was still mostly clear with wisps of it drifting higher occasionally. Fireflies seemed to be gathering more and more around the trees and between them and the strangely bright moonlight it was almost hard to tell it was night at all. He spotted his monochromatic sister and moved toward her, giving her a questioning look. "Any idea where all of this is coming from?" he asked, waving a paw at the world around them.

The oddity was so unsettling that she wasn’t surprised to see Plague trotting towards her through the blue mists. The colors of the fog and the shrine mixed to create an unnatural glow beneath the moonlight. Sunset eyes shifted from the strange night and towards the comforting features of her brother. There was an obvious look of confusion and concern over his expression. ”No, that’s the part that is making me nervous.” She returned softly, leaning into Plague’s form. Nothing like this had ever happened before, but it gave her a similar feeling to when she had broken her leg with that strange woman in the swamp…
”There have been many sightings of different strange things. I saw the same with Lament last night, and have you noticed?” She asked, her voice betraying her nerves. ”The moon has been full since mid winter.” How was it possible for something like that to happen? The waxing and waning of the moon was unchangeable, it was a law of nature, or it had been.

He had slightly hoped that Venom would have some kind of idea of what all of this was or what was causing it, but he supposed that she wouldn't look as concerned as she did if that was the case. He nodded in agreement when she mentioned how the unknown was what was making her nervous. The only time he had ever felt this ominous, strange feeling was when he landed himself in that strange, broken down house where he had found the skull he wore on his armor. At least with the house it had felt contained to that one area and if felt like when he left it was put behind him. This was everywhere and anywhere he looked he saw more of this strange glow and fog. When she pointed out the moon he blinked with surprise and looked up at it with his ears flicking back uneasily. "I hadn't noticed, but... you're definitely right." He had thought the moon had been extra bright recently, but it never really clicked in his mind that it had stayed full for so long. "It doesn't seem like any of it is harming anything... at least not yet," he added. "I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on it for now."

As a parent Venom feared far less for herself and far more for her pups, they were very nearly yearlings now but she would always feel the need to put them above all else. Especially her own safety. These supernatural occurrences seemed like nothing she could fix right here tonight. How could she begin to fix the moon’s shape or return the mists to their fold? These were impossible feats.
Plague hadn’t noticed the phase of the moon until now, but he didn’t refute her either. Her brother felt no real danger from mist and light, but that wasn’t what had her quills standing on end and her tongue flicking nervously. It was the energy. There was no real settling down, she always felt like a pair of eyes were on her. Something was coming. ”I’m glad you’re here to be ready with me.” The Empress smiled and bumped his shoulder with affection as much as she searched for reassurance.

It seemed like there would be no resolution for them tonight and the unsettled, anxious energy would continue on until something finally settled or changed. Venom still managed to pull his attention through as she expressed how she was glad he was here with her, giving him a bump with her shoulder. A little smile pulled across his lips as he turned his head to look at her, leaning in to press his nose against her cheek affectionately. "Of course. I always will be." No matter what came or what threats came upon them he would always be at her side to face them. He only wished the threats were something tangible that he could fight with tooth and claw - or perhaps the occasional dagger. This mysterious, supernatural events... That he could only be a brave shoulder to lean on for until something more tangible came. He hoped that day didn't come, he hoped this all faded into a strange memory, but he got the feeling that wouldn't be the case.
