Chimera

It seemed he had a few less restrictions as he was getting older, but maybe he never had them to begin with. Viper was nearly self taught in her own will to survive, and at this point she was pushing Cerberus to get out of their room and explore some. Moccosin was there when she wasn't and he wasn't with Siren, and the island was protected. He had nothing to fear, and he didn't.
While he sat outside the area Viper claimed for herself, the sky started roll in changing colors, he almost felt like he didn't know the difference between the normal skies and the mysterious moon of today. It wasn't quite dark yet, he would be in path of Viper when she came in for the night. His nose followed the blue fireflies as they carefully drifted around him, away and also into the trees like they were swapping places. Like a patrol or something. Maybe it was just his imagination.

First he and Ali had been attacked and now Dalila had been attacked. The world was going crazy. Losing its mind. Chimera would have been within his rights to demand that all of the wolves stay on the island, but it looked as though it was touching the island as well. As the giant man moved through the atrium, he noticed the blue fireflies. They had somehow made it to his island while the other creatures had died at the shore. It made him nervous, mostly for his young children. One of whom he came upon, sitting outside as though waiting for something.
"Cerberus," Chimera spoke as he drew in near. He noted the fireflies nearby, but tried to ignore them as though it would keep the things from noticing him in turn. "Is your mother not back yet?" Gently, a big paw reached out and scooped the boy towards him for comforts sake. A rustling up above drew the man's attention and he looked up. Atop the palm and wood structure sat several island birds. All of their eyes glowed blue.

Cerberus tucked his chin in a tiny bow as Chimera addressed him as he usually did, and didn't pull away from the large man's grasp. "No, she should be back soon." He stated back. But it seemed Chimera was more worried about the birds up in the trees. Sure they didn't really seem normal, but his life had been so short that the strange happenings on their island didn't really phase him and just felt like a normal occurrence to him.
He too looked up to the glowing eyed creatures that seemed almost like they could all work together to scoop him up for dinner, or that's what their piercing gaze suggested. "They are preparing for something." He noted, and it wasn't a question. Cerberus could hear the whispers, though it was hard for him to understand what they were really speaking. All he knew was that something was coming.

Mentally, Chimera berated Viper for not being a good mother. She left the boy alone with the dog more than she was with him. Yes, he went and stayed with Siren often, but with two new puppies, she couldn't exactly head out to track him down. It didn't sit well with the man. The birds seated above were large. No doubt they could do damage to the boy. Just the thought of it made Chimera's pelt bristle.
The boy's words met Chi's ears and he glanced down towards him. Preparing for something? "Hopefully they aren't preparing to die," he replied with a low growl. If the birds so much as touched Cerberus, Chimera would reduce them to a pile of feathered pulp. As though sensing his thoughts, the birds ruffled their feathers and cawed loudly. More and more of the fireflies began to show up, coming in from all directions. Chimera wondered if they sensed the animosity that he held towards them.
"Come," he gave the two-toned boy a gentle nudge. "You're staying with me tonight. If your mother wants you, she'll come find you." Chimera didn't trust Cerberus to stay out here on his own. Not with how aggressive the glowing creatures had been prior. In order to get back to his own wing of the structure, they would have to cross the wide open atrium.

His father's own sense of humor, or maybe that wasn't quite what it was, but what he said was a little funny in a way. Cerberus didn't laugh though, just looked away from the staring birds and stood as Chimera suggested he come along back to his quarters. It was something a little different, but not something he would refuse. Cereberus trusted the pack members really with his life, and he hoped one day he could return the favor. That didn't make him so naive though. If a stranger came to the island he wouldn't have left with them or stood by while they kidnapped or hurt him. He may have been young, but he was already well sophisticated and intelligent for his age. He just had room to learn. "I don't know when she'll be back but she might get worried if I'm not with Siren." It wasn't words to deny going along with him as he stepped forward with his father, but it was maybe information he needed to know. At least to expect that Viper would call, possibly in a panic.
