All things leafy and pretty
Pack gathering!
When they got to the edge of the overgrown gardens she slipped the strap for the cart off of her back and gave a smile to the rest of the group. She wasn't the most knowledgeable when it came to herbs and plants, though she had been picking up things here and there from her time spent with Kane. At the very least she could focus on things that were pretty that they could decorate the feast hall with. "Let me know if there's anything I can help with!" she said before she went to go wandering through the plants to see if there was anything she happened to recognize or could help gather.
Lúta wandered to the gardens that existed just beyond the Hallows border. Summer was just beginning in Auster and it was a gorgeous sunny day. The garden was an amazing resource of plants of all kinds and she was curious to see what was growing there this season and if there was anything she should start laying out to dry. Her companion Raga trailed along after her, the macaque's deft fingers holding onto a small hide bag before slinging it across her shoulders.
When Lúta arrived she noticed Tamsyn with a cart and a number of sacks stacked upon it. Curious she headed over to the woman. "Good morning, Tamsyn. What are you up to today?"
Ulric had tasked Gwynevere and Syanna with making sure they had plenty of greenery as decoration for their Feast of Unity, and Syanna was determined to take her first real responsibility seriously. She wanted this to be a rousing success, so she and her fellow Seneschal had gone to gather a few friends to help them undertake the effort. They would need flowers aplenty, and gathering some supplies to restock the pharmacy's stores wouldn't be a bad idea either. The vixen-furred lady walked alongside Tamsyn, whom she'd gotten to know better with how much time she spent as her son's bedside waiting for him to wake up, making idle chat about the goings on in the pack. When they arrived at the gardens just south of Hallowed lands, Syanna began to unload the sacks and prop them open in preparation.
"I'm going to start looking for some herbs around here, Tamsyn," she told her partner while they waited for the others to show up. It wasn't long after that another wolf showed up, this one Syanna was less familiar with. "Good morning! We're gathering some flowers for the feast, as well as herbs to resupply the pharmacy. Could you give us a paw with the harvesting?" Syanna glanced back to Tamsyn with a smile. "Miss Tamsyn, you could start looking for flowers and ivy vines we can use for decoration. Anything bright and vibrant!" She knew Tamsyn didn't have a background in medicine, so the aesthetics tasks would be more up her alley. With that, Syanna began to scour the gardens looking for useful herbs and medicines, keeping an eye out for any of the other Hallows wolves so she could direct them as needed too.
Lil followed a couple few wolves out into the gardens to begin looking for plants and decorations. She looked up in hopes of finding Roman following after her, but she knew he’d probably come find her when he wasn’t busy with something else. The girl followed timidly after the other healers and caught the tail end of Syanna’s words to Luta. Harvests for the infirmary and decorative plants for the feast. Lilith wandered a little ways off from the others, garnet gaze searching and identifying a few shaded plants and herbs.
Creeping up behind her, Roman grinned and announced his presence by saying, "You look a little disappointed, gorgeous. Didn't see who you were looking for?" He snickered and flashed his roguish grin to her as he nudged her side with his shoulder gently. Silver eyes turned down to the plants she was examining, finding that the gardens had bloomed significantly since they were last here. Wildflowers and medicinal plants were growing in abundance! "What are we looking for?" he asked.
Adjusting to a more stationary lifestyle was something strange, it required dredging up whatever memories of his childhood were still rattling around in his thick skull. Patrolling in the mornings, checking the stocks that the pack maintained, things like that. He was still getting used to it all, when he'd heard the healers were being sent off to begin preparations for a feast this season. Well, might as well get to work on that. The celestial titan ambled after the party of gatherers, letting the sound of rattling cart wheels guide him away from the borders of the pack that had taken him in. The scents of his packmates were heavy in the air, and he noted quite a few females among them, overpowering the musk of the smaller number of males. He had been teased in the past about healing being women's work, but he still didn't buy it. Remembering which plants would kill you instantly and which ones would help a fever required a skill that was not exclusive to women. By the time they reached their destination, it seemed apparent that this was far from a social excursion. So, the cosmic giant opted to keep his mouth shut. A polite dip of his head to the dark fae pulling the cart, who seemed to be leading the way, and then to the sunset hued lady who was quietly offering directions to those who asked. Beyond that, the surly behemoth settled for wandering towards the treeline and away from the scattered wolves that were foraging in the area. It sounded like the only requirement was to collect something of use, and since he had no stores of his own to speak of, he simply set off in search of something that might be of use. Being unfamiliar with the area, he could only hope that something around here caught his eye. Close to the edge of the treeline bordering the field, he caught sight of bright orange and yellow blooms. He fondly recalled the near constant trips to collect marigold in between raids years back. his companions were fond of drinking until they were sick, and then ended up stealing his supply of crushed petals and flower heads to ease the pain of their raw throats. Given the notable fondness for drink that seemed to be prevalent in this pack, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a good supply on hand for after the feast. Lumbering over to the patch of brightly coloured blooms, the brute set about examining them for the best few to harvest from each stalk. Exhausting the plant and taking every bloom would keep it from pollinating, and then germinating new growth in the following years. |
So the young Adravendi would turn his attention to looking around for both herbs he recognized as being medicinal and just flowers that were nice. That hurt too, the last time he'd gone searching for flowers just for aesthetic he'd had Bowen at his side. Emile grit his teeth, clenching his jaw as he felt the grief roll over him, bringing tears to prickle at the corners of his eyes. He grunted and furiously wiped his face on a foreleg, silently wishing he could just stop feeling. He grabbed a little too roughly at a few stems of Lavender, and turned to put them in the cart. His gaze landed on his sister, and sure enough, the grey male was glued to her side. Emile dropped the sprigs in the cart and turned, trying to squash down the resentment that rose in his chest.

She paced around the gardens, finding clusters of brightly colored flowers and carefully gathering them so she could bring them back to the cart. She didn't know if any of them had any medicinal properties or not, but she was sure one of the healers here would tell her one way or another. She placed the pile next to some others that had been gathered so far before going back out into the garden again, finding some ivy that was winding along some of the stone walls. She was about to start pulling some of it free to add to her collection when she stopped and looked at it warily. She didn't know what poison ivy looked like and she most certainly didn't want to have her mouth itching like crazy because of it. She lifted her head and looked around, waving Luta down to get the healer's attention. "Luta! Could you tell me if this ivy is safe to pick or not?"
Lúta turned to the rust-coated woman and nodded. "Certainly, I'd be happy to!" Working with plants would always hold a special place in her heart even if she was a warrior now. It was a boon to her soul to learn to heal instead of just to hurt, and even though her lowly station as a soldier in her homeland offered no chance of a brighter future she could find solace in learning healing arts even if they had to be learned in secrecy. Thankfully fate had intervened and allowed her escape into a new kind of life. Still, she was finding the urge to wander again and her heart ached to visit her parents once more. But the odds of them still being alive were incredibly low and if she returned it would almost mean certain death.
Lúta was pulled from her thoughts by Tamsyn's voice. She trotted over to the garden wall and peered at the ivy Tamsyn was looking at. "Yes, that should be fine. It's Common Ivy and as long as you don't swallow any of the berries you'll be ok." An extract of the berries could be used in a cough medicine but it was ideal to make a tincture and measure it out than just swallowing berries whole. Lúta reached up and used her claws to cut off a few vines.
