The art of the hunt was a precise one, and today Argent found herself losing out. She?d been honing her skills for a while, and she knew that one could not always be victorious, but she couldn?t help the disappointment. She had failed her pack, and now she had to walk home. There was a slight limp in her step, a pulled muscle that would heal in a few days. She knew that she ought to be more careful, but Argent was a woman pushed by a desire to please and support. If she could not feed the pack, if she could not guard them, if she could not make them happy, then what use was she? She sighed as she re-entered Glaciem territory, supposing she ought to take it easy for a day or two before she tried to hunt again. Her limp was obvious, but her disappointment was not.

His acceptance into the pack had been an easy one, simple enough. his duties were cut and dry so the coming on two year old had accepted them without complain. No doubt there would be loop holes and things that would make him regret it from the serpentine nature of his new alpha but the male had given him purpose and for that he was grateful. So as he did a minimum of five times a day the male was walking the boarders, checking for any foreign scents and ready to call Isa if needed. He didn't love the male but would respect him as the alpha and keep in line. So when he caught sight of the female walking slowly back into Glaciem territory the large male perked up and immediately broke into an easy lope to check it out. Her scent was strongly of this pack so immediately his head drooped respectfully, green gaze sliding to the limp that hindered her gait. "Do you need help ma'am?" Tone was a ruff grumble but there was honesty there, if she asked he would use what little knowledge of herbs he had to help her or call another healer if their pack had one.

She would be interrupted by the voice of another, turning to find herself looking upon a Glaciem male, a young one at that. She would offer him a smile, maternal when it came to those younger than her and pleased when it came to the fact that there was someone in Glaciem doing their duty. ?I am alright, just fucked up and pulled a muscle,? she said. Maybe her tongue was bit too loose for his young ears, but in her opinion curse words were not bad. As he grew older this boy would only hear t hem more and more often, after all. ?Thank you, though,? she said, gracious nonetheless.

A smile, was it strange that he found that a weird gesture and that if he could he would have blushed. Strange to get such acceptance and reassurance from one of the females here, he had assumed they would have all been rude to him from the way Isa had explained it to him. So she had pulled a muscle? Even if she had asked him for help there would have been little he could have done other then to call a healer and sit with her to wait. "Do you mind me asking what you were doing to cause such strain?" So many words it almost made his mind hurt but it needed to be asked. If she was off doing stupid things like poking bears or something then he would have to at least voice his displeasure and maybe bring it to Isa's attention but if she had simply slipped and fallen or something simple there wasn't really anything that he could do about that. Her thanks was a bit out of the blue and once again took him a bit off guard but he dipped his head politely to the side graciously. "Doing my job ma'am, couldn't very well turn a blind eye either," he said easily, long tail licking at his heels.

He inquired about what she was doing, and she would respond honestly. ?I was hunting, and when I cut a corner after the rabbit I was chasing, I put a bit too much strain on my leg,? she explained. It could happen to anyone, and she didn?t think of it as a problem. He mentioned that he was just doing his job, and she was curious about what job that would happen to be. ?What is your name?? she asked, ?And while you?re at it, what sort of job is it that you have?? she wanted to know, wanted to be able to place names and faces with ranks and roles so that she could hold individuals accountable.

Her answer was honest, to the point and more then acceptable. he found himself nodding along with her words, head tipped and listing intently. "Happens to the best of hunters," he responded as she finished. It was true, he had met some great hunters and anyone could get hurt hunting. Damn anyone could get hurt doing anything, there were some oddballs out there, that was why his mother was dead after all. His name? Head would cock easily, curiously at the question and then the following question about his rank. "Vixe Sovari ma'am. Assailant of Glaciem. I only recently joined so my full duties are unknown but general safety and well fair is my job." He responded easily, massive shoulders lifting in an easy shrug. He would learn his complete duties soon, for now he was content with the basic duties he had been given. "Hunting on occasion as well, if you ever need a hand next time. And yourself?" he offered and then asked. He wasn't sure if it was proper for him to ask the lady's name and rank but he was honestly curious. She seemed high ranked, he was below most women of course, but she seemed higher still.

She nodded her head at the male, knowing he was right. Accidents happened to hunters all the time, and hers had been rather mild compared to what could have happened to her if she had been going after larger, more violent prey. She listened to his introduction, making sure to remember his name and rank. An Assailant was a valuable tool, but she knew he would do well from his concern alone. ?Your job is to guard the whelping and pregnant women, and to look after the children. You are a warrior,? she informed gently, her rank allowing her knowledge of what the boy was truly responsible for. He would offer assistance in the next hunt and she would nod, happy with his offer. ?I will keep that in mind,? she said before offering her own name and rank. ?Argen Zaldun, Overseer. I believe that?s the equivalent of a beta,? she mused.

He listened closely as she spoke, outlining his job and he took it all in, filing it away in his mind for future reference. Well, at least he knew his job now, or at least the whole of it. He had to admit, he liked the sounds of it, whatever he had gotten himself into was something that thus far he was enjoying greatly. He had always wanted to be a warrior... A protector and he he was doing both almost on his first day on the job... Argent Zaldun hey? And she was beta? So she would be another one of the pack members he would be going to if he needed anything. "Its good to meet you Argent. Do you mind me asking if there are any other higher ranking wolves I should be aware of?" He was curious now, Isa hadn't really told him of anyone so he would get as much information from her as quickly as he could. He really should be getting back to his rounds in the next little bit...
