Things in the world seemed to get worse and worse since her father passed away. Was it an omen of sorts? While she struggled to believe in things like that, she couldn't help but wonder...maybe it was her grief that caused her to think like that, but she was by no means a spiritual creature. She knew nothing of spirts, Gods, or anything of the sort. She had heard of the Praetor demons from her father, but as far as she was aware, her father hadn't been afflicted by them ever since he managed to fight them off...though she wasn't sure how that worked considering demons weren't real and they weren't physical beings...right? Who was she to know. Her father wasn't here to tell her about any of that stuff anymore, and she wasn't sure she was ready to face her crimson cousin just yet. Besides, if she did ask him, he'd probably lie or make something up. She didn't trust him. Had no reason to after what he had done. And as far as she could tell, he had let the pack fall in shambles, though she had no idea what the reasoning for that was at all.

Wandering near one of the northern caves, she decided to stop for a break and probably rest for the night. With the world the way it was, her sleep schedule had been thrown off and she felt more tired than usual today. Or was it evening already...she wasn't sure. Sighing, the horned girl made her way into the Whispering Caves, her paw steps seemingly amplified as she sought shelter. Lavendar gaze searched the darkness of the cave, only it wasn't as dark as she thought it might be.

All around the walls of the cave, she saw glowing crystals and strange glowing mushrooms and fungi, and even the moss seemed to be glowing in here. While she'd been seeing that most of Winter so far, she hadn't really felt brave enough to get up close and personal wirh any of it. Though she had to admit...it all looked enticing. Pretty. She couldn't help but stare in awe, even when blue glowing flecks which she assumed to be some sort of winter species of firefly hovered over the crystals and mushrooms. She watched them from her position near the mouth of the cave first, but the longer she watched, the more curious she got.

What harm would it do to at least get a closer look?

Hesitantly, she approached a small cluster of mushrooms that were all shades of blues and purples. She gazed at them in awe, their glowing colors reflecting in her own lavendar gaze as she settled in for a closer look. The mushrooms pulsed with a soft glow, seemingly appearing as if they were breathing on their own but she wasn't sure. Did plants do that? Could they do that? She had no idea. She never really had an interest in herbs or plants, so she couldn't say for sure if her eyes were just tired or if these things really were doing that on their own. Alternatively, maybe it was just the slight breeze from outside, but...who knew.

Focusing on a mushroom the same color as her eyes, she leaned in to smell it, but ended up accidentally getting a little too close. She bumped it with her nose, and it seemed that almost as soon as she did that, a ton of little spores floated in the air. She pulled back, gasping in surprise at what had just happened, and her ears fell flat against her head.

The spores landed on her fur, some on the rocks, and some still floating. The spores were everywhere! And it almost looked like thousands of tiny little stars floating around in the cave. Glancing at her pelt, she noticed she had been covered in some of them too, though she wondered if she should avoid touching her fur or breathing or...something. Well, if it was poisonous, she was sure she'd be choking or something by now but...so far so good, right?

Standing up, she shook her coat off and moved to look at another cluster of mushrooms, though these ones were smaller than the last and more of a red and pink color. She wondered if all the mushrooms did the same thing, and being the curiosity-killed-the-cat type, she decided to touch these mushrooms with a gentle paw. She instantly backed up as soon as she did, however, waiting for the same thing to happen with these that had happened with the purple ones, but...nothing happened.

Head tilted in confusion, and she wondered if only some mushrooms released spores, or if maybe only certain colors? She wasn't sure and there was no way for her to tell. It was all a mystery to her and honestly, she had no idea what to think with all of it.

After touching those, she got up and made her way a little deeper into the mines, tail touching and sweeping all the mushrooms she passed. She didn't pay much mind to see if any were releasing spores like the first one she touched or not, but she doubted it was anything she had to worry about, anyway.

She found a spot in the mines that seemed shelter and secure enough to bed down for the night (day? She wasn't sure anymore). She figured it was time for a much needed rest and a break, and with all the neat glowing mushrooms everywhere and surrounding her potential sleeping spot, she didn't feel the need to have one of her companions keep watch...though whether she wanted them to or not, they were likely going to anyway. Taking a deep breath, she circled the spot that she was going to sleep in and settled down, tail sweeping over a handful of colorful mushrooms as she did so. Eyes narrowed as she swore some looked like they were moving, but she was sure at that point that it was just the movement from her tail that caused the motion.

Winter

Nope it's not just your eyes, as you take a moment to observe without swinging your tail over the fungi you notice the mushrooms wiggles in response to your presence. They seem happy, friendly even, beckoning you to keep interacting...

She narrowed her eyes a bit as she watched the mushrooms she had touched upon getting ready for bed, and on closer inspection, realized her eyes weren't playing tricks on her! They were actually wiggling! While she didn't know anything about plants, these mushrooms practically seemed to give off a friendly air to her, almost as if they were asking her to play with them? It was weird, considering they were...she wasn't sure...plants? Fungi was a type of plant, right? Mushrooms grew from the earth and stuff, so surely they were? Were sentient plants a thing? These things for some reason appeared happy to her and she couldn't help but grin as she turned around and flipped onto her back, gently and carefully, she pawed the air in front of the mushroom, for a moment before occasionally tapping and playing with them as best she could without damaging them. She adored their glowing and pulsing, and at some moments, it almost appeared as if they were laughing along with her!

It Continues for Winter...

Huh? It doesn't seem like anything happened... Well, maybe that's for the best...
