Not Beary Nice

Kione wandered the land, searching for his own kind, searching to have a family again. The African wild dog was a sight to behold with his large ears, far shorter coat than a wolf, and the strange pattern of orange black, and white colors that marked him all over. The willow trees weren’t his favorite terrain but he had been in worse spots.
If Kione had his preference all the world would be wide open planes save for a small scattering of trees. The painted dog enjoyed running and darting without obstruction from anything and not dealing with prey animals darting between trees. Still, the trees here weren’t as dense as in some spots. The waterways were nice for quenching thirst.
Kione walked with a bit of a spring naturally in his step. It was a good thing because out of nowhere came a bear with one crystalized eye, two crystalized ears, and a gooey ugly stained matt of fur all around his chest. A huge paw swiped at Kione from behind a curtain of leaves and the nimble dog had to bound off. Kione’s mostly white tail came up flagging, backing up as the bear stepped out fully from its hiding spot.
Kione pranced about it deciding if he wanted to attempt fighting the monstrous animal. The bear knew what it wanted to do and charged the wild dog who jumped back again to avoid the attack. Kione wasn’t fleeing, just keeping out of range and now a grin was forming. “Oh pall’y ya don’t wanna underestimate me.”
Kione rushed towards the bear but never got close enough for a bite as another paw swung trying to knock him off his feet. Bouncing away again Kione considered the bear again. He’d never fought a bear before and he was still growing used to fighting alone.
