The wraith is, in truth, enjoying herself. Everything was new, and her shifting mind was able to catch on and hold. Hold tight to the strangeness of all things. Her stride is long, loping. Everything about Cyanide was rakish, gleaming, brilliant. She carried her head high, taking in all this land had to offer. It was a broad, open grassland that seemed to go on for ages in any direction. How brilliant. Cy burns with that brilliance. It’s sunset, bathing the land in rich golden and orange. Through it, she can see just how many plants spread through the grass. If she had any concept of what they all did, maybe she’d be even more well off. For now, she could relish in the rich smells here. She was running, and she wouldn’t stop running. It’s beautiful. |

Faith wasn't really sure what was going to happen, she could feel her family spreading thin, splintering apart in ways she couldn't seem to understand. The long night had taken a toll on most of them but when she sought comfort from her brother he seemed... Distant, like he was thinking of things a million miles away from the rest of them. Faith was anxious, it was something she'd become in the time since they'd been removed from the shrine when she'd learned that blood was not strong enough to hold a family together. The name they'd taken for themselves, it rankled and carried a weight that calling herself Abraxas never had. All Faith wanted was peace, was time to spend worshiping and listening and seeing the signs and to not have to worry that at any moment someone she cared about might disappear from her life.
She wanted a break, she wanted to breathe. The sun had removed all signs of her sickness but sometimes she still felt that strange pull at the back of her mind. Once the faint blue glow that literally emanated from her had been a symbol of pride, of god's blessing upon her, but now she couldn't help but wonder if she'd always been closer to the creeping darkness that had seized Boreas. The crystals had glowed as she did, the constant light she shed had pulsed when around them...
Faith shook her head, attempting to dislodge her concerns. The warmth of the sun had healed them and she was greateful, and now she just wanted to bask in it's dying glow and maybe find some useful plants or something, take them back and see if Obi knew what they did. She wasn't sure. But she certainly wasn't prepared for the racing form of another young woman to catch her gaze, her breath hitching as she stood, stock still and watched. Brain frozen.

There were too many thoughts in Cyanide’s head. She’d left home. She’d left home, and she was finally free. On her own, it was such a strange thought. No parents. No one to tell her what to do. No siblings to get in her way. This was a girl that didn’t fit in– never had, never would. Maybe that was one of the sources of her insecurity, and maybe that was why she felt so utterly stifled. There was no option other than to well and truly leave, and not in the way her siblings had. Not in the way that they were still close by. They really hadn’t left at all. No, she had to be different. Always different. Maybe that was why she sped through the prairie on this sunset evening. A brilliant sunset it was, with so much beauty spreading all around her. Prey animals seemed to abound here too. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad place to sleep tonight, Cyanide decided. Still, sleep was hours off. There was far too much energy in her to wait now. Over land, she seemed to float. An extended gait, fast, yet she was taking in the land at the same time. The land… the girl. From a distance, she caught Cyanide’s gaze. Why was she still? Was staring? Throwing a bit of a spring into her step, catching a little more height with each step, Cy couldn’t help but show off. If she had an audience, why not? Still, she didn’t slow as she moved to pass the stranger. “Don’t just stand there, come explore with me!” Hell, what was the harm? |

Oh, the other wolf was coming towards her. Panic! A voice whispered frantically in her ear or was that her brain who was suddenly overwhelmed with the flood of emotions, predicated on her lack of experience and her raging yearling hormones. Not that she could think that critically and realistically about herself. Why did this keep happening? Her face flushed and she took a tiny timid step back. Which was ridiculous she knew. Faith towered over this other young woman and yet she couldn't help it, she just didn't know how to deal.
Still the invitation was tossed her way and for a brief dumbfounded moment, Faith just stood there looking at where the girl had been before a smile started to tug at her lips and her tail began to sway behind her. Oh. Well, what was the harm? She rolled her shoulders and then took off after the other young woman. Putting on a burst of speed to catch up and then using the superior length of her limbs to carry her onwards, attempting to outstrip the other wolf, though she tried to make sure it was in a way that looked effortless, a small yip of excitement bursting forth from her lungs before she could bite down on it. She needed a break, she needed this.

As Cyanide flew by, she considers the fact that she may have scared the girl away. Damn, you really do suck at making friends, the mean voice in her teenage head. That mean voce was always going to be her own, but it was whatever. Making friends was hard. Cy came from a culture that was fairly straight laced, and her behavior was often less than welcome from the more reasonable population. Maybe this land was the same... if that was the case, maybe she wouldn't fit in here either. No matter. Fitting in was overrated. But her invitation was, to her pleasure, well received. The girl managed to catch up, and then pass her-- hey, wait! With a grumble (not aggressive, really more playful than anything), Cy pushed herself even harder. She went from attempting to show off her grace to setting her mind on pure speed. The laugh that broke from her chest was breathless, as she was finally pushing herself. Enjoying herself more than anything, the wraith was able to take in the thrill of the competition and the excitement of new company all at once. Pure energy sparked within her chest. This stranger was fast, and considerably taller than Cy. They're side by side in the light of the sunset afternoon, and everything was wonderful. Until. Though her gaze had been trained on the world around her, Cyanide didn't see the prairie dog hole. With a yelp she crashed, ass over tea kettle, to the ground. Immediately she could feel the pain in her ankle, realizing it had been twisted. Not badly enough to be broken, but badly enough to hurt. Winded and dazed, it would take Cy a long moment to sort herself out. "Fuck," she whimpered the curse, attempting to catch her breath and not necessarily doing the best job. |
