Gone to the Dogs
Predator Fight

Her middle name should have been Trouble instead of Datura. It seemed to always find Eska no matter what she did. In this case, the Hallows wolf stumbled upon a pack of mixed breed dogs. They had been lazily tearing into the corpse of a pig, but now that Eska was here, their attention had shifted. At least they might be slower since they were fat and full? Little silver lining possibly. There were about six or seven unless more came out of the trees. Not even odds at all, but the woman would give them a run for their bones. The leader was clear, though it wasn't the largest of the dogs. It held a confidence to it and the others deferred to its growls. As it approached, the woman's golden eyes locked onto it. She lowered her head and prepared, lips curling back in one last warning. It would have been easier to just turn and leave, but the group had encircled her. There would be no escape without a bit of blood. Hopefully more theirs than hers. "Eska"

Kione was enjoying exploring the area, plenty of sun, trees and enough prey that it didn’t take too much effort to catch a rabbit. The wild dog had always learned to hunt in a large pack and so had some decent skill at that but hunting alone was another matter. Still, he’d learned how to be an opportunist and there were always some prey that was just outright stupid so even a novice lone hunter like him could grab something.
Kione smelled the blood of some dead animal and made his way towards the smell. What he saw gave him pause. One wolf versus a pack of dogs. Which side did the wild dog want to take? Neither one was his species but he had been getting on pretty well with the wolves he met lately. The odds looked more entertaining anyway. Kione grinned with his decision made.
The large-eared painted dog rushed out of the brush, picked out a dog closest to him. The tannish mongrel was on the larger side of most. He wasn’t the most confident but looked like he’d put up a good fight. With a great deal of zeal, he rushed the dog, aiming straight for his throat. The dog turned its head to meet him and Kione leaped out of the way with a laugh. Kione circled about, his speed seemingly faster than the dog and eventually he got a bite on the dog's back leg. Kione’s strong jaws squeezed in and a ‘crack’ sound was heard.
Kione would kill it later. He had only won that fight fast because he had caught them by surprise and Kione had done a great job of getting the attention of two of the others.

The dogs circled and Eska prepared. From behind, commotion sounded and both wolf and dogs looked to see what it was all about. A spotted dog had come up and thrown itself into the fray. Eska recognized the dog and was thankful that he'd come to her aid once again. She owed him for sure. They worked well as a team last time and she had no reason to believe that it would be different this time. A crack sounded and a dog screamed. She didn't turn to look. Instead, she leaped towards the lead dog, jaws wide. Teeth found the canine's jowls and she tore them away, slicing through the soft skin there. The dog yelped and pulled back, but the action had only pissed it off. Didn't matter to Eska. She dove forward again, giving no quarter. Her chest slammed into the dog and she bit again, this time on its ear and cheek, once again shaking her head back and forth. "Eska"

Kione would have said hello to Eska but these dogs didn’t seem to feel like pausing for pleasantries. After biting into the one a second had come running at him. Kione and the dog spun around each other once as both tried to get the advantage in an attack. Boring. Kione lunged in, felt the dog's teeth on his shoulder. That was fine, Kione sunk his own teeth into its neck. Kione tore away more flesh than the dog had bit into him. The dog lost its hold on Kione as it cried out and Kione latched onto the underside of its neck, quickly spinning while he held its throat to avoid a smaller wire-coated dog that thought to team up on him.
With a growl, Kione let go of the dog he held by the throat so he could spin to snap at the smaller dog that was going for his leg. He got the animal's rump when it had turned to dodge but didn’t dare hold on as he was spinning still to avoid the dog who had already bit his shoulder once. The bite wasn’t overly damaging but the fight wasn’t over yet.

Rising to her hind paws, Eska managed to work her larger form against that of the dog. Soon she had it on its back and her teeth were lodged in its throat. Its kicking ceased and its life ended, but the fight wasn't over. Other dogs moved in, one attacking her from behind with a sharp bite to her hip. Spinning, Eska took a swipe at its face with one paw, though she lacked cat claws or anything impressive. A good fighter went with the flow, and that was just what she had done. Planting hind paws, Eska leaped and slammed into two attackers at once. Both dogs were smaller and she made short work of them, teeth ripping, tearing, rending. Only when those dogs were dispatched did she moved towards Kione and help him with the remaining dog that had come up on his tail while his back was turned. Slamming her weight down on the terrier mix's spine, the sickening crack echoed throughout the orchard. And then... all was quiet save for the panting of the silvered woman as she caught her breath. "Thank you... again..." she panted, a grin on her bloodied features. Both ended up getting a little wounded this time, but nothing that they couldn't handle. "Eska"

Around and around Kione spun. Teaming up on predators was a lot more fun than being teamed up on by others. Kione would get a fast bite in one dog but have to pull back before he could do damage to keep the other at bay. Technically it felt like he'd probably win but it would take a while and possibly another bite or two if he wasn't careful.
Eska had finished off her dogs and came in to help. The terrier breed was down and Kione was able to face the other attacker. There was no sluggishness once it was one versus one. Kione sunk his teeth into the mongrel's neck, stepping in and strong jaws crushing for the windpipe. A surprising ending was the dog panicking and trying to pull away. The flesh was sheared off as the unknown dog chose to make its own injury worse to flee. Kione licked blood from his mouth watching it flee. The dog wasn't a cat, it could live if it wanted to run. Not that Kione was overly sure if the dog would survive with the wounds it had taken.
That done he glances at Eska, "Ello again Luv," a small chuckle, "you find a battle and feel free to call. Nothing like a bit of fun to get the day moving."
