Jynn bounded through the weeping woods. She worked her way across and around the roots, pausing once near the stream to take a deep drink. It was a lovely spring evening. The sun was just starting to set and it case a gorgeous amber glow over the surroundings. She really enjoyed hanging in the eastern regions during the spring time. Everything was greening up so beautifully. Here and there she'd find clumps of flowers, their blossoms sparkling in hues of white and gold. It was a laid back evening, maybe a bit boring as well and she sighed. She wasn't ready to start winding down for the night yet, and she wished there was something for her to do.

Intent on going for a run, Levi slowed to a walk as he spotted a long limbed figure lingering by a stream. What was that? It didn't look like any wolf he'd ever seen before, all leggy and tall, but skinny as though stretched thin. Instead of showing any hesitation or caution, the pup simply approached with a demanding air about him. He was bossy like his Mum...and Dad, poor boy had no chance. But at this age everyone seemed to find it endearing, like it was forgivable.

"You look fast." Levi said, his head tipping to the side slightly. "Race me."

Jynn picked up the sound of something approaching but it seemed small. She turned as a high voice called out and demanded a race. she looked down to see a little, beautifully colored, pup with noticeable sabers and… ohhh dear. That mark across the eye looked familiar. Was this one of Sirius' pups? She looked about, ears searching for any sound of the behemoth but she caught none. It would probably be fine. She liked racing. "Sure!" She moved to step beside the pup, seeking to line up her front feet with his. "Let's race to the fork in the stream. We start when the rock hits the ground." She seized a rock in her teeth and tossed it up. The moment it hit the ground she leapt forward, springing down the length of the stream, trying to avoid the soft mud and tangled willow roots.

The fork in the stream? His azure eyes squinted into the shadows, they would be sprinting then?  Fine. Waiting for the rock to drop, he stretched out his toes just in time to leap into action. Golden paws kicked at the earth as he burst into a dash, tail arching straight to help his sense of balance. There were lots of tangled roots and objects blocking their path, he would have to be careful not to trip or lose his footing. But rather than be intimidated, he quite liked the idea of such a challenge. Beating the long legged adult and not falling would be enough to bring a smile to his face, of that he was certain.

Jynn tried not to underestimate the young boy. It was hard to maintain her focus as she wanted to keep glancing over to him to make sure he was doing alright. She also felt a need to be more alert to threats. Spring pups could attract bears, especially after such a long winter. Not to mention if the boy's family suddenly appeared she needed to be ready, and have enough energy, to beat a hasty retreat. Her front right paw caught a root and she stumbled but only for a moment before she was back on her feet and barreling forward. She was almost to the fork in the stream and she hoped she could finish before the youth. If not she really need to get back to basic training.

A blur of movement caught his attention as his opponent stumbled and fell, but was quick to clamber back onto her paws. She made it look easy, her movements swift and sure, with seasons of experience at her back. Levi had no such thing pushing him on, simply natural talent and a drive to do more, be better. But would that be enough? Both now in this race and all things beyond it, fights and spars till he could improve no more. Gritting his teeth he pushed hard, forcing his limbs to move as they drew close to the finishing line. But who would win? Levi simply couldn't tell.
