Duchess tried to make her hunting trips plentiful when she did do her duty for her band. She guessed getting multiple kills would make up for the times she was off sulking or doing whatever these days. She tried to avoid contact with any of them really. Some band member.
Heading towards the ocean, she dragged along numerous vines that she pulled from the willow trees just next door. Before heading to the beaches and shore, she stopped in the more solid grassy area and started laying out vines horizontally. It probably wouldn't be the best net, but it would certainly do the job for today.

While she had vowed to steer clear of saltwater, for the time being, she couldn't help but long for the taste of fish. Her mouth watered slightly as she crested over the hill with her companion in tow. The quiet complaining mews that left his mouth as sand stuck to his paws were ignored as she rolled her eyes. The cat would just have to get over it for now as they approached the beach. Off in the distance, somewhat close to shore, she caught the sight of a familiar wolf twisting together vines. Hunting, again? Hopefully for fish! Some sort of excitement lit up in Celeste as she wandered over to the purple girl. "If fish is on the menu, count me in to help make this net," she chirped as her lips curled up into a smile. |

Duchess' eyes diverted from the vines that didn't much look like a net yet as a familiar voice came through her ears. She didn't have the best smile to offer the girl, but at least she didn't hate her. That wasn't saying much for Duchess these days, or at least in regards to a stranger.
She appreciated the help the girl offered, and it was only kind to give her the meal in return. "I have band member to feed but I'm happy to give you a fair share." She suggested, hopefully not coming off as too rude. Pointing to the pile of vines beside her, she instructed, "I'm going to weave these ones vertically into the others here, just like this." She started at the top of her vines all in a line, weaving the new vine over and under all the way to the bottom. Hopefully that was easy enough to understand.

Her movements paused as she drew close enough to see the vines in fine detail. While she did notice it wasn't quite a net yet, she could tell it would be the intended results. Looking over to the girl, she smiled gingerly. "All I would ask are a few, I'm not terribly big myself," Celeste joked in her own accented tone. Turning her gaze back over to the vines that were laid out neatly, she listened in earnest. Taking note of how Duchess would weave the vines carefully around each other, Celeste figured it wouldn't be too much work. Changing her position so that she could sit beside the girl, Celeste grabbed her own piece and began weaving the vines over the other so that it looked just like how Duchess had made it. |

They worked together to make a decent net, the holes didn't have to be completely small for the larger ocean fish or shell fish they were going to be catching. Duchess had originally planned on throwing the net into the water and pulling it in from the shore. But it didn't seem easy enough with the two of them being smaller. It looked like they would be going for a swim, not that Duchess really minded.
Once the vines were weaved together, Duchess took the ends of all the vines and started looping them around into ties. She hadn't even thought to look up and tell the girl what to do, just assumed she would do it. Once the vines were tied into place they could take it out into the water.

At first, Celeste believed that they would set it out in the water and wait for the fish to swim into it. But as they twined the vines together, her eyes lingered over the larger piece of the trap. Maybe they would have to go for a swim. Not that she didn't mind, just not what she was expecting to do today. Helping to finish up tying the intertwined pieces together, the small girl smiled at their handiwork. Okay, so they probably weren't strong enough between the two to throw it in. Standing up from her spot, she looked over to Duchess before grabbing a corner. "Ready for a swim?" Celeste asked between clenched teeth and vines. |

They had finished putting the net together and it was time to get on with the catch. Duchess stood and nodded her head at her company in response to going for a swim. She was much more quiet than outspoken but also just didn't care much for the company of the girl. These days were odd ones for her, but she wasn't going to turn down help or refuse to offer the girl a meal.
Grabbing the corner of the net, she held it up straight and stuck her paw through one of the woven holes. She then started walking towards the ocean, making sure Celeste was following beside her in unison. They would need to look for the fish to catch them, and it would be a little more difficult than if they were in a river. But as long as the fish were large, it would be worth it in the end.

Something about this girl threw her off. The long stretches of silence weren't exactly unusual, but Celeste wasn't used to someone not reciprocating her friendliness. Back home, she'd been the one who edged on the shadowy side of chilly. Figuring it would be better to be friendly in an unknown place, receiving a chill back didn't set well with her. Not wanting to force the girl into being uncomfortable or risking losing out on a good meal, Celeste watched as Duchess loops the edge of the net over her paw. Taking that as her cue to do the same, she wove her end over her paw and dipped into the water. Being careful not to disturb the water more than the tide, her aquamarine eyes watched out for any bigger fish as she kept pace with the girl. |

They moved forward and waded in the water together, Duchess didn't catch on to the girl's changed behavior but she also didn't really care much. Having someone else to hate her didn't ruffle her feathers, or at least not these days.
They went out deep into the shallow water, walking the length of the banks while the land here spiraled and didn't get so deep at least where they were fishing. Duchess kept an eye out for the fish and it seemed like they could both match each other's steps despite her more stand offish behavior. As the net filled up, she started to move closer to shore but still picked up fish as she spotted them.

Feeling the cool waters deepen around her legs, she kept to the other shore as Duchess did. While their silence wasn't exactly companionable, it was tolerable enough. Keeping her attention on the deeper ends of the shallows, Celeste watched as the fish stupidly waded into their net. Moving in pace with the other girl, she would change her direction slightly to ensure bigger fish found their way into the net. It was easy work and her mouth began to salivate at the thought of having a nice fishy meal. Beginning to feel the net drag along the sandy bottom as the weight of the fish filled it up, her gaze drifted back toward Duchess. "You think we have enough?" She asked curiously. |

Moving back to shore, Duchess' ears flicked as the girl asked if they were ready to pull in. "Yeah, we can just grab whatever we can on the way in." She continued in step and weaved as she spotted the flash of moving fins.
When they made it back to shore, Duchess dug her paw into the sandy ground and curled the net over top of their catch. Careful not to let the net open too far and allow the fish to flop back into the ocean water, she stuck her head in and started tossing them further inland. They could divide them up fairly once they finished moving them away from the water.

Glad that their trudging through the sandy waters would be over shortly, Celeste nodded in acknowledgment as Duchess agreed. Repositioning herself so that she was facing more toward the shore, she began a slow clamber over. As she emerged from the shallow depths, she managed to snag a few more of the finned creatures. Watching their shimmering bodies flop around frantically was almost comical. Careful not to let the net fly open, Celeste followed Duchess' movements farther up onto dry land. Making sure the net was dug in neatly to the dirt, she turned to look at their squirming catch. Proud of both of them, Celeste smiled at Duchess. "Not too bad if I say so myself," she chimed as she picked up a paw to count how many they had gathered. |
