CAUSE YOU CAN'T GET INTO HEAVEN

Thoroughly bored and raring for some violence, the lanky youngster wandered towards the den after a boring round trip of the territories. He knew exactly who would still be lurking inside, despite the freedom the children all had to wander as they pleased within the borders of the kingdom. At least, when it was night time. He'd learned the hard way that wandering about during the day was not a smart move, and not just because of the sunburn. Now he stuck to coming out at night like his mother did. Wicked ebon talons clicked out a staccato rhythm on the rubble strewn ground as he closed in, slate dappled banner waving with malevolent delight. He stopped just outside the den, dipping his head low so he could try and peer into the shadowed recesses of the cavernous room in search of a ruddy taupe figure. "Ghoul!" he barked, tongue lolling lazily from his pallid jaws. The dim moonlight turned the champagne hues of his pelage to glimmering silver, and the darker areas of his rump looked like an oil slick over his gawky young form. "Come spar, I'm bored!" he called out, demanding and unwilling to acquiesce. Prancing a few steps away, he left a healthy distance between the mouth of the den and the edge of the clearing just beyond.

He positioned himself just a few paces away from the far edge of the clearing, and thus left about four feet of space between himself and the darkened mouth of the den. If Ghoul came barreling out of there like a bat out of hell, there would be enough time to react. He had picked up the basics from his mama, and now he was going to try and put them to use against an opponent he felt secure in fighting. Widow was a good bit larger than him, and she was already getting good at wielding that stick she'd found. Ghoul was heavier, and had been spending more time practicing so far, but he was less likely to really shred him. Knobby young joints bent just a touch, lowering his centre of gravity and ready to disseminate the momentum of a heavy impact from the sturdy opponent. Tall auds folded towards his skull and ivory dipped tail tucked up against his belly defensively. He was ready, now it was up to Ghoul to make the first move.

Having spent more than enough time roaming farther from their home than he pleased, Ghoul welcomed the comfort of their den. Within the shadows, void of the light from outside, his own growing figure lazed about. Stretching his thick appendages across the cool stone, he stared up at the ceiling. Droplets of water would occasionally fall down from the abundance of rain they'd seen lately. While the mountain was void of much greenery like that of the nook, it still catered to waterways and winding caverns. Counting each drip that cascaded down with a plop, his ears would suddenly turn at the approach of steps. They were quiet but familiar. Lifting his spotted face up from the rock he had been laying on, he waited silently.

It wouldn't take long for a gentle breeze to roll in with Viscera's scent. Ah, the slightly larger brother of his that was twin to Ichor. A gentle smirk graced his own pallid lips as the boy barked out to him. So his siblings were demanding his attention now? What had happened to the pups that shot stares at him for preferring the safety of the den? For wanting to stay back and help protect mother? Was it because he had gone out to practice himself? Far from mastery, he at least had some skills now after bowling over Macabre quite a few times. Some may find it unfair to pick on a pup smaller than himself, but Mac always made it fun.

Waiting a few beats before he stretched up onto all fours, he could hear Viscera scuffle away from the den's opening. Now, if he had been Macabre, the obvious move would have been to come barrelling out of the opening in an attempt to surprise his opponent. But he knew Vis wasn't stupid so his approach would have to be more calculated. Without a word in response, he moved as quietly as he could toward the mouth's opening. Pausing before the light could reveal his muscular frame, he looked with ruby eyes to where Vis waited. It would only take a few seconds before he decided his plan of attack.

Curving around toward the edge of the den's opening, Ghoul initiated his pounce as the outside revealed his form. Paws drummed into the slate beneath them as he drove himself to close the small distance between the mouth of the den and where Vis stood waiting. Coiling up muscles in his back legs, the muted pink pup launched himself at Viscera's backend in hopes of toppling his slightly larger, but slimmer brother over.

CAUSE YOU CAN'T GET INTO HEAVEN

While he could hear the odd shuffle of movement from within their den, he didn't see his brother for another moment or two. When Ghoul did emerge, he did so quickly. Moving quickly and with purpose, the heavier pup sidestepped and danced his way in a small arc around Viscera. Not taking the head on approach seemed so out of character for his typically blunt and straightforward brother, but it also made him all the more interesting as an opponent. The slate dappled pup tracked the movement with his brother came around on his left side, perhaps trying to exploit the weakness of his left eye- but that was only in daylight. It was night now, and that eye was just as sharp at the right one. He tucked his tail more tightly against his belly, and the muscles in his thighs tensed as Ghoul leapt at his hindquarters. The angle of his brother's approach lent him a bit more room to disrupt the assault. There was an attempt to sidestep, to intercept the collision of the taupe boy's body with his vulnerable hindquarters. He sought to meet Ghoul head on, despite the attempts at an indirect attack from the other boy.

As the distance between them grew closer, and the juggernaut form of the burly pup came ever closer, those slate marked auds flattened against his skull. Rosy lips peeled away from pearlescent fangs, and narrow jaws parted in preparation to strike. The ever growing muscles of his forelimbs and shoulders bunched, and he lifted his front half up to meet chest to chest with Ghoul. The front of his left shoulder was aimed to strike at roughly the middle of Ghoul's wide chest, while his long forelimbs aimed to wrap around the thick neck of his smaller brother he didn't want to really hurt Ghoul- this was all fun and games, after all. However, he wasn't about to pull punches on the other boy. Long obsidian talons curled inward on those deadly forepaws, seeking a grip at the nape of Ghoul's neck by burying them into the thick fur and desensitized flesh of the scruff. While he attempted to gain his hold, slender jaws would seek to part and latch onto the right side of Ghoul's neck- just a few inches below the mandible.

What exactly was he supposed to do after this? He didn't know. Winging it was probably alright though, right? He had to further bend his knees as he struggled to maintain his balance, and his tail instinctively attempted to flag behind him to aid his stability. The deadly talons on his hind paws gripped the rocky soil for purchase, but found the ground unsuitable for digging into.

Ghoul found ease in his approach due to his various tumbles and brawls with Macabre. The click of his nails against rocks sounded loud in his flattened ears as he closed the space between himself and Viscera. As he had yet to have a bout with his ivory-coated brother, he had no plans of trying too hard as he now did with Mac. His slightly smaller brother knew his ways and Ghoul knew his, but Viscera was new to him and he wasn't yet quite sure how to combat what Viscera was about to do next.

Keeping steady as he focused on not falling flat on his face, Ghoul quickly tucked his tail and leaned in for the impact. Both ruby eyes were trained on the boy who Ghoul did not know could see better at night. With the moon overhead guiding their actions, perhaps Ghoul had tried to play into his brother's disability. Unfortunately, that would not work out this time. In the next moment, Ghoul's chest connected with Viscera's left shoulder as a wince crinkled at the edges of his eyes. Determined to not let this best him, the splotched pup held his ground with claws digging in to the slate as much as they could.

Maybe it hadn't been smart to come barreling forward this time. Watching as Viscera lifted his legs in search of a hold on his fur, Ghoul struggled against the ground in an attempt to try and topple his brother over. If he could use the advantage of the slippery floor beneath him, he could possibly get on top of Viscera for the advantage. But as his luck would have it while piercing claws dug in, he could feel sharp teeth twisting around to grab ahold of the right side of his neck. Holding back the wince this time, he let out a small grunt as he swung his head to the left. Coiling up his muscles as his hind legs fought for better purchase, the burly pup swung his head back toward Viscera in an attempt to playfully bash his skull against Viscera's cheek.

CAUSE YOU CAN'T GET INTO HEAVEN

The dull screech of claws against smooth stone nearly broke through his concentration entirely, and in the scant moments he took to flinch against the sound, his own talons slipped against the slate underfoot. Skidding a half inch or so back, Ghoul's strength was more than evident. Even this young, the taupe boy was a juggernaut. A low growl built in his chest as he tried to throw his weight forward to counteract the force of his brother shoving against him so fervently. He could feel his balance beginning to totter as he struggled to grapple the burly boy, though his teeth did manage to find purchase in the thick fur at the side of his brother's neck. It wasn't long lived though, and he could feel the pull of burgeoning musculature beneath his teeth as Ghoul wound up and swung his heavy skull leftward. Even as he tried to release his hold and pull his own head back, their cheeks connected with a harsh crack.

Letting out a surprised grunt that tapered off into a small yelp, Viscera finally lost is balance. He clenched his toes, a feeble attempt to maintain his grip on Ghoul and drag him down with him. Even if Ghoul landed on top of him, there was no way he would let the other boy gain an upper hand by staying standing while he flopped awkwardly onto his back. The muscles of his belly clenched as he tried to keep the impact from knocking all of the breath from his lungs, but he already knew this was going to hurt, especially if his heavy brother was about to crush him.
