Child after child seemed determined to drown and Valentine had had enough of it. If he'd told them once he'd told them a thousand times to be careful but did they listen? No, of course not, because their father was an idiot and idiocy was heritable. He was getting quite grumpy about it. That, coupled with the mud that mired their cart every chance it got meant that Valentine wasn't in the best of moods.

Having given up for the night Valentine had instructed Jupiter to build a fire close to the cart. With that out of the way Valentine shooed his grandson back and then beckoned the kids over. "Alright, come on, guys, it's story time." He waved them over. "Let's go, right here, line up!" One dark paw motioned to the ground in front of the cart. If they wouldn't listen to reason then by god he was going to scare some obedience into them.

NOTE: Valentine has a female striped skunk companion named Lefty. Unless stated otherwise assume she's present.

The water had been... interesting. Ivy wasn't sure how he felt about it, especially with all the rain they'd been having. It was wet all. The. Time. Would he ever be dry again? Not that he was necessarily complaining... well maybe he was complaining just a little bit. Still, the only one who he ever complained to was Lotus, and they basically shared a brain so that didn't count. The pair spent most of their time together, rarely one without the other. When the call for story time came around, Ivy had been blowing dandelion fluff in his brother's direction. Stories. Sure, okay, stories. "Lo, come on, pops says it's story time." It would be dark soon, and dad had already started on a fire... cool. "What do you think it's going to be about?"

Pops looked pissy, even Ivy could tell that much as he got closer. Still damp from his time trudging around in the tall, soggy grass, Ivy elected for the spot that was closest to the warmth of the fire. Maybe he'd finally be able to dry out. Dandelion fluff still clung haphazardly to his longer furnishings, but it didn't really bother him... or he didn't really notice, could go either way. The blue boy flopped down with his chin on his paws, casting a gaze about for his twin brother.
